  • If you have stiction and want to free up the spool valves a little more aggressively than just adding Rev-X or Archoil then you should consider sanding your spool valves. It's a bit of a job to remove and install 8 injectors but once you clean up the spool valves it makes a world of difference in how your truck runs when cold.

Man, looks like this will save me a TON of money. I have stiction issues with my 05 Excursion on cold start, and I was expecting to have to replace my injectors at 200-250 a pop. Looks like a simple rebuild is the way to go.
    Thanks, pal!

Did it work? How long did it last?

Great vid. Btw I use a little chrome polish to lap the spool valves in the housing. It works great and produces a mirror finish on the valves themselves. The grit in it is fine enough that it can't be felt with your fingers, so no damage is done. No sticky!

Thanks for sharing. I took a brass wire brush to my nozzles and made a couple passes with 1000 grit to finish them up. Now I’m reading that you should not use any abrasives on the nozzles. Do you think I’ll be ok using them or should I order new nozzles?

Did the stiction come back? If so how long did this repair last? Thanks

Interesting video. Thanks for sharing. I’m kinda curious how often that internal oring/seal on the plunger goes bad and if so where do you find a replacement? None of the kits I’ve seen come with that seal and I’m thinking this is what might be failing on my injector.

Can this loose high oil pressure on that spool ???? I change all the seal on my truck rail and injectors and I still have a leak and I can’t find wear it comes from under the valve covers

Did you ever figure it out, I've heard if the spool is inserted backwards it can cause a High pressure oil leak.

Maybe you should go to manual focus?

Possibly, but my hands were a bit oily from the injector so I was trying not to touch the camera too much.

You don’t sand them. If I was forced to use anything on them I would use a polishing compound. Everything inside an injector has a tolerance of 0.0005 or less.

800 grit wet/dry will not do anything to that material besides remove the varnish that is on them.
