    That story about the milk maids used to be taught in school. The milk maids never caught smallpox because they'd been exposed to cowpox, which was similar enough to give them immunity. Regarding your video; I'm speechless, which doesn't often happen. I can't think of words to write.

    My son asked me "what's the one place in Scotland you haven't been and want to visit?". The Cuillin was my answer. He then drove that day, from Sunderland to Skye and sent me a pic with the ridge in the background! I'll get there this year...thanks for another great vid Murray, and I always appreciate Gerry's knowledge.

    Thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏- I got pretty emotional watching this. I fell in love with Scotland, whisky and a young lady as a teenager on a school trip to the Black Cuillins back in the late '70s. Camping at Glen Brittle was magical back then, as was holding hands and sharing Kendal mint cake atop Sgurr Alasdair as the clouds cleared. The love of Scotland and whisky endured!

    With weather like that Murray, there's nowhere better to be. I've plenty of photos from the Cuillin Ridge but as you say, there's nothing like seeing those views and logging them away in your memory to be brought out when you watch films like this. Thanks for all the work you put into these vlogs and long may you continue to share them with us. All the best to you and Gerry and I hope his finger has now healed up.

Sgurr na Banadich was my last Munro 4 yrs ago and I got foul weather for the whole trip so the photos were rubbish and my mates champagne supplied, got drowned in the rain. Oh really brought back some good memories this one Murray
    I had to say goodbye to my 2 border terriers recently nearly 14 years old .
    I've been to skye many times but when they where both around 2 years old I took them both up sgurr Alistair via the shoot tilly in my back pack with her head popping out the top and jack made it all the way himself .
    When we got back to the campsite at Glen brittle jacks paws 🐾 literally had steam coming off them after poring a bottle of water on them . And nearly having my fingers chewed off with the amount of food they ate they never made a sound till the morning 🌄 they where 2 tiered dogs 🐕
    That was a good day

    As an Australian viewer who lives in Indonesia, I appreciate your videos as the best form of escapism. It always intrigues me as to how treeless the hills and mountains of Scotland are and a google search revealed that deforestation has left just 4% of native forest. I wonder if you would consider doing a program on this? Rather than historical factors, I would love to hear your perspective as a hiker, nature enthusiast and thoroughly modern Scotsman.

    Anywhere else that hill would be lauded as a great. But it's in the Cullin so it gets missed out which is a shame because it has great views. The weather looked fantastic but you did all look a little cold. I hope Gerry's finger healed up ok.

      @@ScotlandsMountains it so is. I've done almost all the major tops and a few of the classic scrambles (guided, I have to say) and I'll keep going back as long as I'm fit enough. Despite me doing almost no other hillwalking the Cullin and Skye keep me going back.

    Looks relatively easy, I have done Blaven, how does this compare?

    • @ScotlandsMountains
      @ScotlandsMountains  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David / it’s hard to say what is easy and what is not as it always depends on conditions and the person climbing it - I would put it on a par with Bla Bheinn - maybe check out the excellent Walkhighlands page for descriptions and user reports 👍👍👍

      @@ScotlandsMountains Thank you Murray for taking the time to answer my question, what I'm trying to work out is a not too challenging route on to the black cuillin ridge for my walking group, they have done a few scrambles before and difficult hikes, but they would not be mountaineers, they have done Bla Bhienn ascending via the route that goes NW from Slat Bheinn and down the Tourist Route, so they're are reasonably capable. Thank you for your advice and love your videos. PS ever hiked in Northern Ireland?
