That review made me feel like Nintendo legitimately pays Nintendo Life. If they don’t, Nintendo Life just makes misleading fluff reviews for awful switch ports for free and I don’t know what’s more sad. Outer Worlds on switch doesn’t even keep a locked 30 and looks worse than Morrowind or Oblivion because at least those games had art that was designed around low res textures and low polygon counts, rather than the developers just reducing texture resolution on high res assets and using distant LOD versions of assets for objects that you’re close to. Played this on the 360 fpr hours and got if on Switch for some nostalgia. Great port, only real issue is the pro controller's triggers not being analog so there's only no thtottle and full throttle, causing some issues with the more powerful cars that need to be accelerated gently to prevent uncontrolled drifiting, they should have tweaked that a little.
Playing Burnout Paradise after playing countless hours of Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge feels like meeting your high school best friend during adulthood after years. Their personality hasn't changed much, you still get to hang out and do fun things together, you still laugh at the same inside jokes, but they act noticably less like that crazy fun kid and more like an adult trying their best to fit in the society. It makes me nostalgic and sad at the same time, which is why this game has a special place in my heart although it's not even my favorite in the series.

Great review. None of my frequent outlets review switch ports like this, so I appreciate it. I do have a question, though: is the entire game on the cartridge or do I have to download most of it? This practice is so common with third party publishers, I’m wondering if I should even bother with a physical versions on the switch anymore. Thanks again!
Tad Ghostal That’s great! I wasn’t expecting that from EA at all, especially since this is a port of a remaster. I’m still gonna wait for a price drop, though. Can’t justify $50, especially now.

The reviewer is still assblasted over DigitalFoundry's review of The Outer World, not liking that DF pointed out the frame rate in TOW being extremely poor.
To be fair, they do point out that the frame rate matters specifically to this game due to the high speed. Also, "some people take this far to seriously" isn't the same as saying it doesn't matter at all, it's just pointing out it doesn't always matter as much as some people make it out to do.
I feel like a ton of your critiques of this game are the same ones that existed for the original Burnout Paradise and even its remasters (outside of the handheld quality drop). It doesn't feel fair to hold that against this game, just like it's not fair to hate on ORAS for having "too much water" despite that being in the game from the beginning and not mentioned previously.
I played when it originally launched and I got the remasterd on Xbox 1, the game is great but I'm gonna hold off since I've played through it a few times but I definitely recommend it to everyone
strange that it goes sub-720p in handheld mode. The old PS3 and 360 versions were always 720p and the remastered enhancements aren't that massive, mostly just textures, AO and lighting
I was able to get this game on sale through the Nintendo eShop for $15.00 and I feel like I'm getting way more than $15 worth of value out of it. I'd say don't spend more than like $25 or so but with so few racing games on Switch (aside from cartoony ones like the excellent Mario Kart 8) I'll take what I can get! Super fun nostalgia arcade racer!
If you want a fast racing game on Switch try RMX. It's a F-Zero clone but is INSANELY fast. And that's just on easy. I'm not saying that it's the best racing game on Switch (That goes to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) but it's by far the fastest racing game ever made.
I have the game and I am just not seeing the blurriness on handheld. Not like it was on Xenoblade, for example. Plus, Digital Foundry's analysis claims it runs at a consistent 720p on handheld. It's a solid port. But that price is too much. That I agree with. But if you do pick it up, you won't be disappointed. Portable is fine.
49.99 at vintage stock where I picked it up today. And the only other racing games offered are not worth it in my opinion so this should be the best if it's all switch offers
Okay, now that I’m looking at it, I can definitely see the resolution drop when I go pretty fast. Also, I wanted to say, I always used the cars that I earned, and not the ones that I got for free.
Just got this at walmart for $14.88 on sale. It showed $19 something in store but they will price match their online pricing as long as it's shipped and sold by Walmart. They have Wreckfest for $20 and some good games.
That's so shortsighted. To pretend they should just launch at a lower price due to a coincidental sale on some other platform? Admittedly its $10 higher than other versions released at, but that's all it is. $10. Expecting the same price as a version that's already sold at $40 for 2 years is... well, ignorant. And saying all you're getting is a "blurry handheld mode" is just insulting. I played at work today and its great in handheld mode.
Burnout Paradise is an awesome game but I'm not paying $50.00 for a game that should be priced at $19.99

I grew up with this game on the Xbox 360. I put hours into this game unlocking stuff. Now I can play it on the go!
Already have this game on my Xbox. I definitely wanted it for my switch. I sure didn't want to pay $50 so I waited. Found this game for 14.99 at Walmart About 3 weeks ago. Super fun game Worth every penny.
7:44 music?
i always get amazed when a remember that this game came out so long ago and it looks soooo good
My Main Problem with many switch games is the price. I dont understand why 10 year old, ported games cost as much as a Brand New Nintendo title.
$10 today. Yup buying!
he didnt touch on the one question i had. how does the car handle? is it responsive? does it brake when its supposed to, and turn when its supposed to? is the road width to car turning acceptable?
What I can't stand about this game is having to spend half my time driving all over the map to find the next event. Doesn't help that each event leaves you up in the mountains nowhere near ANY other event. I can't be the only one.
Had this game on the PS3 and would love to know how many hours I had in it.
Everything's on the cart yo
Tad Ghostal
That’s great! I wasn’t expecting that from EA at all, especially since this is a port of a remaster. I’m still gonna wait for a price drop, though. Can’t justify $50, especially now.
Omg you said it best
I keep picking up physical games but each one requires so much to download it's getting re
Ridiculous.i am almost just going to purchase all digital from now on
If you like Burnout Paradise on switch pick up Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. Already put in about 50 hours. It's definitely an awesome game as well.
Great review I feel this game will be one of those on sale games in the future and if it goes like half price I’d get it.
i never have a problem with handheld, but i crash way to much in handheld and it takes so long with the slo-mo to get back to the racing
29$ on Amazon and big w for switch which is rlly cheap in Australia
Too expensive for a game that many of us have played multiple times. Even with all the DLC.
- Says people take framerate too seriously
- Immediately goes on to say that it being 60fps is essential due to the nature of the game
....???
That’s contradicting for you.
Holy crap!!!! $50???? It’s 12 years old!
That cow
It's on offer for £8.## at the moment on the eShop, thank you for the honest review
Funny enough I came here for the same reason! Was debating on it for quick pick up and play on commutes etc!
Just bought for £4.99 on the Nintendo store. Great value.
I'd read that it was 1080p but this video looks considerably lower than this. Has anyone actually tested the resolution?
strange that it goes sub-720p in handheld mode. The old PS3 and 360 versions were always 720p and the remastered enhancements aren't that massive, mostly just textures, AO and lighting
All 8 DLC is included, does that help the price at all?
50 quid is a total rip off for a game that old
I was able to get this game on sale through the Nintendo eShop for $15.00 and I feel like I'm getting way more than $15 worth of value out of it.
I'd say don't spend more than like $25 or so but with so few racing games on Switch (aside from cartoony ones like the excellent Mario Kart 8) I'll take what I can get!
Super fun nostalgia arcade racer!
Need for speed hot pursuit remastered is great. I really like that one on Switch too.
OK, so, is the footage shown here handheld or docked? Because I shudder to think what "really blurry" visuals look like if it isn't this.
Fast motion + motion blur and other post processing + youtube compression really ruins the image quality. It will look much better in person.
@@detritiv0re144 I hope so. I tend to turn off motion blur and I really hope there's an option to do that on this game.
Have it on Xbox one. Bought a switch lite for work and picked up remastered on sale. Definitely worth it as it kills time at my job
It’s 15 euro at the moment on the Eshop. Very tempting.
Getting it anyways. Don’t care if it’s overpriced I love this game
It's actually $42 here in the US.
I'll be picking it up.
$64 in Canada. What a joke.
49.99 at vintage stock where I picked it up today. And the only other racing games offered are not worth it in my opinion so this should be the best if it's all switch offers
why is it soooooo dark??
The review sounded more like an 8 than a 7 imo. Still, agree that this is much more worth it on sale
Hmm... Should I get this on switch for the portability or is it worth losing that for the much better graphics on PS4?
Does it allow for split screen multiplayer?
Okay, now that I’m looking at it, I can definitely see the resolution drop when I go pretty fast. Also, I wanted to say, I always used the cars that I earned, and not the ones that I got for free.
Curious does this game support analog triggers?
I paid £5 today for this on switch, absolute bargain 👌
Need the OLED screen for the night time races
Is this going to screw up achievements if you own it on other versions?
Man, I never even noticed that the resolution decreased as you went faster, untilll I watched this video. Thank goodness I only got it for $20
Burnout really never needed a story... basically, crash into anything that isn't solid or oncoming or BIGGER than you.
Is it online only? Because when im in a car i wanna take my switch and play the game
You can play offline
Just got this at walmart for $14.88 on sale. It showed $19 something in store but they will price match their online pricing as long as it's shipped and sold by Walmart. They have Wreckfest for $20 and some good games.
To anyone thinking about buying this do it. It’s just like playing on the ps2 when I was young again.
Port of Star Wars: Racer is coming in 3 days. It's a good week for fans of overpriced yet still cool old racing games
Soo if I get this right
It's better in docked mode ?🙃🤔
So...was there a disc brake update in bikes ?
Do analogue triggers work?
1:18
Yeah that's not true at all. What about he entire midnight club series? How can you forget that
100 percent recommend this version butter smooth looks honestly Mind blowing at times knowing the switch hardware I m enjoying it
4:57 My brain: "Drift, dammit".
honestly been having an absolute blast with it!
$64 Canadian for a game originally released in 2008 is tantamount to a slap in the face.
