  • Grading every pick in the NFC West for the #49ers #Rams #Seahawks #Cardinals in the 2024 #nfldraft
Why I do Draft Grades Videos:
This is a fun exercise to visit how I believe these players will produce for these teams, what these coaches and players can work on to make these Grades look wrong in a few years, vice versa, as well as what these Drafts might tell us about a certain team’s plans or opinions on existing players on their roster or the types of schemes they are looking to run.
    DRAFT GRADING CRITERIA
    DAYS 1 & 2
    “S” -Certified Steal
    • Need, team/scheme fit check out and the value is better than expected
    “A”
    • Value, need, and team/scheme fit all check out
    “B”
    • Good pick, but one of the following apply
o Player was a slight reach
o Positional value in question (1st Round Only)
o Team passed on a better player at the position for the team
o Team ignored value at a major need (1st Round Only)
o Team/Scheme fit is in question
o An otherwise “C” graded pick due to value and/or better players being available, but a massive hole at a value position (QB, OT, WR, ED, DT, CB) was addressed in Round 1 with a still good player that wouldn’t have been available for the team later
    “C”
    • Fine pick but two of the following apply
o Player was a slight reach
o Positional value in question (1st Round Only)
o Team passed on a better player at the position for the team
o Team ignored value at a major need with (1st Round Only)
o Team/Scheme fit is in question
    “D”
    • Pick is in question as three of the following apply
o Player was a Slight reach
o Positional value in question (1st Round Only)
o Team passed on a better player at the position for the team
o Team ignored value at a major need with (1st Round Only)
o Team/Scheme fit is in question
OR Player was a major reach
    “F”
    • A truly inexplicable pick as player was a major reach, AND team passed on a better player at the position for the team, team/scheme fit is in question, or team ignored value at a major need or positional value is in question (1st Round Only)
"-" May be applied if pick required a high trade-up price
    “+” For a reach following a trade-down
    DAY 3
    Certified Steal (Purple)
    • Team stole a player who had a Day 1 or 2 grade who has a legit shot to be an impact player
    Great Pick (Green)
    • Team found above average value and a player with a legit chance to start within the first couple of seasons with the team OR a great role player in a key spot right away (Goal line back, #3 D-Lineman, TE2, dime back, kick returner, etc.)
    Good Pick (Blue)
    • Value lines up and player is in a great scheme or opportunity to find success as a starter or key role player relative to most Day 3 picks
    Solid Pick (White)
    • No notable criticisms of the pick but expectations should be tampered as with any Day 3 Pick
Reach / Will Regret Not Taking… / Not a fan (Orange)
    • (Round 4 & 5 only) Player was a notable reach and/or notably better players would have been better picks, but the player still had a draftable grade
    • (Round 6 & 7) Player was evaluated and did not have a draftable grade
    Massive Reach (Red)
    • (Round 4 & 5 only) Team took a player who did not have a draftable grade OR reached multiple rounds while passing on several better options for the position

When I saw Seattle take Knight, yourself and Hail Mary sports immediately came to mind! Apparently Coach MacDonald loved that guy.
I as well never thought Murphy would fall to #16. Same with Haynes at #81. To me those two picks alone make it a very good draft. Two instant starters. Didn't see much of Knight but I know a few people like yourself loved the guy. Barner is basically Dissly 2.0 so it makes sense. Wasn't a huge fan of selecting two CBs, but we need depth as only Woolen and Spoon are contracted past this year. Didn't take it so much as one could take Woolen's job, more so needed depth. All in all I was very pleased. Thank you good sir for all your hard work!

The Cardinals draft was fine and they did grab some really good players but…. With 12 freaking picks and 7 of those being top 100, I really felt like they had an opportunity to have a historic amount of talent injected into that team. And I was just a little underwhelmed by what they did.

You have to understand, drafting players is a lot more than what these "mock draft experts" have them at. They don't see things behind the scenes or know what their mentality is like. You'll see in 2 years who did what and why. These players the Cardinals picked up have 1 thing in common and they're dogs. They all put their head down and do what they're supposed. The rest can hopefully be coached. Only time will tell...

    • @Seddysaid
      @Seddysaid หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Also, the Cardinals fit the best receiver/best player in the draft. They also drafted the best running back in the draft. Robinson was the 2nd best DL in the draft. There's a reason Newton fell. Max Melton was the 3rd best corner in the draft. The Cardinals will be a playoff team this year and it will be all due to the young players

The Seahawks defense is kinda sneaky nasty now. A sick CB duo of Weatherspoon and Woolen. Two fantastic DTs in Williams and Murphy. Solid edge guys in Mafe, Nwosu, and maybe Hall if he takes a step.
I don’t love what they have at LB and S, but it’s solid enough with guys like Baker, Love, Jenkins, and Wallace.

49ers fans here. A little dumbfounded they didn't grab IOL Jackson Powers-Johnson with the 1st rounder. Could totally replace Feliciano at RG and eventually become their C in another 2 years for the next decade. (JPJ actually tested better in pass blocking than Creed Humphrey and Tyler Lindebaum did as prospects per PFF.) Seems like a missed opportunity to start re-tooling this OL. Also would have preferred CB Andru Phillips in Round 2 over Green. And then could've grabbed Troy Franklin with the 3rd rounder. I like that trio of JPJ/Phillips/Franklin over the trio we got for the same positions. Also intrigued by their UDFA QB Tanner Mordecai. We'll see how it all shakes out. Love your content!

@@jevinwallace1878 I've been wanting someone to do this for years, but I don't see it being worth the effort for any content creator. 1) What would it show or prove? 2) Not everyone's college ranking transfers to the NFL.
Making something like this that shows some positions have a better or worse ratio in the NFL might be interesting.
But also, these content-creators are no less prone to repeating empty memes than the general public. Even NFL coaches & GMs fall for them. For instance, I can show you video footage of Fields doing things in the NFL I've yet to see Caleb do in college.
But I can't find the reverse. Caleb's ability to scramble, to fling the ball 50+ air yards & hit receivers in stride, on the run, at weird arm angles are all things Fields has done in the NFL. He even made the Bears the #1 offense 3 weeks straight _BEFORE_ they acquired D.J. Moore so without an o-line _or_ a receiving corps.
& yet each one of these analysts think he's a bust & Caleb will be the Second Coming. Because of analysis? Nope, because they mindlessly accept things they hear. The Bears lost those 3 games. He made them #1 in a league with Mahomes, Allen, Lamar Jackson & another one proposed to be better than himself who had the best receiving _trio_ in the league & you know what meme they repeated?
      "He can't win."
First time I heard any of these guys blame a QB for a team's defensive woes & they *all* repeated it.

Thanks for giving John and Mike some praise, saw that the media has us ranked an average of like 22 overall for draft grades which seemed CRAZY. Glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks so. Still think Pit had the best draft, but I did quite like ours

Concerning the Cardinals' draft: If you have the 4th, the 27th, the 43rd, the 66th, the 71st, the 82nd, the 91st and the 100th overall picks in a stacked, very good draft class, I expect you to do much better! That's three Top 50 picks! Respectively eight Top 100 picks!!! I would have loved to see the Cardinals emerge from this draft as an altered, strong franchise. At least they did not miss out on Marvin Harrison Junior! Hopefully, some of the 2nd and third round draft picks will hit!!! Regards!

Super excited about the Seahawks class here. I think if Macdonald is the coach we want him to be him, then guys like Knight and Prichett should be studs

Surprised you didn't mention jack westover as a UDFA steal for the hawks -- big playmaker with penix, crazy good hands. May not be the best athlete with the highest upside but going with Grubb who already knows how to use him is a big plus in my book

As a 49ers fan, I grading all of our picks I had us at a C+.
    49ers - C+
    #31 Ricky Pearsall - C+
    #64 Renardo Green - B-
    #86 Dominick Puni - C+
    #124 Malik Mustapha - B-
    #129 Isaac Guerendo - B-
    #135 Jacob Cowing - C-
    #215 Jarrett Kingston - n/a
    #251 Tatum Bethune - n/a
Don’t dislike Pearsall but with the other players on the board and the needs on our team it was truly baffling, pretty happy with it besides that but that first pick was tough to swallow

For the 1st it's tough. Pearsall could be adam thielen. They have very similar athletic profiles and play style and he was really good in his prime. If pearsall can be that guy then it's a great pick

    For my hawks, I was pounding the table for Cade Stover over AJ Barnes, and hoping we could trade next year's 3rd or 4th to move up 10 spots for Payton Wilson and maybe recoup a 5th. Tell me that lineup wouldn't put you over the moon;
    Byron Murphy
    Christian Haynes
    Payton Wilson
    Cade Stover
    Nehemiah Pritchet
    for our 1st 4 rounds.

I agree Darius will likely never be the “superstar” but I don’t think you need that to return 1st round value or whatever you said. I think he’ll be the anchor for this defense moving inside and out when needed. Especially adding someone really good outside I think that group will be absolutely ridiculous. I thought before the draft he was a perfect fit for our team and what we need and was kind of hoping he’d be the pick. And to note he got his masters and is probably the most dedicated player I’ve ever seen. Just listen to his post draft interview man. And Isaiah Adams definitely listed as guard and he could start day 1 at left guard.

I think calling the Fiske trade the worst move of the draft is silly. If they stayed put the only iDL they'd have to choose would have been Michael Hall. They got their guy at a major spot of need and still have a first next year so they could trade down and get the second back next year
