  • Another old work truck that has been Frankensteined and hodge podged together out of parts from like 15 different vehicles. Runs great!

    I miss my dads truck like this. When trucks were trucks and the working man was able to afford them, all you got now are rich fake cowboys making 200,000 a year as a engineer who are buying these trucks now for 100,000.

      Well I always drove a pickup truck because I needed them for work, didn't do it to be cool didn't do it to make a statement I just needed a truck, now I'm almost embarrassed to drive one because all the fucking idiots that want to try to be cool, go buy a fucking Prius you bunch of shit heads leave the truck to the working man and quit driving the prices up so we can't fucking well afford it

    Im in the process of restoring a 1980 gmc 350 small block sm465. It runs and shifts as smooth as yours looks like it does. Good job on shifting young man you have the revs and speed down pat to allow for smooth gear shifting.

    How hard is that thing to shift in traffic it's been awhile since I've driven a manual and I'm looking at a square with an sm465 in it and what gear do you Start off in 1st or second?

    • @CrazyWoody1989
      @CrazyWoody1989  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not too bad to shift, and I almost always take off in second gear unless I'm pulling a trailer.

      Nice thing about the transmissions with a low first is that you can idle along in slow moving traffic!

    • @CrazyWoody1989
      @CrazyWoody1989  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      2nd gear in the sm465 is about the same as 1st in a regular 4 or 5 speed so it's no problem at all to take off. Really 1st is only good if the truck is loaded down, pulling a trailer or if I wanna crawl around real slow. I'm not all that familiar with how those old fords are geared but I'd say it's very similar. If it doesn't like taking off in 2nd it may just be becauae it has pretty high rearend gears. In which case you would just have to deal with the aggravation of taking off in granny low all the time unfortunately.

      Fair warning tha saginaw transmissions are not very durable. The saginaw was put behind chevy v6 and inline 6 motors, its easy to blow them up with a 300hp v8.

    Dang! i wish that would be my first vehicle. Is it a dually? 👍❤️

    • @CrazyWoody1989
      @CrazyWoody1989  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ThetreeDraggon No it's a single rear wheel on this one with a regular bed. The 454/400 truck I drove in a different video was a dually and it had a flat bed on it

    • @ThetreeDraggon
      @ThetreeDraggon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @CrazyWoody1989 that's awesome! dude. Even though the single rear wheels probably do better on mileage, I personally would probably go for the dually long bed so that I could haul little more weight in the back of it. Like we normally would use it if not for hauling a ton of animal feed for our ranch, we would use it for hauling a bale or two of bedding hay in the back of it every now and then, or for towing our 8000 pound travel trailer with, so i would probably slap some tow mirrors on it too. 👍 ❤️

    • @CrazyWoody1989
      @CrazyWoody1989  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ThetreeDraggon When I put the truck together I took a leaf or two out of both the rear spring packs to soften/level it some and even after that we've hauled 3500 or 4000 lbs of dirt in the bed and my car trailer almost never gets unhooked off from it lol. You can really load them down

    • @ThetreeDraggon
      @ThetreeDraggon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @CrazyWoody1989 yeah I heard they where beast. 4000 lbs in the back without springs or dual wheels though? that's insane! That's like the weight of our tractor without the loader or backhoe on it. 😂👍

    • @CrazyWoody1989
      @CrazyWoody1989  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ThetreeDraggon It squatted it pretty good but it didn't bottom out the over load springs surprisingly. Felt about the same as pulling a loaded trailer as far as how well it would take off and pull lol

      Yeah it drives and rides pretty nice! It's kinda harsh over bigger bumps and pot holes just because of the stiff springs but even that isn't terrible. It rides real nice with a load of wood on it or a loaded trailer hooked up 😂
