@Phil-Paris-France Only going by what I was told. Wow, splitting hairs. I'm 1 Yr 4 months out. Sorry I've upset you.!!!! And so what she was still young.!!!?
She's the first female guitarist to shatter my stereotype on "chicks shredding." Yea, perhaps naively sexist but when you see her also play Yngwie, Vai, and Becker with pretty modest accuracy before the age of 18, kinda humbles any sane guy. Despite just coming back to TH-cam, she took a long hiatus, and many speculate it may have been attributed to the toxic side of TH-cam, of a bunch of man-children either being perverts or outright insulting her playing if she missed a single note, as if these armchair guitarists could muster half her skill twice her age. She's a true guitar enthusiast gem.
TH-cam can be brutal sometimes. I hope she’s ok. Maybe she just needed time to figure out how to turn these skills into her “voice”? I wanna see what she does now.
Absolutely and unbelievable cover of Steve Vai....she is simply amazing....Holy Crap about covers it Michael....😂😂 Dragon Force "Through fire and flames" is freaking amazing as well. This one from 8 years ago ....she is now 24 so maybe 15 or 16 here Michael. We are not worthy.
" I've got blisters on my fingers"!! How has she not wore her fingers down to the knuckles is a mystery unto itself. To show how much I don't know, I didn't think you could play this sonata set to a guitar?! She's definitely gifted. Haha and the little smile at the end was great.. Rock on, Tina S. !!!
I love watching professional musicians watching her play. She is ungodly good and so clean and precise! Her arpeggios, pinch harmonics and vibratos are amazing. I watch reactions of her whenever I can. She’s got an amazing playlist!!
she was 17 at the time and she took up music pretty young from what I read, she has been described as a prodigy to some extent. I have watched her video of this maybe 50 times and never tire of it.
There used to be other videos of here that were taken down, when she was 5 or 6, playing a full size classical guitar. She probably doesn't even remember life before guitar.
Tina S, is somewhat of a celebrity/enigma on TH-cam & known generally among guitarists of most genres. One thing is for certain, she is undoubtedly at prodigy/genius level. Phrasing, timing, speed, dexterity & more importantly, as you observed, looks completely uninterested in playing what is obviously an incredibly complex composition. That's just her way.
Tina S is amazing! I highly recommend her covers of "through the fire and flames" from Dragon Force, "For the love of god" by Steve Via, And "Altitudes" by Jason Becker. Don't take it too hard. Your not the only one Tina has made reevaluate our lives. lol
Every single time I watch this video I am genuinely crying (I am 51) I have never ever seen and heard anything like this in my entire life !!!…this is just INSANE AND ABSOLUTELY INSANE
This is an arrangement by Dr Viossy. This was apparently the last of the set of videos recorded by her teacher in 2016 when she was 17 years old. She's absolutely incredible. Name me only one guitarist who can play this piece, Moonlight Sonata, like this or better. In fact, there is a video that features both and Dr Viossy for you to check out, to prove my point. It's the closest you get, after all, it's his arrangement. Check out the remaining 13 covers that she did if you will. I like your reaction.
I have watched so many people react to this video now. Someone below commented that her instructor says she learned this piece in 2 months on her summer vacation>!? Wow. A professional guitar instructor on another reaction video believed it would take tens of hours to master 6 seconds of it. Truly a prodigy. I have watched others play it but only Tina plays it flawlessly. Glad to hear she is back on TH-cam now that she is finished college
Funny. I watched another guitarist react to her and say he'd seen other people do this piece on guitar just as well or maybe better. And maybe he has, I guess, but I haven't found it if it's out there.
Her vibrato is the way it is because as a toddler, she learned classical first. So that vibrato is like that of a violinist. She raps with her second, third AND fourth fingers. Most to Rick the pick in their pinky, but she keeps it where it is supposed to be and does the tapping with the other 3 fingers. Also from her finger picking as a classical guitarist when she was little. I don’t know of anyone better than her here. Even Mr. Lee did a reaction to her playing his, through the fire and the flames, and he was impressed. He asked her on his video to contact him and come play with them when they are in Europe. Her picking speed on that one is insane and she never seems to look tired.
I’m not a violin expert but I don’t think the vibrato is produced the same way as on guitar on account it has no frets. Plus vibrato on violin goes above and below the fundamental note whereas guitar vibrato is only sharp of the main pitch….if you ask me, that’s Zack Wylde vibrato all day. Having said that, the violin is probably why she took up electric guitar so quickly. ✌️
Thank you universe for those blessed with talents!.... It's a pleasure to come across something/someone like that... isn't it?! Thanks for the reaction.
Ya gotta take a break when watching one of the best guitarists in the world. Seriously, there are probably about 1,000 of them. But when you consider the fact that there is almost 9 billion ppl, being considered 1 in a 1,000 is amazing. Even in an abstract profession like the music industry, you still have to recognize master level.
I wrestled the third movement of Moonlight Sonata on piano for a looonng time. Tina S has not only mastered it on guitar, she has added complexity into even the most complex and difficult passages! The only thing I could think while she was playing was how astonished and thrilled Beethoven himself would be to hear her play it, and how inspired and driven he would be to write something for her and her guitar!
Wow, she flies across that fret board like she has an extra four brains for her left hand. To say that was impressive would be the understatement of the year.
Check YT and other interpretations of the same by other guitarists, none comes close to her level of precision, just a fact. The other great thing about Tina is that her talent is more than enough to get millions of views and SHE does not need to show off her body to get clicks the others can only dream of. She just killed the game, she is the reference to guitar excellence. I wish she played hours of classical music on the electric guitar. I would then buy all her records.
You should check out her cover of Dragonforce's through the fire and flames. It's insane! Herman Li of Drangonforce reacted to her cover and was blown away. He gave her an open invite to jam with him or the band anytime she wants in his reaction.
Tina is absolutely a genius level prodigy. This was the last video she released for about six years until this last year when she released several songs with her band "Spin Twice". There is another young prodigy you should check out. She is Yoyoka Soma of Japan. At the age of 8 Yoyoka entered the contest "Hit Like a Girl" covering Led Zepplin's "Good Times Bad Times. She won that weeks contest receiving rave reviews from Robert Plant among others. At the age of 11 Yoyoka was named by the publication Drummers World to it's list of 500 greatest drummers, making Yoyoka the youngest person to be so honored. Also that year Yoyoka was awarded a visiting professorship to a Tokyo university. Yoyoka was lucky enough to be born into an extremely musical family and has been playing the drums since just after learning to crawl. Yoyoka turned 14 earlier this year. The following is her cover of ~ Tower of Power - What is Hip? / Drum Covered by YOYOKA ~ th-cam.com/video/0xTkXZUYBFw/w-d-xo.html Another mind blowing cover ~ Sting - Seven Days / Drum Covered by YOYOKA ~ th-cam.com/video/0MGxV808ht8/w-d-xo.html
She don't care about musicians, songs, bands, she doesn't want to talk to them and meet them. It is only the technique, the prowess, the virtuosity, the challenge that interests her. Otherwise she would have done lots of covers like the other girls and boys on TH-cam!
Tima's most viral is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. In any case, at this stage of her career, ( 7-8 YEARS AGO)she was the best of all time. Why? She played all the most difficult guitarist's work and did it as good or better, whereas they only did themselves. In addition she did Beethoven and Vivaldi. There was nobody who could match her. Today, she has a group, Spin Twice, and it does not showcase the prodigious talents she demonstrated here. Still, whatever she does, she deserves to be remembered for her work here. She still blows me away 7-8 years ago. The Mona Lisa is the greatest painting, and that was done over 500 years ago. I am hoping these videos are archived and able to be viewed 100 years from now.
She is crazy good, and that she plays Dr Viossy's guitar transcription note for note is totally insane. Even if i cannot play even as half as good like her, i admire her playing and get inspired from watching it.
I've been playing guitar for 25 years, I would say 22 years of real playing though since I didn't start lessons until I was 13...I'm 35 now... fuck I feel old. I remember the first time I saw one of Tina's videos and sat back and realized I've been playing guitar longer than she has been alive and she could still wipe the floor with me and I would gladly take it and ask for seconds because her skill is fucking phenomenal and I have no probs bowing out to her. First time I heard her cover of this song I went to look up the tabs and wanted to cry, playing it at like 50% speed is... somewhat manageable.. well maybe more like 25% speed lol. For anyone that's curious I just checked her channel and she just recently started posting vids again, I think she's releasing original music too, she took like a 7 year hiatus, you can 100% tell that she was born to shred.
See you've checked out Band-Maid. Have you heard of Lovebites? Fan of 80s metal - Metallica, Megadeth, Priest, Maiden? If so, you have to check out Lovebites. Not to mention they have two lead guitarists that I haven't seen play like they do since Becker / Friedman...virtuoso level. I would check out Judgement Day live 2023 from their official YT channel. Wonderful backstory with these ladies, vocalist (Asami) has R&B background, drummer is 4' 9" aka Little Big Engine and doesn't miss a beat. New bassist, 21yr old virtuoso Fami who slaps bass with the best of them. Incredible musicianship, hope you'll check them out. 🤘
4 years of practice to play this, and 2 months to learn it. After only 1 year she was playing Eruption by Van Halen and he sent her congratulations and an invitation, she was only 14 !
Now you should listen to her covers of "Altitudes" by Jason Becker and "For the love of God" by Steve Vai, those are probably her most intense covers except for this Beethoven one.
All her covers are great, but her covers of For the Love of God by Steve Vai, and Altitudes by Jason Becker. You can check Tina out now with her band SpinTwice.
One quick comment - did you miss the last 2 seconds of her performance. Just after she finished, she did that sly grin which all reviewers always cut away from. I always get a chuckle out of that.
Last I heard she's off to university. I imagine she is a hit at the Greek parties. I love her Floyd. Technically perfect and I think the emotion is natural.
You're correct she IS a Savant. I've been here 81 years and I've never seen ANYONE blow the doors off this instrument quite like she does. She's playing all these notes from memory and its been stated that she did not miss a single one. She needs to make an album of all her covers. What an absolutely awesome player, huh? And btw she's still cute upon her recent return however she's now 25 and of course has changed a bit since these days. What I love about her is that she does not need to flaunt anything she lets her play do all the talking.
Tina S is pretty much the baddest of all badasses of all time. From a technical perspective, I don't know if you can get better than that. I think Buckethead might be approximately in the same league, but certainly no better. Look at the way she grips that guitar. She has it locked down tight. I think the guitar itself went to heaven right there.
Yeah, this piece was written for piano, and is not especially difficult to play on that instrument (though even there, the third movement is the most challenging portion). But covering it on guitar requires the use of more advanced techniques. On top of that, she compensates for some of the stuff the guitar just plain can't do (e.g,. playing different voices at different volumes simultaneously), by doing some stuff the piano can't do, like the vibrato you noticed, which calls attention to some parts and also adds interest to the piece. I have heard that she did not create the arrangement, but she certainly does a fine job of playing it. If she has time for this sort of thing again, I'm kind of hoping she'll do a few collabs with some other highly talented musicians. But solo guitar covers are certainly in her wheelhouse as well. Is anyone ever really safe?
I believe that was her last performance before she pulled a Houdini .. years and years there were stories that she did this, that, was dead etc. Like James says below, she came back recently. She ... does her own thing.
Well worth watching her play Steve Vai's For The Love of God, or maybe Herman Li reacting to her covering Dragonforce's Through the Fire and Flames. There are more including a Yngwie Malmsteen cover. Shortly after this she disappeared from TH-cam and only recently reappeared with chopped hair, tattoos etc. I suspect she went through a burnout.
love it when people say pro guitarist and they watch her play at 17 years old and are speechless lol... she dose not even spend hardly any time looking at the neck.. her precision and speed are on another level... wanna react to her dragon force fire and flames cover which she did at just 15 years old....
Her teacher Renaud LOUIS-SERVAIS 16/3/2022 interview on TH-cam : "Thank you for reacting to this video of my little protected Tina. I had the chance to teach her the electric guitar from the age of 13 to 18, and I also filmed and produced all these videos at that time in my studio. I must say that she never disappointed me, what a prodigy she was... a small precision concerning this version, it is an arrangement made by the incredible Italian guitarist, Michele "Dr Viossy" Vioni, who was kind enough to let us use his version." Renaud "I made her work on a lot of pieces, but only a part was the subject of videos. On the other hand, everything that has been filmed is online. (= 14)" Renaud told me that she learned this piece in 2 months during her school holidays in 2016.
Nobody casually slaughters Beethoven on guitar like Tina S. This piece is immortal and will live for a thousand years.
And she ll end up trashed in the bin of failures.
She’s the greatest guitarist in the world. No exceptions.
You don’t travel much , do you?

Look at the way she grips that guitar. She has it locked down tight. I think the guitar itself went to heaven right there.
Makes me think of the band Queen. She shredds it.😮😊
Tina S. has Been Amazing Us for Several Years... But she dipped out of her peak/Limelight, when she was like 19.... We ALL Miss Her.
What i mean, is I wish She Had more content..
She changed her micro setting 7 times during the song.
Tina is very skilled
You should do a reaction to her covers, through the fire and flames by DragonForce, and for the love of God by Steve Vai
melted my brain!
nice reaction.
Yooo.... Tee he he she's amazing!
Checkout her masterpiece covering Jason Becker’s Altitudes
She is a genius. Wow.
This kid has chops!!!!! Hats off to her!!! Nice tone also. Mr. Malmstine himself would be proud of her I think.Well done young one!!!!
The OG.
Incredible. 10/10.
All in one take... crazy!
Wow.
You have to react to his dragon force cover 😃
Yeah. I wondered when you would react to this impressive rendition.
Craziness ❤️
LOL that was awesome... classical music rocks! Always knew if these composers were alive today they would be metal
Wow!!!!
OK that is very impressive, my God.
I watched Tina’s videos for several years and then she just disappeared never to be heard of again. Breaks my heart.
Apparently she’s back.
I believe that was her last performance before she pulled a Houdini .. years and years there were stories that she did this, that, was dead etc. Like James says below, she came back recently. She ... does her own thing.
Interesting….my joke may have had a little truth to it. Although I’m sure she didn’t stop practicing. 😆
She is figuratively dead. This Tina no longer exists since 2016!
She is totally awesome
I must say that she never disappointed me, what a prodigy she was... a small precision concerning this version, it is an arrangement made by the incredible Italian guitarist, Michele "Dr Viossy" Vioni,
who was kind enough to let us use his version." Renaud
"I made her work on a lot of pieces, but only a part was the subject of videos. On the other hand, everything that has been filmed is online. (= 14)"
Renaud told me that she learned this piece in 2 months during her school holidays in 2016.
