Check out the best games coming this week to Switch - th-cam.com/video/1aXOV51iHJg/w-d-xo.html Hi SwitchUp Family, welcome back for my review of Need For Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered on Nintendo Switch. My pun game was strong for this one lol....I am so sorry! Mark
You did not mention about the controls that you can completely remap all of them, including switching the right analog switch as UP for acceleration, and DOWN for braking. I also switch the camera look around to the d-pad, e-brake to ZL, and nitrous to ZR. All the weapons can be mapped to the XYBA buttons. In terms of the switches control limitations, I give Hot Pursuit 20/20 for the work around. Makes the racing even more enjoyable. Try it you might like it.
Does it have a normal "Time Attack" or "Arcade" mode??? (I don't care about crashing other cars or any of that, I'm only interested in pure Street racing) Thanks in advance. 😉👍
The tracks, the soundtrack (Uncle Kracker’s “I Keep it Coming” was the standout), the jumps, the police panicking as you continue to evade them. Man, as many awesome games that I had for the PlayStation 2, NFS:HP2 was one of my top five...I think until Burnout: Revenge was released.
Nice review, the graphics look beautiful and glad to hear it’s running at a constant 30fps. It’s on sale for $7.99 right now so we’ll worth picking up!
I bought it already yesterday. Have to agree tho. It is realy a fun game so far. I would love underground 2 and the original Most wanted to come to switch.
In that case can you confirm wether the game has splitscreen or not? Also seriously considering picking it up, but wether or not it has splitscreen may push me over the edge or wait to see if it`ll go on sale during black friday or christmas
I bought it yesterday too. I’m probably late but I only just found out this week that they remastered this game. Really was determined to try it out for the first time since I didn’t have the system to play the original.
this is one of the better Need for Speed games, but I'd rather have Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (PS2 version), where you had to physically stop cars as a police unit, rather than the more arcade damage meter. The physics and tracks were more dynamic too, while this one has that criterion feel, with a lot of straightaways and simplified physics.
@@leecroft1983 FYI Hot Pursuit 2 on Xbox/GC/PC were essentially different games from the PS2 one. The PS2 game was made by Black Box who would go on to do Underground, Most Wanted, Carbon, etc. It's considered to have more appealing visuals and better gameplay overall.
The only tiny issue I have with this game is that if you need to pause the game you better do it on a straight road. Once you unpause the game it takes a good second or two to get control of the car again. I don’t know if it’s just me or if it does it with all copies of the game. Really just a minor inconvenience lol Great review btw!!
I was trying to hold off getting this until it went on sale. I gave in and just bought this from the EShop, it's a rainy day in London so that's me sorted for the day. I would love to see more NFS remastered games on the Switch going forward. Great review as always guy's! I think 70% of my switch collection is based off your reviews, Keep up the great work.
@@SwitchUpYt Thanks Mark. :) I love it so far. I haven't played any of the current generation NFS games until this remaster. I'm honestly loving this no filler no BS just good honest racing.
Wow... EA did something... Good? I love your reviews I like that you all aren't easy on or sugarcoat things just because it's on Switch. Im glad you all make sure to hold things to just as high of a standard as any other console or even PC. We have seen plenty of quality games on Switch so no reason other studios can't do the same.
Hol up, not really. They made physical, that is not actually fully physical. You cannot play until downloading a 1-2gb download as far as I am concerned. So technically you don't own the game physically even having it.
EA does really good when aiming for the middle shelf. It's when they have some big aspiring project that they begin to suck. Unless it's sports. Then they always suck. Unfortunately, EA will always try to aim for the top shelf.
I say this is the best Need for Speed game that brings it back to its true roots, being about racing fast cars hence the name. Although it can't be denied that the underground racing is what a lot of people grew up with playing need for speed.

The game I had the most fun with on 360 and definitely in my top 10 racers. Hot Pursuit is like if Burnout and Chase HQ had a baby, which was exactly what I wanted. If that sounds like your bag, definitely give this game some time.
I’d *love* to see remasters if games like Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon, and ProStreet, but the biggest problem with those is licensing issues. Not only are the original developers (Black Box) long gone by this point, but it also certainly doesn’t help that car companies are being a lot more strict these days either. The SLR’s were removed from Hot Pursuit Remastered, so you can say goodbye to them in any other past game as well, and Toyota, hoo boy, Toyota is just smoking crack. They say their reasoning fo backing out entirely from the Need For Speed franchise is because they “don’t support illegal street racing”, and yet here they are putting their GR Supra in the Fast & Furious movies and a terrible tie-in game, Backroads, as a DLC no less. So yeah, pretty shitty thing of them to say. But regardless of the reasoning, you can say bye bye to the Supra, Celica, MR2, GT86, and AE86’s too, so that’s *definitely* not gonna happen. So the best we can do is to focus on mods for Most Wanted, as that’s the game with the most stuff going for it, although there *is* a few stuff going for Underground 1, 2, Carbon, and even ProStreet and Undercover to smaller extents as well. Pretty much little to nothing for Hot Pursuit 2010 though, and it’s understandable why since it has so little you can actually do to add anything substantial to it. I mean, I guess you can make some car mods, but that’s a useless thing to do if you can’t even have them as separate add-on’s and even if you can, good luck trying to play with those online from official servers, because even if they allow it, (which I doubt) it could still be a problem since other modded cars are not in other people’s coding, unless you somehow code it to show the cars how they look like proper in real time, which is absurdly unlikely, especially for a game like this. It’s not even possible with games like Most Wanted and Carbon yet, so this shouldn’t even be a *consideration* at this point. So yeah, your best bet is mods, because I really don’t think EA will put in anywhere *near* the amount needed to properly release those games in their states with the original content. Hot Pursuit 2010 is actually extremely lucky that it never came with any Toyota cars prior, because if it did, then I highly doubt that people will be nearly as forgiving when removing a goddamn Supra. The SLR is a big enough problem already, considering that both Mercedes and McLaren cars are still in the game. And to top it off, the Carbon Motors E7 Concept was *also* removed, and for seemingly no reason, even though other concept cars still remain. My advice is to only get this game if you are actively looking to have a decent racing game on the Nintendo Switch, and one that’s compatible with online. I still recommend Burnout Paradise a whole lot more, but if you *need* to have another game that isn’t that, Mario Kart 8, Crash Team Racing, or even Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2, then yeah I guess you can pick it up. I also suggest waiting for a sale though since it’s more expensive than the superior Burnout Paradise. Last time I checked, it went on sale for like 28 bucks, which I think is a better price, even if it should still be significantly lower in my honest opinion, (Like, 25 average and 15-20 on sale) but I suppose it could’ve been a whole lot worse too, given that this is EA we are talking about. Overall, it’s a fine game, and dare I say that it’s the last game from the “golden years”, which to me ironically started with Hot Pursuit 2, but it’s nothing to write home about either. It’s pretty generic by today’s standards all things considered, and even back when it was released it still was pretty tame, with the only thing going for it at the time being “New cars, and some very few classic ones too”. But if you know what you’re getting into, and as long as you don’t set your expectations too high, then I say it’s worth playing at least once, especially if you never had the game beforehand. It can be pretty decent fun, and the online connections is surprisingly pretty good. For a game that was released back in 2010, most of the visuals still hold up pretty well too. Arguably I can even say that for ProStreet, but Hot Pursuit 2010 definitely looks to be the sharpest from that era.
The issue with this game is the AI recovering way way way too quick from a crash or takedown. Besides, the AI never gets busted like in NFS on PS2. The opponents seems to be always on your tale and so are the cops. It makes the game liniar, because in the end, your skills don't really matter. Winning is primarily only luck based. I don't understand why they didn't take over the AI from previous games. They didn't improve it, they made it worse.
Quite often EA deserves all the flack they get, but I think this would not be one of those times. I never played the original, although I did Most Wanted U on the Wii U and loved it, so to me this looks a must buy. thanks for your review, the depth you go into doesn't go unnoticed. Thanks guys!
I'm thinking of getting this for my Switch Lite, it's 50% off on eShop right now but I prefer getting a physical copy especially when it takes up way less data storage.
Buy sniper elite 4 with all the dlc for $50. There is gameplay footage out and it looks better then sniper elite 3. Appears to be 60fps or very close docked.
I wouldn't mind remasters of everything up to Carbon. Don't personally care for anything after that. Pro Street was alright but didn't feel like Need for Speed. Also I'd love a remaster of Midnight Club 3 Dub edition
Cinema by Benny Benassi is my FAVORITE racer song. It was in the original Forza Horizon as well. Sad to see it cut from this one. Will definitely pick up when on sale.
I'm gonna hold on for a while. One thing I've noticed across many switch games is that even though the games suck at launch, the patch updates do a wondrous job in fixing the game. . Also, I got no job rn because of this stupid pandemic, so gotta keep food as my first priority 😅
I was already going to buy this game, because there's almost no racing games w/ real cars at all except this and GRID: Autosport (Gearclub doesn't count, it's a ""game""), but it's nice to make sure the version's good.
I almost never buy a Nintendo game anymore before your review. You are the most trustworthy reviewers within this domain. Much love from Jordan (Middle-Eastern country) Normal Comment: I promise that I am not going to blow up your channel... Unless... You do not giveaway a game to me... 🙄 It is my birthday today, so... 🤷🏻♂️ Seriously, however, keep up the brilliant work! Now, about that giveaway? I just saw Best Buy has the physical copy on sale for $20, so I came here to see if it's worth picking up at that price. I think it's safe to say that it absolutely is.
I'd personally find it kinda cool if EA would make a remake of the very first NFS, as long as they'd sell it at an appropriate price. The more basic premise should mean jaw-dropping visuals even on Switch.
It’s been a while since I played a Need for Speed game. I remember spending hours playing Underground 2 and not doing homework. I wish they would remake or reboot the NFS Underground.
I got it on PC last week, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it reliving the 19-year old me when I played it back in the day! I owned the Limited Edition of the Original. Main reason I got it was for the DLCs, as the PC version on the original never got them.
Thanks for making this. I remember playing the original 2010 one, I was considering buying on pc, but I want to bring this version around wherever I go.
Spot on review! Had to get this on release day. Doesn't matter if it's a 10 year old game. A classic is a classic, and the ability to play this handheld is a bonus. Same with Burnout Paradise - top arcade fun!
👍🏾 for the review, but honestly I’m holding out hoping that R* will release a Midnight Club version for the Switch. NFS was alright at the time, but when MC3 Dub Edition came out, I never looked back.
I'm playing this on my PS3. I remember back in 2010 I felt that this game was let down. After such a great Need for Speed prior this on (Underground, Underground 2, Most Wanted). After what these games offered Hot Pursuit was really felt like downgrade. No open world, no customisation. But right now I'm enjoying this game. This is really old fasion Need for Speed game with luxury cars and fun racing. Still I think as Hot Pursuit this game still isn't as good as Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 (2002 PS2). That one a gem.
I think the only racing series on Switch which allow customizations and upgrades would be the Gear.Club Unlimited series. They’re not GREAT, but I have the original two and the recent Tracks release and they’re pretty good.
Ahhh man....gaming is crushing me! I just spent a ton on PS5 & some games and now I think I'm gonna pick this up on my Switch. Not too many racing games currently on Switch, so happy to see they did a good job on this remaster.
Never got around to playing this on its original release so just picked it up for a quick blast. Only 6 quid or so in the sale, can’t argue with that price
I remember playing this on the 360 about 80 years ago. Not bad but I remember the handling being really heavy, not really to my Ridge Racer loving taste. I imagine it's still the same? This looks graphically pretty much the same, right?
Totally missed this when it released. Now it showed up at the bargain sections at 50% off. Checked the review and it looks totally worth it. I really loved the WiiU Need for Speed: Most Wanted U game and this looks like a perfect Switch substitute. I’m off to the shops! See yeah!
I just bought this game yesterday for the Switch, love it! I still have it for the PS3 and it still looks nice and fun in 2020! This is a fun racing game to have on the go! 👍
Decided to check out this review after seeing it on your recent sale video (2/14/22). It's only $10, and I feel like it will scratch that itch that Burnout gave me back in the PS2 days. For the record, I did not like the open world format of Burnout paradise, if anyone is wanting to suggest that game.
Might order this. I found it for €35.99 with free shipping and I have a coupon leftover, so I can slash 2.50 off of it, I think that's a great value proposition. Crazy to think you can get games physical for cheaper than getting something intangible off the eShop.
The thing about need for speed , it has always been about hot pursuits the real OG’s know that. This game was just a perfect way to represent that. Those wishing for those older games to be remastered like the underground series, it wont happen. It’s impossible and will be stupid expensive to buy the license for those games.
Total necropost here, but this one has been on a steep sale lately and it's a fantastic pickup and play game! 80% off! It has easily replaced GRID for my Switch racer. Amazing channel, all the best to you G & M Also I hear that Ghostrunner OST, absolute jammer!
One of my favourite of the franchise. Can't wait to download this on my One X (later, when i can actually find one, Series X) and Switch. Finally some good racers appearing on the Switch, can't wait to play a full, non watered down Need For Speed on the go.
thanks for the great and thorough review. i was curious if i should fork out for this classic. Also curious how you’re getting a screen record setup for nintendo switch. would love some tips on that.

I'm thinking of getting this for my Switch Lite, it's 50% off on eShop right now but I prefer getting a physical copy especially when it takes up way less data storage.
This totally flew under my radar what the hell
I want this game but I’m gonna wait to hear how sniper 4 reviews and buy one of the two.
Buy sniper elite 4 with all the dlc for $50. There is gameplay footage out and it looks better then sniper elite 3. Appears to be 60fps or very close docked.
@Star Scream and get nfs when on sale
You should get the one with motion aiming. ;)
@@2Guapo it does look pretty good. I leaned towards this myself.
Thanks, I went with sniper elite 4
I wouldn't mind remasters of everything up to Carbon. Don't personally care for anything after that. Pro Street was alright but didn't feel like Need for Speed.
Also I'd love a remaster of Midnight Club 3 Dub edition
Nice review! Between this and Burnout Paradise Remastered, if I can only buy one which would you recommend? Keep up the awesome work!
Which one dis you went with. Personally i think Hot Persuit is the better game hands down
Cinema by Benny Benassi is my FAVORITE racer song. It was in the original Forza Horizon as well. Sad to see it cut from this one. Will definitely pick up when on sale.
Hey Jack, good news they didn't end up cutting any songs I'll be removing that. Mark
Nice review as always.
Great video and good review.
Cause of you, im buying this one today:)
I'll see you online goodsir
I’m so glad I bought this game when it was on sale and it only cost 8 dollars
I'm gonna hold on for a while. One thing I've noticed across many switch games is that even though the games suck at launch, the patch updates do a wondrous job in fixing the game.
.
Also, I got no job rn because of this stupid pandemic, so gotta keep food as my first priority 😅
Me too bruh, got retrenched. Good luck in finding a job bruh 👍
@@slickperspective thanks, man. I needed that 🙂
I was already going to buy this game, because there's almost no racing games w/ real cars at all except this and GRID: Autosport (Gearclub doesn't count, it's a ""game""), but it's nice to make sure the version's good.
We need more good racing games on switch
@@UKEDNHAT7 We need more racing games in general
I almost never buy a Nintendo game anymore before your review. You are the most trustworthy reviewers within this domain. Much love from Jordan (Middle-Eastern country)
Normal Comment: I promise that I am not going to blow up your channel... Unless... You do not giveaway a game to me... 🙄 It is my birthday today, so... 🤷🏻♂️ Seriously, however, keep up the brilliant work! Now, about that giveaway? Are you willing to risk having your channel blown up for a game? 👀 I am a peaceful man. It will blow up... In views! 😇❤
I hope everyone notices the satire. 😅🙏🏻
Lol
Only getting mine now, thanks to your precise analysis. And I subscribed 😁
I would definitely buy this if they include a Performance Mode
I just saw Best Buy has the physical copy on sale for $20, so I came here to see if it's worth picking up at that price. I think it's safe to say that it absolutely is.
Damn this video is amazing honestly, you deserve a lot more views and subs,
Cheers mate, really appreciate that! Mark
On sale right now for $7.99
3:12 Actually there are LOTS of flashing lights! Another great review guys.
Loved it on 360, cant wait to play it in handheld mode on Switch!
I'd personally find it kinda cool if EA would make a remake of the very first NFS, as long as they'd sell it at an appropriate price. The more basic premise should mean jaw-dropping visuals even on Switch.
"No flashing lights" except from the cops
It’s been a while since I played a Need for Speed game. I remember spending hours playing Underground 2 and not doing homework.
I wish they would remake or reboot the NFS Underground.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Black Box, the developers of those games, shut down in 2011.
2015 is literally that.
I want a thermo vision rearview mirror. Looks sweet.
Yeah IKR!?
Thanks for the review!
Amazing video and format guys, thank you very much! ^^
I feel like this was the last NFS with a fantastic soundtrack 😍 All The Same by Does it Offend you yeah? Makes me super happy
Ok so this game from NFS did very well I can admit that.......NOW!!! let's see the next NFS for next year I hope it brings good intentions
I been wanting to get this one again. Also it seems like if EA keeps working backwards to older games they'll eventually get to Underground.
On sale atm for a fiver.
@@og87 I got it physically not long after my original comment. So I'm good. Thanks though!
Spot on review! Had to get this on release day. Doesn't matter if it's a 10 year old game. A classic is a classic, and the ability to play this handheld is a bonus. Same with Burnout Paradise - top arcade fun!
Picked it up for $20 at Walmart here in the U.S😜
I'd love a remaster of hot pursuit 2. It was on gamecube so wouldn't think getting on would be too hard.
👍🏾 for the review, but honestly I’m holding out hoping that R* will release a Midnight Club version for the Switch.
NFS was alright at the time, but when MC3 Dub Edition came out, I never looked back.
Great review! Thanks for that.
I love this game but i do agree i wish it had car customization. The same with Grid. I so badly want a good racing game with customization on Switch.
I think the only racing series on Switch which allow customizations and upgrades would be the Gear.Club Unlimited series. They’re not GREAT, but I have the original two and the recent Tracks release and they’re pretty good.
I've heard that they will add wrap editors in future updates though.
Ahhh man....gaming is crushing me! I just spent a ton on PS5 & some games and now I think I'm gonna pick this up on my Switch. Not too many racing games currently on Switch, so happy to see they did a good job on this remaster.
Well this was a surprise, looks brilliant so I will be adding to my watchlist, cheers for the review!
I'm glad I can now play this where ever I go
I miss Hot Pursuit 2 with the McLaren F1 Need For Speed Edition being my favorite!
my first racing game in PC a loooong time ago. Never played the 2010 remake, I could look at the remaster. Great review!
Great review! I am downloading now based off this review! Thank you!
Let me know how you get on! Mark
you always drive with lights on, still theres a "light switched on" thingy going on when entering tunnels... thats so bad.
Does the physical release require a download or is it all on the cart?
50% off on the eshop rn until jan4th
I love this game, but really have trouble with the steering. Any tips? Do I just need to play more?
Lol
I picked this up on sale, and I'm really enjoying it!
How is the graphics compared to the Ps3? Im curious !
@@aurx14 to be honest, i don't see much difference between the PS3 and the Switch, it's definitely a fun racing game to have in ur Switch collection!
@@dennismolina9033 thanks for the reply! I ve been on cross roads if I should get it but I think im gonna go and order it later! Thank u!
@@aurx14 of course! Ur very welcome! 😀🎮 🚔 🚨
The entire game is on Game Card right? I read that only the multiplayer is what you have to download.
I'm Thinking About Buying It and I Need To Move to the UK because The Games in The UK are so much cheaper then here in Australia
I just bought mine last night. Good graphics for Nintendo.
Surprised with the price! Very tempted in getting this one! Great review Mark!
Thanks mate appreciate it
It’s 11€ now in eshop, just bought it and turned off all useless visual effects except motion blur it looks sharper and imho more than 30fps.
Dope!
Love this game been waiting for this switch version!
Bought it. Worth it!
I’m certainly looking forward to sinking my teeth into this game tomorrow.
I’m disappointed that’s there’s no split screen. I loved playing this game with split screen on the old version, guess I won’t be upgrading.
Do you know if they removed split-screen from the PS4/ONE versions?
How do you turn off instant replay in need for speed hot pursuit remastered on the switch? It get's in the way.
The thing about need for speed , it has always been about hot pursuits the real OG’s know that. This game was just a perfect way to represent that. Those wishing for those older games to be remastered like the underground series, it wont happen. It’s impossible and will be stupid expensive to buy the license for those games.
Wow, this looks really nice for the switch! Great port 😀
Total necropost here, but this one has been on a steep sale lately and it's a fantastic pickup and play game! 80% off! It has easily replaced GRID for my Switch racer.
Amazing channel, all the best to you G & M
Also I hear that Ghostrunner OST, absolute jammer!
NFS Underground 2 and NFS Most Wanted those 2 are the best in the NFS Series for me
One of my favourite of the franchise. Can't wait to download this on my One X (later, when i can actually find one, Series X) and Switch. Finally some good racers appearing on the Switch, can't wait to play a full, non watered down Need For Speed on the go.
Most Wanted Remake would be an instant buy for me.
I love this game so much I bought it twice, on the switch and my series x!
thanks for the great and thorough review. i was curious if i should fork out for this classic.
Also curious how you’re getting a screen record setup for nintendo switch. would love some tips on that.
