@Jeff Watson It's really rude to compare an old and failing guitarist to a robot. Especially when the robot is famous for inventing playing styles and the failing human hasn't done anything new in, as you say, 40 yrs...My bad! Nothing new in much longer.
Yes he would! Even Hendrix, especially! Similar styles. Total control, and taking it "out there", like Jimi, super creative perfectionists! Jimi was more bluesy, as he grew up around it, when younger with The Isley Brothers(?), etc. But Buckethead gets it! Very classy, clean, like Jerry Garcia, but putting his personal stamp on it with great effects, toggle "red" button used great, between 4:30-5 minute mark. Very classy, bluesy, and still Buckethead! The greats would/do love him!
@@hectorgonzalez9170 Yes! Check out young, 9 year old blues, best I've heard, and unreal guitar player Taj Farrant! "Tennessee Whiskey"! Pure genius, King of heart and soul!
@@timturk1899 dont ever compare jerry garcia to buckethead or any descent guitar player. Garcia is a joke hed forget half his shitty songs and play the wrong thing all the time thats what hes known for
Yeah...I don't think he want's it. He was in Guns 'n' frickin' Roses! I don't listen to pop, so I never heard it, but that's pretty big. Slick, Skunk, whatever, he's worth 90 million dollars. BH is worth maybe 8. Not even one tenth.
Not much bucket head can't play any style type of music this guy is a freak of nature the goat he doesn't get the recognition he deserves and one of nicest guy in music especially for someone with that kinda talent
Slash was probably not happy this guy took his spot for a bit and looked like him unintended he has wore the mask and big hair forever Buckethead is on another level like Peter Green was
I was just reintroduced to his music by my son who has been a fan forever. I sort of fell out of liking him when his music become a little too electronic for me. This blows my mind. This man puts so much damned emotion into his music. One of his songs can reduce me to tears in a matter of moments. I love this man! I think he is one of the best players in the world!
I thought bucketheads early stuff was electronic. Maybe I’m wrong ‘Bermuda Triangle’ was after I got into his his music. Before that ‘cobra strike’ sounds like arcade video games astroid, centipede, I forget what song (it’s not metal riff) But happy arcade music turns nightmare (even though it never changes dark, stays happy entire song) The nightmare comes from insane tapping sounds like centipede’s crawling down from ceiling, walls infested everywhere non stop. When it hit me (in the way buckethead intended it to sound) It was sick genius. Its on cobrastrike 2?? Although it has some electronic arcade stuff (the beats) buckethead plays what people call ‘mindless shred’. This is probably from (free style jazz improvisation= noise) bucketheads influence with Derick Bailey’guitarist. Incredible noise. Sounds like kid who crayons the entire house. It doesn’t make sense, they call it freestyle jazz improvisation. Both Pat metheny and buckethead names are mentioned on derick baily page I seen somewhere. Pat metheny is longtime fan of buckethead (google it its easy find) There was video of Pat metheny speaking in front huge collage campus. Very smart clear intellectual. Pat told his audience said,” I hear music when someone kicks over a row of garbage cans down a flight of stairs’. the first time He heard miles Davis music felt like he’d been hit with baseball bat.
wow,can you imagine, your having a wedding party, and someone asks who they get for entertainment,oh some guy called Buckethead, they would be picking up pieces of the roof for days...just awesome!!!
Buckethead opens up a show at a wedding party with "The Thrill is Gone"... does anyone else see the comical irony in this? Also, I think if any kind of irony was intended, as in the thrill of the honeymoon phase wearing off, then the message might be like you can still rock out even after the thrill is gone: this song and performance are testament to that through their shear superb badassness.
***** dumb ass. He was in guns n roses n quit. He doesn't like the lime light hence his image and privateness. He actually is one of the most gifted guitarists to ever live.
Man I bet that sounded amazing in person! It's great to hear Bucket playing an old blues classic, too. One of my favorite tracks of all time, actually, given all the great renditions out there. Too bad it was just a little hot here. Thanks for sharing.
Playing as a shredder and with soulful feelings, I’m starting to understand the phenomenal that is bucket head , i thought he was like his mentor paul Gilbert just another shredder with empty notes, fooled me, he is a legend
That's how you feel about PG?? 🤔 Damn dude I know he ain't the most soulful dude out there but lifeless and dead sterile technique only?? Naw, bruh there are a trillion better examples one can cite to fit that designation before ever even considering PG for inclusion on the list..
I've watched this so many times because it never grows old. Even though the initial sound is iffy from reverb, it's still a great cover, and worthy of adoration. Like it better than the original. Bucket knows the blues, no doubt.
Songs are up influenced by a mood there as fragile and ferice as a flame if there not captured in the Moment there going forever it's one of life's tragedies we are blessed to have this gift of the soul beautiful and stunning 🤘
Buckethead is the only guitarist I know who has mastered all genres....from blues to thrash to acoustic to avante garde to heavy metal to techno to jazz to even rap.
Seems like "The Thrill Is Gone" is a funny choice for a wedding, but ANYTIME is Buckethead time. he is all knowing, all seeing, and all playing due to the special powers he acquired being "coop raised"
Had the thrill is gone as the first song at my wedding. Absolutely no one got it, just went straight over everyone's heads. Was still awesome though...
The blues is about feeling, not notes per second. The gentleman with the KFC hat knows this very well. He "gets it" about every genre he plays in.
Although Blues can be pretty boring after 2 songs.
@@chickentwisties2298 So true. Between slow blues and 12 bar blues that rut is very deep and very narrow. I'm pretty sick and tired of it, really.

For the love of God, Buckethead, please put this on a CD with great sound. I'll buy 10 copies in case I lose the first 9.

That's comparing
it is
@Jeff Watson Only non guitar players will compare one to another. There are no comparisons only artistry & favorites.

@@nicot9305 You do realise the the "failing human" has been dead for a number of years right? Maybe show him the same respect Buckethead has.
People that think BH is all technique and no soul should listen to this. BB King would be proud.

Have you checked out his song- Chicken Boy ?
I had never heard of that song until you mentioned it, immediately I listened to it and I absolutely love it.
:)
he has like a pike or two which are complete blues , check buckethead-in the hollow hills
Which Pike albums are the blues ones?
Simply the finest control of a fret board I've ever seen.... including Gary Moore etc
It's good stuff. slash said he doesn't think bucketheads playing has a lot of feeling surprised he would say that
He obviously doesn't listen to the body of his work.

Funny that his phrasing is better on the blues than his own songs. Having a 12 bar pattern makes it simpler
