  • We headed up some of Scotland's highest big mountains , Aonach Mor & Aonach Beag, hiking past some superb waterfalls on the way and also finding some early season snow on the tops. These mountains are some of the biggest in Scotland with a view to the highest and biggest of them all - The Ben. A great day out and some fabulous views :)

    Once again great video Murry, thanks for sharing. brought back lots of wonderful memories. I did this with a friend years ago in winter, we camped in the glen, after a long day on the hill, sitting in the tent I said " all we need not is a dram" no drams tonight came the reply, I replied " check YOUR rucsac, I had slipped in two hip flacks as we left the car. Happy times

    Murray, It just makes me happy to watch your videos. I love to peak bag too and I am in America. Unfortunately, we don't have ones like yours. You are always in a tunnel in this country. Rarely until you get way above tree line do you hit the open lands and skies like Scotland. I lived in Glasgow in College for a bit and was at the Art School with all of the McIntosh influence (before the library burned the last two times) and I miss it up there so much. Keep up the amazing work my friend! My channel isn't nearly as dynamic as yours but I am mostly about photography and the outdoors. Ill catch up. :-)

    Superb!!! I went up that way in September and bivvied on the big flat bit you walked straight over below Sgurr a Bhuic at 800m. Then the Aonachs, down to the bealach then up the CMD east ridge. Bivvied there then the arete. One of the best walk of my life! Cheers, another excellent vid.

    Best viewing of the week again.
    One of my most unnerving descents coming off these two, no sign of the path you came down but hardly surprising given it was December. Fortunately the snow was soft and didn’t feel slippy but looking down it felt almost vertical. Enjoyed the walk out through the Corrie though, probably the relief in getting down safely. All the best Paul.

    • @ScotlandsMountains
      @ScotlandsMountains  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That path down from the Aonachs to the bealach at the bottom of Carn Mor Dearg is insanely steep. I have only done it the other way, up the hill in the eastern direction towards the Mamores. The ground does look as though it is getting eroded cutting up quite badly.

    For once, I recognise that Glen. We were up there in the summer and oddly, 2 sets of people were looking for the tourist path near the ruins. As one couple were only equipped with a carrier bag and a Mac in a sac, we advised them not to go for The Ben. Being only the 2nd car in the carpark, we had a lovely quiet day up the Glen, but returned to a find tourist beer swilling hellhole car park. Such a shame.

      I had an old acquaintance, who once let it slip that he once went to climb Aonach Beag from Steall and summited to find an observatory and a crowd of people ;) lol

    I don't suppose you were in... Scotland, were you? 🤣
    Last and only time I was in that area was when my dad and I went up the Ben, in 1990 and had a spectacular view. I'm hoping in the next few years to do the same again, with my son. Fingers crossed that I can make that happen! Thanks for another great video.

    Another good ‘un Murray. I noticed that you take a lot of pathless routes. I always stick to my Walk Highlands guides. If you have a free gap in your schedule, I think your audience (especially me!) would like to see what skills you and Gerry use to guide to point to point. Keep up the great work 🤘🏽

    Murray. Amazing Vlog yet again! You seem to be blessed with the clouds parting (almost) everywhere you go!! Quick question. Where exactly did you come off the bealach and into the coire at the end. It looked like you were directly opposite the watershed ridge up to CMD? Was it the slightly wider ridge running west off Seang Aonach Mor, as the only other way I can see on the map is to head to the top of the coire up past the ski-lift and then down the long way!?!

    • @ScotlandsMountains
      @ScotlandsMountains  3 ปีที่แล้ว
