I could feel her pain bcz my bestfriend started ignoring me for our another common friend..she starting prioritising her more....and that's how we ended up being strangers...that hurts alot.....and when I tried to talk to her she said that we both are equally important to her but how can two people hold some positions at one place???? The worst part comes when you realize that the other person feel distracted or bored while talking to you even though it's the same person whom you used to talk to randomly. It hurts to witness them as past tense... little little fun moments, affection, care, limitless phone calls, bickerings, hanging out & the list go on.

My heart broke for both Alyssa and I. The amount of times I’ve heard that ringtone when trying to call my best friend is insane. It’s so bad I hear it in my head whenever I simply read the words of it. I am so sorry Alyssa, and you are so brave for leaving the voicemail. I wouldn’t. I know I just wouldn’t have the voice cords for it. I am not the crying type, but simply thinking about how our friendship has gone bad, and how if I try to reach out to her right now nothing will change makes me want to throw up. I started crying the moment you started talking about her because I recognize every voice crack, every sentence, every emotion you have felt. I feel it every time I remember her.
I just wish things didn’t turn out the way they did.

Friend dumped after 18 years and I was always there supporting her LMAO!!! Got back with her ex and let all her male friends go to build trust, which is another way of saying he's a jealous mofo. this just proves how important it is to communicate with the people we love, it’s how we keep our relationships going (family, platonic, friendships, romantic)
has to be a two way street though, it happens a lot in relationships. There is someone who cares and someone who neglects. You shouldn't be the one caring if they neglect you.

Me too, this video hurt so much to watch. I recently had to cut off my ex best friend because she got abusive and then ghosted me because of a boy. In the time she wasn’t talking to me I thought back on our friendship and I realized she really was treating me in toxic ways. I’d spend nights crying because of her. Yes I’m glad she’s out of my life but after I left her life she sent me a text saying I was awful for leaving. Thinking about her and how our friendship went down is really hard for me to think about and in this video I’d mention her and calling her would be the hardest thing to do.

This actually happened to me. I was in a really bad headspace that time and was a little bit annoying and never really took into consideration about how my best friend felt. A few days later she told me that i was annoying and ghosted me. She found new friends but i couldnt move on after all i was in a really bad headspace and she was the one i found most comfort to be with. Then i found a text from her saying if we wanted to hang out later because her new friends were being a-holes and only used her for her artistic talent. I said yes and we then made up. Still hurts me to this day to find out that my bestfriend was getting tired+annoyed of me but luckily that situation never happened again and we are still really close.

As someone who has moved around a lot, backpacked across over 50 countries, and met more people than I can remember, I am a self proclaimed expert in surface-level friendships. You can meet amazing people, you can meet people who "get you" and everything just clicks. However, no friendship will ever be better than the best friend you lost in high school or just after college. It just won't because as we age our experiences harden us and they take away our innocence, our capability to feel as intense.
That is something that dawned upon me just like 6 months ago. It sucks but if I am to be honest with myself I don't think I am capable of having a best friend any longer.

I feel like I am incapable of having any friends. Usually, the people I connect with the most only are around for a couple weeks or months and move away or I move away. As I have gotten older I now keep to myself to avoid the pain.

But I see myself growing more and more detached from people, unable to connect beyond any surface-level interaction. As another comment said, it's more networking than friendship.
I don't know if it's social media, the internet, or a fact of growing up but the reality is that most of the time I feel alone and I just fill my life with sporadic social interactions that don't really amount to anything. And it's not just other people's fault. It's my fault as well.

I’ve reached out and reconnected with a few long lost friends, but it never works out in the long run. Its undeniable that reaching out to basic strangers that you used to know in hope of friendship is a sad thing to do and they will definitely look down on you for it. My advice is to keep marching on there in you’re past for a reason and I refuse to be rejected by the same person multiple times it’s soul destroying and we must protect our hearts at all cost.
I cannot agree with you enough. I’ve had to reach out to one friend multiple times, never them. The worst is when you have heart to heart talks with them and you can pick up on that they value someone else more than you and that for that person they do reach out, but never you.
Advice to you is keep on moving forward and don’t look back.

This made me emotional because I was finally able to talk to one of my dearest friends over the phone this week who I had not heard from for 8 months. My friend had mental problems and ghosted me. I've sent her a voicemail a few days ago and she responded, saying "I'm just not someone who can be a friend."
I don't know what to feel.
When I talked to her, my life felt like it was healing in super speed; her humour, remarks, strange and resilient mind was so addicting I don't know how to accept her abandoning me.

I can relate to that so much. It just came out of nowhere. And to make things even worse, she became friends with almost everyone in our common circle of friends (my only circle by the way).Two years and it still hurts. The worst part? I never got an explanation besides that her "conveniences and life style have changed" + I had an additional reason to leave those friends behind.

I am autistic too!! I had such a nice friend for the past six years. She really understood me and communicating with her was easier than with anyone else. I felt safest with her and I could unmask easiest when I was with her. Last year, our friendship really reached a new heights. I thought this it, we are sisters. I am not alone anymore. But now we haven’t really hung out since my birthday in October. I tried so much to get in touch with her, I did my very best to not stress out. To keep my cool and do not force my friendship upon her, but I think it’s really over. She has new friends. She has a new boyfriend. She has a very nice job. I’m very happy for her but I am so sad that I cannot be part of it anymore. I don’t understand why, I truly don’t understand. I wish I could just understand. It’s like there’s a hole in my heart.

I feel like thats not exactly true i mean most of them cared to call them that's enough just to think about somebody and they were all emotional showing they truly loved these people.
Tell me about it. My friend traded me for someone who bullied me, they would threaten me for no reason. But, I got the help I needed and I feel much more confident in myself.
I am moving so I am glad I won’t have to go to high school with them. People that that do not deserve your friendship. Don’t let them take advantage of you.

I had a childhood best friend. We’d known each other since we were 4. We would hold hands when we crossed the street and walk to the bus together. When we started growing up, he went to all my soccer games and I went to all his basketball games. We used to spend hours lying in the hammock in his back yard, just talking because being with each other was all we needed. I loved him, and he loved me too. We talked about everything, then one day he became a stranger. I never figured out what happened, or why he stopped talking to me but life goes on. Even now years later I’ll stumble along a photograph, or a board game we used to play and remember him. I wonder how he’s doing, and if he’s happier now then he was before. I hope he has found people to love him like I have.
it could be that he had/has mental health issues. My childhood best friend stopped reciprocating in our friendship for seemingly no reason in my mind. Turned out she had a rough home life and an abusive relationship with her boyfriend. I had no idea. She had depression and anxiety, and that was why she stopped talking to me. Anyways, if you want to, you should try reaching out if you have a way...I decided to reach out one day because I had nothing to lose, and it was so worth it. My childhood friend and I are close again, and we both missed each other.

Happened to me I had this gang of friends I introduced all of them to each other....and now I am the loneliest kid who well lost all her friends it sucks.a lot.
I met my female friend at my first job in a grocery store
She was amazing and still is.
We did almost everything together. She also was the first person who I generally shared a drink
What changed the most was when she got into a relationship and from there, we just stopped talking to each other.
That last time I spent time with her was when she asked me to help her with laundry
That was Jan or April of 2022
The last message I sent her was to not overwork herself to much
(She tends to do that) and to take care of herself.

The worst feeling is when your best friend just stops talking to you with no explanation. Nothing happened between the two of you. You just stop communicating until theirs nothing left but feelings of sadness and guilt as though you did something wrong.

Same thing, and it really hurts when you two study at same school and every time when you see that they are having fun with others, treating you like a stranger, you just can't understand why, and you just start blame yourself and also you cannot make other friends because you are afraid that they also leave you or start thinking that no one wants to be friends with you

funny that’s exactly what happened to me i met her in 6th grade and we were inseparable throughout middle school you would always see us together and since I’ve never had a best friend like that i thought i finally found the right person until we reached high school she stopped talking to me, we lost communication and has treated me like a stranger she still does and i always had this guilty feeling that it was my fault
I experienced this. She keeps in contact with her other friends, but not me.
after having nearly lost all my close friends, one of them which I was super close to (way over 10 years now is a complete stranger) I've realized that becoming too attached to them ends up hurting us way more than it should. I love them all, but now I've seen that being more independent is better in the long run. i don't wish to stay lonesome forever but neither do I need nor desire to feel the same pain twice.
Same here. I am sensitive and I can no longer endure this breakup pain. It takes longer for me to get better.

I cried watching this video. Losing a friend is the worst thing ever. It's also torture when you fear that your current friends will leave you eventually. At the end of the day, no matter what happens, you just have to be the best version of you and also the best friend you can be.

I went through a bad "friend breakup" in March. She cut me off and said she couldn't handle me but didn't ever really explain why. I know I wasn't a perfect friend but I thought our friendship would last. Looking back I can see how our personalities made our friendship stressful but I wish we'd been able to talk about it. I never got a chance to talk about what went wrong with her or to try to fix things. She abandoned me when she was one of my closest friends.

It's like so awkward when you come across them.. you don't really want to talk to them anymore even though just a year before they were one of the few people you could talk to. Just lost a friend group that have been my road dogs for the last 4 years of my life and I can’t forgive myself ever. Kudos to all of these individuals. I know I wouldn’t have the courage to call my “best friend”, especially after being the one who ended things. Hopefully they found closure with this.
I’ve had a few friendships fade away and have reached out to those friends to try and reconnect but it’s never the same. I’ve learned to live with that fact at least having the memories with those people that keeps me from thinking awful things about me or the other person.
It’s really hard and I feel Alyssa’s pain. She was really brave to leave a voicemail, I don’t know if I could.
She wasn’t good for me but sometimes I just miss her...
Sadly, we all go through that. You just have to realize, that despite the pain of losing your friend, it made you a stronger and probably also a better person. We shouldn't hang out with people who bring out the worst in us.

The worst thing about friends is when you were friends for such a long time then all of a sudden everything changed and you guys don’t talk to each other anymore and you go from BFFS to strangers in such a short amount of time that you don’t even get to say goodbye and it just ends of with one last glance at each other until you don’t even look at each for a second in the hallway
I had the same experience. We've been friends since childhood ( I was six, she was five years old) We had so much fun together, but then her family moved to England.
She came back to Kazakhstan two years ago, but we don't talk as much as before (like we had one meeting and that's it). The last message she sended me was the wish for my 15th birthday. Still love her :(
I had a friend named Declan in grade 5 and he was a shorter kid and he had Tourette syndrome. He was so kind and funny and I loved him so much (as a friend). He didn't have many friends so he really wanted to exchange numbers so we could text and call eachother. He gave me his number multiple times and every time I lost the paper he would write it on. I remember once having it and writing it down in one of my sketch books. He had to leave and I can't find him at the school I go to now (middle school). Last week I remembered him and started crying because I didn't know if he was doing okay or not. I found the sketch book I had wrote his number in and opened it to the last page to find "My Friends Numbers" written at the top and nothing below it. I was in tears that night and I hope he is not getting bullied for his conditions. I feel almost broken because of this and I hate myself for being so clumsy and forgetful.
