Thank you so much for sharing your Alaska trip like this. What an honor to see those salmon fulfilling their species goal. The natural world is such a beautiful system
You outdid yourself Taku with an A+ discovery documentary like scene at the river with all those salmon. Great job at explaining and edit/montage the music into it. Always love watching your content
I had just found some chicken of the woods. Went on TH-cam to see about identifications and cooking preperations. And you had just posted this video. What a lovely day!!!
Ayyy that’s lit I just learned about a year ago how to ID and eat them sooo tasty! I recommend this style way to cook em like pulled meat sauced or I also recommend breading them and frying them can make a chicken sandwich so tender! Much puck and peace on your mushroom travels friend!🙏🏼
Chum salmon are also sooo delicious to just dry in the sun and eat through the winter months, dipped in seal oil. That is how we traditionally eat it on Nunivak Island where my mother is from.
I'd like to go to Alaska one day. I think it would be cool go on a boating excursion through there. I'd like to go to British Columbia too, and if I can go to Alaska on the same trip, it'd be awesome. Alaska does look stunning. Cheers!
I am new to your channel. I started watching after you did colab videos with Chef Hiro. My husband is a hunter and I stayed home with the kids. Now they are almost grown and I go out with him. I bought a nice camera and while he goes hunting I take pictures. I just bought a book about mushrooms in my area after watching this. Thank you for inspiring me. We are hoping to do more fishing and exploring this year.
Love chicken of the woods! Got some chicken of the woods, black trumpets, and some chanterelles minors in the fridge right now all the way over in Pennsylvania! Love these kinds videos glad I found this channel. I’ve been into foraging and outdoor cooking a lot and these videos are a blessing! Peace and love stay safe!
The way you opined over the life cycle of the salmon was excellent and true. Probably some people didn't know that. The stunning beauty of life. And all the ecosystem benefits from it.
I have watched many many of your videos but this one truly hit the top of the list for me. You and Jocelyn make an incredible team, you are both very fortunate.
Chicken of the woods! Something I didn’t expect to find when I moved up here but it’s everywhere. I’m currently sat in my backyard here in Sitka smoking some king salmon on a homemade smoker. Your smoked pink salmon video inspired me. Thanks!
chicken of the woods cooking advice; in this vid he still had them slimy and when eatin at that stage its pretty the same as eating a portabelo sandwich but if you cook them till they're dryer they get crispy and take on the texture of chicken waaay more with a little crunch. if you put butter or like him some sauce on them after that is peeerrrffecctt
Chicken of the woods is one of, if not the most, protein packed mushrooms there are. All of the other ones are water, maybe a couple carbs, some vitamins and minerals. But COTW is straight up a plant meat. It's awesome. Cook thoroughly. You found some choice fruits! Great vid.
Wow what an amazing sight. I am jealous of your Alaska trip but happy for you guys at the same time. Keep giving us great content Mr. and Lady Outdoor Chef!
I agree to this. Taku is way underated but his videos kept on improving and honestly, I just feel lucky I have something to watch on Wednesdays. GMT +8
It's a vegetarian meal with the mushrooms I never tried that always use jackfruit but definitely I will try it with mushrooms. Nice video and looks sooo peaceful and I bet the air is so fresh also the nature. Thank you and hope you showed us the sunset that will be the best.
Of all the folks making videos, Taku I know you are finding the real beauty and adventure of that great land! Soon the termination dust will start to fall and you will have to leave or be stuck.... are you driving back or taking the ferry? Keep living the dream.
Finally subscribed! I am immensely impressed by your approach. You are the reverse of a lot of youtubers. You're not a fisherman trying to figure out how to sell merchandise. You have a great talent and let stuff come to you! Also, you are the one guy I wouldn't want to get into a knife fight with, lol. I would end up getting served on shari rice. 🤣
Thank you for an awesome video! Truly, the circle of life, giving your life for the next generation. Having an ingrained navigation travelling thousands of miles with no guarantee that you'll get back to deliver the next generation. Amazing, stay safe and healthy!
I love the foraging episodes. I found my first chicken of the woods last night… 8.5 lbs!!!!!! People aren’t kidding when they say they taste like actual chicken.
I love your channel. I live in Northern Humboldt County California on the Klamath river and it is eel, sturgeon and salmon time of the year as well as mushroom season as well. Keep up the awesome work you do, I totally admire your presentation as well as passion.
Great video Taku ! What a Special find on those mushrooms, Dr. Kevin would have Loved those and the Awesome recipe. The series has been a Fun one , Can't wait for what's Next ! 💕🎣🚐🌟👍
Perfect! I was just going to suggest featuring some of our diverse fall fungi, and here you are doing just that! So pleased you are enjoying your time here in Alaska. You have done a wonderful job of showcasing why we love living here. It's moose season, so perhaps you can get in on that before heading south.
Dopest footage of the year bro awesome awesome meal. I do a lot of foraging you can actually take the forest floor, clean leaves, small branches, berries etc. (All edible) and roast apples pears etc. It's beautiful has a delightful fragrance and taste . Try in video
you found so much COW in one place in the perfect condition! so young, tender, bug free, and beautiful! i've only ever found one in that condition and way smaller in my 6+ years of mushroom foraging. what a gift from nature, enjoy!
Honestly. You have such hard Bob Ross Vibes the way you talk and soothe your Voice down and sound calming. It's like watching a Parallel Universe where Bob would've been an amazing Chef and painted with Food. And I don't mean to offend, you're amazing. Like literaly. I don't know I just see so much Influence and Love in this that it really makes me smile. Thank you for that.
I’ve never wanted to try a mushroom so badly in my life. Great video as always Taku! You are my new favorite channel. Always look forward to Taku Tuesdays! I’m telling everyone who will listen about your videos
I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH. just wanted to say... before i even start watching 🤣 hope the day comes when you guys hold a meet up. i can see all of us chilling in a beer house somewhere ☺️🤌
My favorite way to eat chicken of the woods is in curry....more mushroom videos please, Ive been hunting them for years, and want to see more people join in on this hobby
Awesome find with the wild mushrooms. If you didn't catch any salmon, you got something else, and the way you prepared the mushrooms looked great. Cheers! #TakuTuesday ✌️
Omg I love everything about this video! Thanks for a great content and being so considerate for the viewers! Thanks for explaining the salmon cycle for us to understand more about the nature! Love you and Jocelyn!❤😍😁
It's pretty cool seeing you on my Hometown that that Creek you were filming was called sheep Creek it used to be a hatchery at one point Not area where you decided to make your mushroom pulled pork sandwiches was North this was North Douglas I could tell because the angle in the background you could see the Mendenhall glacier I'm happy you guys got to experience my Hometown and also a little bit of what Southeast Alaska has to offer 😀
I'll have to barbecue some next time I find some. I've only sauted them with salt and butter, but I really love the taste and texture. Chicken of the woods is my next favorite behind a Morel. Real treasures, and that was a great score finding that cluster.
really enjoyed the episode! Loved the footage of the eagles and the salmon, what an experience that must of been. Nice segment on how special the salmon are!
Tbh the foraging episodes are some of my favorites, even more than fishing for big lingcod and salmon.

Salmon are literally the coolest fish. I think its so amazing what they do within their life cycle.
It's a vegetarian meal with the mushrooms I never tried that always use jackfruit but definitely I will try it with mushrooms. Nice video and looks sooo peaceful and I bet the air is so fresh also the nature. Thank you and hope you showed us the sunset that will be the best.

Liked the educational monologue, worthy of a spot on NatGeo.
What’s a life you two have! Enjoy and stay healthy as always.
Definitely one of the best ways to eat Chicken of the Woods is the pulled pork way. Number one is chicken strips or nuggets. My kids love the nuggets.
Awesome find with the wild mushrooms. If you didn't catch any salmon, you got something else, and the way you prepared the mushrooms looked great. Cheers! #TakuTuesday ✌️
I like the mushroom episodes. thanks for the salmon lessons
The wonders of nature ... it's chaotic, brilliant and totally incomprehensible to our feeble minds.
