My experience was that some things, like the beans, could come up against powdery mildew if the sun exposure is not right, and you don't have some type of low fan or good air circulation. Another tip is when growing indoors, water from the bottom not the top, to avoid fungus growth and fungus gnats.

I put radish ends in the dirt from the grocery store and they regrew themselves into a big plant and grew seed pods that you can eat when fresh or let them dry and remove the seeds.

I love growing microdwarf tomatoes indoors! Cherry falls, Jochalos, Chibikko, rosy finch, Pinocchio. Yellow dwarf.. great taste! Start them late July and you will have tomatoes by Thanksgiving.

I don't know if it will burn my plants up or what will happen. But I have to figure this out but I really need to grow some of my own vegetables. Cause I eat lots of fresh vegetables every single day. I don't eat processed foods or anything anymore. I just eat fresh veggies and it gets quite expensive. I do eat some meat here and there, but not a lot so. Fresh veggies are where I get all my nutrients from.
Whatever you want to grow. Research for the variety of that plant that is heat and drought tolerant and does well in full sun. And grow those on your balcony. Thanks

I’ve got Winter cabbages under lights in my dining room , but I’ve also got some on the windowsill in my living room and both are thriving at much the same rate.
Wow, you’ve had a lot of success growing a lot without grow lights. I have energy efficient windows that block most UV so I can’t get much to grow in my home without grow lights. But I grow a ton with grow lights.

It depends on how you are using it. With raised beds. You can fill them to where the act like a big container or you can fill it out n such a way that the roots of many plants will reach to and through the ground where as the raised be is basically being used for its height.

My south-facing sliding door I spray-painted frost for privacy but a lot of sun shines through. Does anyone happen to know if that is a problem likedthe energey efficient window? I really don't think so but if anyone would like to comment that would be great.

I like to stick the ends of the vegetables that I buy from the store in dirt most of them end up growing leaves and flowers and reseeding themselves

I'm pretty sure that won't work in Canada as we get about 6 - 7 hours of sunlight in the middle of winter.
How about grow lights? They come in many options and seem to be more affordable than years ago.
