Dude is fishy af. If he was “lonely” and “needed somebody to talk to” he should have went to his “best friend” or one of his other good friends. You don’t go for your friends ex girlfriend bc you “need someone to talk to.” Like nahh I feel like dude always wanted her but couldn’t have her bc she was with the friend & was just waiting on his chance so when they broke up he went straight at her trying to get with her & that’s fucked up on SOOO many levels. I don’t really believe in the “bro/girl code” bc if two people want to be together it shouldn’t matter who their ex’s are, BUT I feel like IF you’re going to go after a friends ex then you need to be talking to the friend first and let them know like “hey man I wanna talk to so & so but I wanted to let you know first so you wouldn’t feel blindsided.” That’s my opinion tho 🤷🏻♀️
In my 25+ years of friendship, I've only liked one of my best friend's ex's. When they broke up, I did think what if, but then immediately thought it's not worth it. That was almost 10 years ago and me and my best friend still talk to this day. At the end of the day, it's about establishing your values remaining steadfast

my ex and i broke up while she was getting close to my best friend too. they went on dates to universal and other theme parks while i was attached and they got together within a month after we broke up. i feel the hurt man
He did not hit her up because he was “lonely”, he had his eyes on her for a while. With the way a majority of these boys operate, the only reason this kid had contacts with his friend’s ex was because they were friends--and a majority of these boys only befriend girls they find conveniently attractive and/or they believe they might have that chance to be with that girl.
He should never forgive them. That is just low and nasty.
I wouldn’t revisit the friendship simply because trust was broken. I feel that this type of behavior will continue to be replicated since they were forgiven without consequence. Once you show me that you were seeking something I have, I’ll simply question what else you’ll take from me. That behavior exudes jealousy to me.
I wouldn’t rekindle this kind of friendship. Dude broke the bro code and disrespected his friend by going behind his back. Glad that the main guy wanted closure and he sorta got it but it’s not much of a loss for a friend. There’s better friends out there I promise!
