      Awesome start.
If you're curious to play the 2d ones, you can play them in order with the remakes:
      1 Metroid Zero Mission GBA
      2 Metroid Samus Returns 3DS
3 Super Metroid SNES (if they announce a remake im having a heart attack)
      4 Metroid Fusion GBA
      5 Metroid Dread Switch
With some luck they gonna put Zero Mission on the switch online soon but you know, emulators are easily available vor any device you have.
Also theres no problem with starting from whats more easily available to you. Metroid games are amazing in any order.
Also if you cant get a 3ds or emulator to play samus returns i would suggest the fan remake AM2R which was released for any platform since it was open souce and i dare day it's almost as good as the 3ds oficial remake.

The way david brevic put it, diablo 2 remastered was such a challenge it should exist,
      The source code was lost.
The pc screens of the time made the grid system impossible to update without feeling off..also without the code it's a no no.
People still bought diablo 2 so blizzard were happy.
But they made a overlay and found a way to make it work.
Diablo 2 is the best remaster of all time imo because of how good it is and how much changed but still feels faithful.
But what I will say is prime is the most no brainer remaster around, it's only really been toped in it's culmination of shooting, platforming and secrets by the new doom games who heavily drew from metroid prime.
But it makes prime 4 a challenge as they will not release anything but a better game than doom, because the creator is a visionary and by not rushing you get games that last 20 plus years.

I can't believe the Switch is running this. At times it flat out looks like a current-gen game, all while running at a locked 60fps and 900p with anti-aliasing. This is hands down the best looking and most technically accomplished Nintendo game thus far, I expected to see this type of stuff on the Switch 2, not the current one.

Eh, I'm an older fan of the Prime series and I won't be playing the remaster. I'm a stickler for audio details, and the updated scan visor lines will never not irritate me. One of the most incredible aspects of Prime was that it flawlessly conveyed its entire story without the use of any spoken dialogue. The scanner saying "ADDED TO LOGBOOK" every time you scan a new creature is jarring beyond words for me.

I played Prime for the first time back in August of last year and there were a few points where I just missed a door right by me bc the grey centers tended to blend into the surrounding wall/thought the glow was part of my visor. Plus it matches closer to the doors in Prime 2.

Can you stand on frozen enemies without sliding off like in the 1986 game?
Do you still need a late game ability for most of the 12 chozo artifacts?
Did they make bomb jumping any easier?
Is there still constant beeping sfx while near death?
Do enemies keep dropping items which you already have a full stock of?

I am so pleased to see this game be re-released as a proper remaster. I was 19 in my first year of college and the GameCube version of this was so fun, new and easy to play. I have always loved all the Metroid games but have always felt they were treated less favorably than their Nintendo peers. I have never really understood why they performed lesser than other Nintendo franchises. I was so thrilled with the release of Dread and happy to see it sold pretty well. I think Metroid has really come a long way and has continued to grow its audience with things like this remaster. Please buy this game (digital or physical) and keep telling Nintendo we want Metroid here and to stay!!! Bring on Prime 4!

Speaking of the ball, you can now bounce it without a bomb, as you could in Corruption (by flicking wiimote). So the triple jump now needs less skill.

I still have the Gamecube versions of the first two and the Wii Trilogy and working GC, Wii and WiiU to run them. Also played on emulation quite recently on Steam Deck. However for some reason I have never got close to completing any of them. On each replay I always enjoy the first few hours, then somehow interest fizzles out. No idea why, but I think the backtracking is part of it, or maybe that having lost old saves I always end up playing through the same sections so it's got old now. Anyway Metroid Prime is sitting high and proud on my plie of shame for 20 years now. Maybe a new lick of paint will get me through this time - I am duty bound to add this to my collection after all, whether I finish t or not - it's not even an option!

Otherwise, all other issues are negligible. Fantastic remaster. Also you're right about the scanner range increase, and it doesn't cancel anymore when the enemy goes out of sight.
Stupendous visuals as well. I'm regularly noticing the care that was put into the assets. Loving this version so far.

About the doors, I understand why they changed them. First of all, they’re easier to see from a distance. But also, it actually resembles the doors from the 2D Metroid games more. In those games you have to shoot a blue or red barrier that covers the entire door, not just the edges.

And as somebody who actually started on prime 2:echoes, followed by 3 as a child, it again feels like a perfect 'introduction' to the prime series in current times and Im glad they behave as If they plan on supporting the switch for many years following compared to the 'young age' some older generations of consoles brought to the table from other companies.

That was an easter-egg referencing Metroid Dread, which was little more than a myth back then. Does it say the same thing in this version? I think it'd be pretty cool if it said something like, "project Dread is complete."

Problem I have with the remake so far is that I prefer playing Trilogy style with the motion controls on pointer mode, and I am left handed; meaning not only do i need to hold the joycons in opposite hands for optimal aiming, with no left handed option, the gyro just isnt as good as the Wii IR, especially at long ranges. The lock on feature feels delayed...in fact there seems to be a delay on shooting too, and because of the lock on delay specifically, even the Hive Mecca is a bit of a challenge. I never thought I'd see the day where I miss a Wii feature.

As I've been playing with it, I'll have to disagree with complaints about the pointer control scheme. It's no slower than other control schemes, and it's way better than the Wii. I figure you're not acting like Wii controls were perfect, but I played Trilogy on Wii, and the remote would frequently lose track of the sensor bar after turning the camera. With the pointer controls, all you have to do is enter the map, point your joycon at your preferred center, and unpause to recalibrate.
