Like others I also enjoy the art of the builds but sometimes I do not agree with parts of the builds. Extending the taillights by 3" is a case in point. I personally feel a one and a half inch extension would have been more than enough.
@@mattcasoniFrenched in and recessed would be a classy custom look. Adding longer extensions look scabbed on, an afterthought. No other part of the car has rude protrusions like that.
I think extending the tail lights is going to be regrettable, id french them or if the doner vehicle in the woods still had rear lights and rear quarters, id remove them and look at fitting them below the lights so each side had 2 side fins and rear lights if that makes sense ? But extending the rear lights feels like your changing it for the sake of changing it,, rather than because it will look better ! Different do t always mean better ! But the chop looks great btw. I watch every night without fail, so hiya from london uk
Adding extensions on the top and bottom of the new taillight will draw the form of the fender into this piece. It does visually stretch the car out and down which I think works. It also reflects the art deco aspect of the car. Good job.
Looks great. I like how fast you work... you aren't messing around. I do like the way you built it in a way that you can creatively add to it if you aren't satisfied. Everyone can have their own vision when creating, may not make everyone happy with your vision but thats why it custom. Keep doing your thing! ;)
Yes the Tail lights are coming along with a new sculpted way,,, it is good to see how you design and build as you go.. It is your art and you are the artist/s Bad Chad and Jolene, so if you are happy, wooop, wooop, then that is all that matters.
Hi Chad & Jolene nice work as always! Chad just a suggestion if you decide to keep the tail lights like that you might want to open up the holes in the trunk so you can get at the nuts to take the light on and off to be able to change the bulbs, I am sure you probably have a plan though. The car is really coming along great I really like it so far. Jolene excellent work as always when are you going to put more content on your website? I enjoyed watching it very much. Go Team Hiltz!
Hello Chad and familie ! keep on doing what you do , I'm 67 and new to your channel, also have been building hotrods all my adult life and son you do it Right don't listen to the critics ,and your right when a man tells you the car is rust free ,in my book it reflects his credibility 🤙
I saw a 1950 pink Ford very cool but you are absolutely right it can't look another car it has to be one of a kind no matter what I think being original in the way a car is customized to be one off people don't realize that there idea is different if any body doesn't like the taillights now wait till you're done then it they don't like them oh well they aren't building the car any thing I say there's something about spotlites on 1950scar hint hint love it
Bad Chad the Artiste. This is awesome. The taillights, maybe a wee bit too extended, but, still artistic design. I can hardly wait for paint, Chad. Jolene is faaaantastic with the video and a great compliment to you Chad. I was disappointed in the past but my faith has been restored.
Oh Yea...I think this car should be in a magazine! How do you like that! And as far as Fina goes...I think she is somewhat concerned about the loud pounding, high pitched whine of the grinder, burning hot sparks of metal from welding.....but you can see in her eyes that she just barely allows it! This car is looking so hot...I think it should be a dark metalic Red!
What would look badass is to French the head light rings onto the fenders and French the grill and front bumper to the body of the car..on TH-cam I seen a 49 ford shoebox that had stuff like that done to it and it looked amazing.was trying to upload the screenshot but can't figure out how to do so..but it's gray color if u look 49 ford shoebox up on TH-cam..they frenched the whole front end onto the fenders and stuff..looks super nice
If people just waite and see what the tail lights do for the look of this bad 1950 ford people this car is 74 years old when it is painted wow it will be a piece of eye candy for the real car lovers ,Chad it is your own master piece love your videos.
Hi Jolene and Chad. Chad I have one thing to say and that is do it your way for there will be some who won't like it and some will but you are the only one who has to be satisfied with it. God bless and have a blessed evening and night
Right now, as I see the taillight extension, I think that 1 and half inches would have been plenty. It is hard looking at the line of the car to figure out what is the best fit. I am looking at a 58 impala as a benchmark. My only point is the tails should fit the body line. Can't give it a yeah or a nay I will leave it to you to ponder out. The difference in the Chevy is that the start of the taillight case was incased into the body then worked outward. The body of the Ford is so stout it is hard to see its full affect. I know in the end you will give it your best effort. I am stymied..
The taillights look so wrong. The std rear light set up (with addition of blue dots inset into taillight) fits really well with the Kustom look. Please don’t make it look goofy….
Sorry. The taillights look like an add-on to me. And a long add-on at that. Its not a good look on a custom car. Maybe frenched taillights. It's not to late.
Happy new year's Fina,Jolene n Chad from Christchurch New Zealand love you guys, keep up the awesome builds, been watching since 2018, as for the tail lights cracks me up I can tell when something looks controversial and I watch quietly in the back ground and Nek Minute Bamm you bring it together, anyways have a awesome day 😂❤
Maybe I missed something since I’m multitasking and watching this too… I hope from custom trim pieces are added above and below the taillights. Some kind of flow shape with a nice curved radius that suddenly swoops into the top and bottom of the extension. I nice crossbar from left to right across the truck (to each light) may even add a nice touch.
gotta Admit He's a Master of Metal working, NOBODY else can do what he does in the time he does it.. But we have all seen his talents at Metal workin, Bodyfill, and sanding time after time, I want to learn how ya do a custom multi-color Paint job... Just once I want to see something make it past the Primer stage..
It’s all about doing things your own way and many or some may not agree and they don’t have too . Unfortunately like the last build, the bike hauler ruined it for my taste and the tail light extension just did it again. Not sure what visual inspired this but it doesn’t work for my eyes ,but it doesn’t have to. It’s just opinion but I don’t like many other areas.
Calm down people. He said he isnt finished with it yet. He might add to or he might change if he doesn't like it. Just my opinion i would add a piece of metal underneath to swoop down further to the car. It does look off a little to the car the way you have it now. But its looking awesome brother!!!
Chad your custom tail lights are looking like the 50s studibacker I think that goes well with a continental kit. Happy 2024 to you and Jolene. Greetings from California.
Chad, have you thought about how you will be able to bolt the light units on when you have welded and closed in the extended lights? I suggest you will need to open up the original holes in the wing to gain access, which would be easier to do now, before welding any additional metal work on?
It would look awesome if the back end swept down to meet them, almost a fastback kind of thing. But it may be too boxy in the back for these. They may look better an inch shorter since the car's so chubby looking. Anyway, thanks dude. Loving this car.
CHAD, I like the tail lights extended. It makes it look like the car took off so fast that the tail lights havn't caught up with the car yet. When I look at the car I get this feeling. Thanks Bob
The light extensions are looking good, I believe I would add something to the tops, and bottoms to give them a more subtle look instead of just popping out there in mid air.
Alright Tail lights! Thought I'd stop by and wish everyone Happy New Year! I have so many shows to watch now, I don't always get a chance to look what Chad is up to. Always a great job Jolene!
Not 100% Sure on this one. Im guessing he will french the headlights. Jolene does a fabulous job with the camera. I see he's using the idea of Doug and Nathan on his mic placement since he was cutting it off yesterday.
When you ran the line with the level to the tail light I would have made a mark where it touched the panel and made a mark and ran the metal to that point to keep the transition smoother
Whatever way u decide I know it will look cool..tail light toward trunk make go straight to the trunk line..then do 3" spacer extension pieces like u already made to go across the trunk so tail lights and just out my them selfs then the car basically have new body line that wraps around the back
Chad it might be an idea to get some white markers, have you thought about getting a medium size anvil for flattening and small bends over the horn of the anvil ? When doing the small things why not put a locating mark on part and car
I wonder if you add a piece of round stock to the side scalp to extend the line on the side and then add round stock bent in the shape of the existing top and bottom of the fenders to extend them the three inches that you moved the tail lights out may look cool???? Just my bellybutton 😂
Hey Chad if you bolt a magnet to your earth lead it make earthing so much easier ,, there is a bolt on the opposite side where earth wire connects to clamp . 👍
Looking at it and what your doing. Your putting ridge on both sides. Maybe and on coming down from the of the fender like a mini wing extension to the light
You need to do more with taillights they look goofy hanging that far out .
Goofy is my GOD😂.
I dont mind them, but yeah, theres a lot of cool options still open for sure.
Like others I also enjoy the art of the builds but sometimes I do not agree with parts of the builds. Extending the taillights by 3" is a case in point. I personally feel a one and a half inch extension would have been more than enough.
i agree on the taillight 1" 0r 1.5" would look better
Or sunken in
@@mattcasoniFrenched in and recessed would be a classy custom look. Adding longer extensions look scabbed on, an afterthought. No other part of the car has rude protrusions like that.
Being a work in progress, I'll wait. Maybe a V shape, all the way down under the light, could help. I'll wait, ha
@@rickdaystar477 agreed. I love this car. The way the back window lays is so cool. It was subtly cool.

Yes you're right ......'art deco aspect' follow ...Bad Chad views and the silhouette of the whole...unlike some followers ...😩,...😉👍

Huge fan of the original tailights. So sad to see them go. LOL

You should get yourself a contour gauge! Definitely will help speed up template making.
Great job!
That would be the right way
The chop and cat walk are awesome, i will save my comment for later on the tail lights 🤔
Hi Jolene and Chad. Chad I have one thing to say and that is do it your way for there will be some who won't like it and some will but you are the only one who has to be satisfied with it. God bless and have a blessed evening and night
Yes, extend the side line to match up with the taillight (AND,) match the top line of the quarter panel as well so nothing is missing...
Do what makes you happy. Your own thoughts are definitely unique
Nice match for the tailpipes!😊
It’s amazing how small changes make a striking difference
Excess metal not access
Lol...yup
Thank you! Somebody explain this to him!!!
I like the idea of rolling rear end. Below the trunk. Leave the taillights stock. Roof is beautiful . ❤
Now that everything is closed, how do you tighten the bolts? 🤔🤔🤔
Looks good. The side closest to the trunk needs to come in a bit.
Nice work on the extension idea.👍🏁
Before you go too far, convert the lamps to LEDs for longevity...
Chad made the point of saying hes making this shoebox unique from others hes seen ...tailights are part of the difference .
The taillights look so wrong. The std rear light set up (with addition of blue dots inset into taillight) fits really well with the Kustom look.
Please don’t make it look goofy….
always enjoy the art , can not wait to see what you will create this year
A woodworking contouring tool will do that you can by one or 3d print one
Sorry. The taillights look like an add-on to me. And a long add-on at that. Its not a good look on a custom car. Maybe frenched taillights. It's not to late.
Great demonstration of pattern making re: tail lights. Also, we could not fully appreciate Chad’s work without Jolene’s outstanding camera work.

Great choice with the tailight extension. Will you add vertical decorative pieces, above and below the taillights? maybe raised arrows?
Chad knows his metal work
Not liking those tail lights nice clean look is better
The top of the 1/4 panel should now be extended to meet the top edge of the tail lamp imo. Chad you are an artist.
Those tail lights look like the care has "Thyroid Tail Light Disease".
Great job again . Something different that you don’t see everyday

Sorry, the taillights are extended beyond tasteful!
Wait until the reflectors are added !
Well now I know how to extend yours however you like. 😅
not done L0L people😅???
It’s not to YOUR taste.. is that what you’re saying? Funny, no one cares especially him.
It only looks weird because the rear bumper is off the car
I don't care for the look but i can appreciate the metal work.
While we enjoy being shown what can be done and how it can be done, it’s a shame the cars have to suffer such tasteless decisions!
I would like to see plan B
Plan A not so good
It Needs a continental kit now to make up for those extendo lights
Go for it Chad 👁 🐅 👌
good start to the new year kids, love it all!

Sorry taillights stick out too much 1"1/2 would look better but at least you got a place to set your beer lol
Bad Ass Chad!! That tail light is rad, dude! wow!
Chad your custom tail lights are looking like the 50s studibacker I think that goes well with a continental kit. Happy 2024 to you and Jolene. Greetings from California.
Wonder if the taillights were Vertical would look better?
The extension of the tail light, to left 3 inches and the right 2.95 inche makes it right angle. It seems to me that it is out bit to the left.
I can dig it ! ✌🏻😎👍🏻
Chad, The Rear window turned out to be a superb bit of design and Fabrication. 🙂👍

It looked better how it was
Would be nice if made a swoop from top of back fender and bottom up at seam to incorporate tail lights.
Maybe consider putting small signal lights under neath the lights. Would look pretty cool. They would be invisible until you hit the signal lights.
Really love this build 😍 the taillights are going to look 👌
nice metal work chad
Looking GOOD. But I think you have to continue the fab extension below the tail lights also.
The extended lights look beautiful ❤❤
Happy New Year 🎉🎉
Chad and Jolene you two make an awesome team❤❤
You come up with pretty cool creations, can't wait to see the color you and Joelle deside on be watching tomorrow.
Is that a winter scene ( looks like winter green trees )on the side of the car door or dust from the body work?..
Love the .. off the top... craftmanship Chad.. Again.. another steady unedited video.. Thank you Jolene!! Cheers,Bernie
The light extensions are looking good, I believe I would add something to the tops, and bottoms to give them a more subtle look instead of just popping out there in mid air.
It's hard to believe how easy he makes everything look, completely amazing!
You could route the exhausts to exit inline with the tail lights and form them to match the tail light shape.
Great work 👏
That looks better ,makin it out of sheet metal . Need to lengthen the fins and body lines ,this build is looking awesome ..
good show learned alot😎👍
Alright Tail lights! Thought I'd stop by and wish everyone Happy New Year! I have so many shows to watch now, I don't always get a chance to look what Chad is up to. Always a great job Jolene!
Tail lights bad choice to modify that way just my belly button 😊
Precise fitting is hard and time consuming! Chad gets it done!
Chad's the man in your element when it comes to fabrications always looks top quality .thanks as always thx Jolene keeping us connected in 2024

You took it a bit too far with those tail lights.
Thanks for watching.😂
Will this one get finished before moving on to the next project?
That’s going to need a bumper of the same depth
Bad Chad sei un grande👏👏👏👏👏
Looking at it and what your doing. Your putting ridge on both sides.
Maybe and on coming down from the of the fender like a mini wing extension to the light
Next time when making these templates for metal, make them with the green bodywork tape
