@TDubsKid I haven't read through the comments yet but wanted to mention that the helmet lock latch is meant to go through the D rings of the helmet straps. Securing your helmet as you did in the video means all you have to do is unstrap the helmet and it's stolen, defeating to whole purpose of the lock. In all other respects, your video was absolute gold sir!

What's up tdubskid. I would like to take a moment to say thank you. Your content has inspired me to purchase a tdub about a year ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a new one but I found a nice used '13 a couple states over and got it. I've put about 5k miles on it and regularly use your videos to help me maintain it. I've got a 50 mile commute to get to the Base I work at, so the miles add up pretty quickly. I put a 45 tooth sprocket on the back and just roll along a 55mph. You've also inspired me to go motocamping and I've thoroughly myself.
Thank you, again for your content and inspiration!

As an old dude, the thought may cross my mind when I see sexy girls in music videos or young guys doing athletic things that I used to be able to do. But this kind of video really hits home to me. Yes, nothing stopping me from doing this now but I mean just that state of being and that stage of life - to be a young man with a TW200 or some trail bike, using it as your main transport, exploring on weekends. Enjoy it young fella, it's a golden time to be alive.

1986 for Christmas I got a TW200 when I was 15. Upgrade from my old 1979 XR 75 I had since I was 11. It IS without a doubt the tank of bikes. It's tough as hell. And while it wasn't the best bike to do jumps with it more than made up for that in the mud or trekking through unexplored terrain like thick woods, rocks and thick sand that leave other bikes stranded.
My friends at the time rode an XT 200 Yamaha, DR 200 Susuki a CR 125 Honda and an XL 100 Honda. The only bike mine would beat in a drag race was the XL 100, but top speed was pretty close to the same topping out at about 70 MPH. The other bikes topped out around 85 to 95, but 99% of our riding was on dirt sandy roads, fields, mud and beaches along the Choptank river so I'd guess our average speed was maybe 45 MPH at most so the TW never really had a problem keeping up. In the thick sand rock climbing and mud the other bikes had no chance of keeping up with the TW.
It's a really fun bike with more pro's than con's. Easy to work on, pretty much bullet proof engine and it takes a beating most bikes can't handle. I'd recommend the TW200 to anyone from beginner to expert rider, it offers a lot of fun no matter your riding skill.

      @TDubsKid  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

+preston121068 that’s awesome! I would have loved one at 15 years old haha yeah not great for jumps especially bad at landing them. Yeah such a great bike just to explore all types of terrain. Makes sense it is a pretty heavy bike and the big tires add more rolling resistance. Haha that’s rad just depends on where your riding. True that such a good dependable bike that will take you anywhere

I got my first bike last year, and its a liter sports bike. I even took it on dirt roads and stuff like that, trying to figure out what kind of riding is most fun and enjoyable. And its cool, its definitely nice to have all the power to do whatever you want, but most enjoyment I ever had, was just rolling around on country roads without speeding that much or at all. Made me understand that just seat time and riding all year long without problems is most important, rather than few bursts of adrenaline when your bike finally runs right

I had one of these with the drum brakes back in the late 90's. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's perfect for a first time rider. I went from this to a VT1300 to a Harley Fatboy, now I'm onto 4 wheelers lol. Bought a Polaris 570 that is a work horse. Nothing fancy, just a 4 wheeler.
Watching you hit stuff and fall over reminded me of the other good part to this bike. You can hit a wall at 55 and the bike will drive home while you sit in the hospital lmao

When you say you had an issue with the stock battery and that the electrolyte "kind of leaked out over time", and you're not sure why that is? And another thing is that it can take a beating. I laughed so hard of all the short clips of the crashes. "It's like a clock that keeps on ticking". That laughter trained my abs for a whole week. It made my day. Your funny man, good sense of humor. ... I started riding in the dirt in 1969 on a Honda Mini Trail. Raced motocross, (Yamaha and 250 Maico's) Hare Scrambles, Enduro's and Dave Coombs 100 Mile Series (before there was a GNCC that I am aware of) Sold my last dirt bike, a 1982 IT 175 (that I loved) in 1985. Got married in 1984, Bought a house in 1986. Started fishing light tackle in the Chesapeake bay tributaries and I am addicted to that.
Bought a HD 1200 Sportster in 2007 and I am seriously considering selling it to get a TW200 and get back to some dirt.

I agree, I like to be forced to take the back roads too and that's what inspired me to get the new bike I did.. I finally got one! For the last year I've saved and planned to get the Yamaha 660 tenere but yesterday that all changed. I went to a vintage bike show and test rode and bought a ... Drum roll! .. Royal Enfield classic 500 in army green, I got a great deal on last year's showroom model for $3000 ..2 grand off a brand new bike! so I couldn't say no. So with the money I saved I've ordered the metal panniers and crash bars and upgrade all the lights and put a big windshield on it for touring.. it's gonna looks sick ! Like a world war 2 despatch bike , they are slow as hell and vibrate like fuck but so fun to ride , top out at 60mph so all back roads for me from now on and our back roads are different from yours.. I think y'all call'em single tracks ? haha so yes I've got some adventures ahead for me fishing and camping on this little beauty . Gets delivered Wednesday and I can't wait!

I change the oil in my Yamaha XT225 every 1000 miles. Small air cooled engines are super hard on oil. Plus I ride in hot weather in the dusty AZ desert. I never cared for handguards, they get in my way. Back in 1970 when I started riding off road (at age 11) there was no such thing as hand guards. I carry an extra set of levers. I would like to trade my XT225 for a TW200, but I seriously doubt my ability to fix a flat tire on the TW200 out in the middle of nowhere. I generally get 2-3 flats a year on my XT225.

Hi I like your videos about TW200. I have noticed in one of video that you have problem with uneven wearing of front tire. I do have same problem with my 200cc motorcycle. Every second tread on this tire is worn out. what can cause this problem? I do assume that front telescopic shock are the problem. Low oil? No oil?
    Thank you

hey thanks! and honestly pretty much all knobbie front tires will wear uneven if you do pavement riding especially if the air pressure is lower

I remember seeing this bike every day when I walked home from school! Some guy in an apartment building owned it back in the 90's.I remember thinking that the rear tire size would be great for doing wheelies! Always wanted to ride one!!

Big fan of the channel. Just got a 2021 that I’ve slowly been modding. Big question I have is “How are you getting such good gas economy?”
I’ve gone through two tests to see where I hit my reserve tank. First was 65 miles, second was 60. I’m racking my brain to factor in all things that would influence my economy.
    1st: Payload
I’m 175 lbs, riding gear 25 lbs, backpack 15 lbs.
    2nd: Fuel & Air Intake
I’ve got the stock jet, stock air filter, and have tinkered with the pilot screw to optimize startup and throttle response (1.75 turns out from bottom). Both tests were at 5000’ - 6500’ above sea level.
    3rd: Type of Riding
Both tests were about 50/50 off-road/on-road.
    Any input is much appreciated.
Thanks for the content TDubsKid and don’t stop killing it!

hey glad you enjoy it! congrats on your new TW
might because I weigh only 120?
I ride around that altitude and higher. have never touched my carb though
hmm I found it gets the best gas mileage going slower off road.
      no problem, thanks for watching!
