Wish l lived closer Richard,l could come and fix all those leaks ,I’m 75 now but l served my apprenticeship on those tractors at B.S.Bird &Co(Gloucester) Ltd,good luck Richard
There are two split pins under the clutch bell housing, these are ment to slowly drain any oil build up in there areas, but sometimes they become blocked. The metal plate with four bolts do not normally have a gasket and serves as a clutch inspection and ajustment cover but if there's oil coming out of it this may indicate that theres a build up of oil and it could be that your oil seal on your pto and drive shaft has failed also. If you undo the small brass bolt in front of the clutch ajustment plate, give it a poke in its hole this should drain the access oil in that area, other than splitting your tractor and installing new seals try cleaning the split pins and there holes with an air line. good luck Richard..
Surely its a Massey Dave job, fellow TH-camr.. Service the fuel pump/buy replacement, try copper washer when doing the oil change as a standard service. gasket paste is fairly cheap, something you'd be able to do yourself..
She is in lovely condition for her age!! Leaks, drops, bumps and bruises are just part of the course for a tractor of her age. But it would be fantastic to have her all sorted!! Crack on!!
Hello Richard, under the clutch bell housing of your MF35 you should see a brass bolt, this is a drain plug to eliviate the build up of oil that tends to if it is not drained quite regulary will pick up on your tractor fly wheel and start to apear in the areas you have oil leaking. The drain plug hole usually requires a bit of a poke to get it to run out, unfortunatly if oil does appear this is a indication that your rear crank oil seal needs replacing.
Injector pump has 2 small o rings where throttle and cut off levers go through the top cover. Over time, they go hard and weep diesel. Easy enough to replace. Good videos on you tube. Seat should have a back like you said.
I hope you are planning to get your self a nice New or Used steam Jenny it will work better cleaning your tractors get all the poop off dirt and mud whatever and they will last longer and don’t forget the tractors are getting expense and we all need to take care of them better today nicely clean I like it. I used to use one at work and I used to get covered with it. Grease you name it salt. They do very good job.
Don't know what your budget is on this but would recommend an engine overhaul with all the leaks I think it would be your best option I think myself it looks like all the gaskets would have to be gone through so would have to strip that engine back anyway.
Deisel leaking from the injectors is a useual indication that the copper washers on each injector needs replacing. The oil leaking under engine sump lookes to be coming from the oil drain plug but if you want a belt and braces fix and where to give it a full service you might consider removing the oil strainer and giving it a thorough clean and also replacing the casket, which are all on top of the ring of bolts and sump plate near the engine drain plug.
Hi Richard I live around 70 miles away from you. I've got 32 years spanering under my belt . I would love to come and give you some advice or help if I can . I'm just putting it out there. You may find someone closer to yourself. Many thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
Hi funky farmer, I’m no mechanic and I’m guessing your going to get more advice than you could poke a shitty at, I’m just wishing you all the best for the funeral duties ,great viewing as always 👍
Brake cleaner is very useful for washing away oil to look for the leak is coming from No oil should be coming from the plate at the bottom held on with the 4 bolts as that is an access hole for the clutch
Nice video again, the little red one looks good. I'm already looking forward to the end result. When you've finished restoring it. And when the little red one is finished. Then there's a Ford for Harry? Then you can both go to classic car exhibitions. 💪💪👍🚜🚜
The rocker cover gaskets were always bad on them…. They were just a cork gasket and failed regularly. It’s not a difficult job to do, biggest job is taking the tank off….
Sorry to tell you that if it was bubbling around that gasket the head gasket is knackered. There is two bolds in the bottom on the bottom of the injection pump and they are prone to leaking.
Linseed on the bonnet and wings, proper oily rag finish. There's nothing difficult to fix there just a bit fiddly. I would get someone to fo it though as i don't think you'd manage it.
I needed a break from swearing at a motorbike I'm attempting to fix. I used to love taking bikes to bits and rebuilding them, but now I'm older, things are far too fiddly, new parts are made too cheaply and break straight out the box and I have way too little patience left to not start throwing tools around and kicking wheelie bins, so that's me done for the day. I'll just have to sit here and watch you fix things instead. Jobs a good 'un.
Farmers are always helping other farmers out - nice of Reg to let you lose with the steam cleaner, I would get someone to look at it asap while it's clean as it will a lot easier to diagnose that way. With an old massey like that it shouldn't break the bank to get her into tip top condition.
the little hole underneath the engine with the split pin poking through is there to drain any oil leaking from either the engine or gearbox if its black oil coming out there it will be from the engine cos that part of the tractor is where the clutch is and they have the hole there so that no oil gets onto the clutch plate.......the gasket between the clutch and engine could well be leaking a bit ......the tractor would have to be split there to renew the gasket and you might aswell put a new clutch in at the same time
What about if you first ask the viewers to have a look? Writing a comment is free and a mobile mechanic is expensive, money that a small farm doesn't have.
Pull the sump fit new corks front and rear. New engine oil and filter, let it run for a while. If Its still leaking fit also the rear rope seal on the crankshaft,
Won't cost much to reseal the oil leaks. Looks like diesel pump is weaping which would need to be taken off and go to a diesel pump specialist for resealing, again it won't break the bank. Get in touch with the nearest vintage machinery club they'll point you in the right direction.
Time to get a mechanic in - in person. Yes there are washers and gaskets needed BUT best to get someone to start at the beginning otherwise you could end up replacing gaskets, washers etc only to find you have issues and have to strip down and replace them again. A bloke in overalls really is the way to go.
My advice is get some one to come look at it while it is clean by the looks you need some new gaskets and sump plug copper washers on transmission and engine the plate under the gear box with four bolts is to adjust the clutch it may require a new gasket to mine 3 cylinder leaks lots of desiel out places to .if your not sure please don't touch anything it worth the money to get a mechanic in to do it properly you can supervise and learn as he or she does it if they don't mind that way you know what is what ..hope you can get it sorted out there a lovely little tractors love mine have 3 35 and a little grey tea2o petrol like your late dads old one with a saw bench to .
Well that funny is your 35 a 3 cylinder desiel engine as we have to 3 cylinder 35 tractor one is a x it not bad for leakes but the other one is doing the same as your check all the bolts that you can get to the wire on the plug in the manifold it a heater for cold start mine leakes around that to but you may have a rear main seal gone to you need to break the tractor to fix that m
Wish l lived closer Richard,l could come and fix all those leaks ,I’m 75 now but l served my apprenticeship on those tractors at B.S.Bird &Co(Gloucester) Ltd,good luck Richard
The sump plug just needs a new coper washer, that will be one leak done.
Nice of Reg to help out, thanks Reg
That subscriber that sent you the box of goodies did you a good service.

Richard, a genuine person who knows Massey’s is cowfarmerdan a fellow TH-camr, I’m Harry willl watch him.
I bet Adrian of “I Farm we Farm” could advise you. He is a whiz at engines.
She is in lovely condition for her age!! Leaks, drops, bumps and bruises are just part of the course for a tractor of her age. But it would be fantastic to have her all sorted!! Crack on!!

Hi speak to cow farmer Dan he is fantastic at fixing 35 masseys and can explain everything very well
Yes, cow farmer Dan is the one for this job, he’ll talk you through all works for the 35 👍
Injector pump has 2 small o rings where throttle and cut off levers go through the top cover. Over time, they go hard and weep diesel. Easy enough to replace. Good videos on you tube. Seat should have a back like you said.

Hi Richard ask cow farmer Dan he's on TH-cam he know massys inside out
You should bring over the MF135 also to Reg for a similar clean up job on it too 👍👍👍🟥🟥🟥
Don't know what your budget is on this but would recommend an engine overhaul with all the leaks I think it would be your best option I think myself it looks like all the gaskets would have to be gone through so would have to strip that engine back anyway.
That's the problem with older toys leaks hopefully you'll get sorted
Maybe an opportunity for a TH-cam collab with Cow Farmer Dan?
Good to see Farm Manager Harry's finally got you sorting the leaks out.
Hello Richard and Farmer Harry Cornock, nice video!!!!! 😊👌👍💪
Deisel leaking from the injectors is a useual indication that the copper washers on each injector needs replacing.

That little tractor is running like a summers evening , I had one and i would love another , good luck with it
Another great video has always Richard and Harry and jack and family 👍

Hi joe 68, yesterday, 18th retired, and I live in Cornwall

Hi Richard, looking great so far and hopefully someone on here can offer their services. Crack on.
Massey Dave is your man for that
Good luck my dear. xx It will be worth it in the end.
Great video Richard, get cowfarner dan to fix it, he's in Trowbridge near Melksham.
Poor Rich just waiting to hear "it won't take the paint off" lol
Hi Richard, I hope you get your oil leaks fixed. crack on
Good Moring
The Funky Farmer
I think an engine over haul kit could fix it. Vapormatic and isn't 10÷ parts a Massey specialist that could supply the parts. Could always try Kramp
Cheers Reg👍

I'd give cowfarmerdan a call he's brilliant with MF 35s best of luck with it
Try the professional struggler mobile mechanic plus he has one of those he's on TH-cam
the little hole underneath the engine with the split pin poking through is there to drain any oil leaking from either the engine or gearbox if its black oil coming out there it will be from the engine cos that part of the tractor is where the clutch is and they have the hole there so that no oil gets onto the clutch plate.......the gasket between the clutch and engine could well be leaking a bit ......the tractor would have to be split there to renew the gasket and you might aswell put a new clutch in at the same time
That split pin is there for a reason if theirs a lot of oil coming that hole indicates seal leak on crank
I would have come down Richard 💯%. But unfortunately not allowed to drive after a stroke. You will get it sorted.
I thing Hazza enjoyed that :) Looked a bit like Angus Young from AC/DC playing his axe :)
Give her a hard week's work
I'd ask cowfarmerdan he's got mf 35
Start by replacing the rocker cover gasket, most of the oil is probably running down from that
Farmer p would help you im sure?
Myrtle the Massey has a ring to it
Do the drain plug . Crank seal if still leaking injecter seal probably perish
Your back crank seal is gone letting oil into the bell housing. Needs to be split to get at it
Agree, could be rear main seal and/or the cork gasket at the rear of the sump
What about if you got that mobile mechanic to come in and have a look
What about if you first ask the viewers to have a look? Writing a comment is free and a mobile mechanic is expensive, money that a small farm doesn't have.
There is no gasket on the plate where a loader bracket fits because obviously thats where the clutch is
Pull the sump fit new corks front and rear.
New engine oil and filter, let it run for a while.
If Its still leaking fit also the rear rope seal on the crankshaft,

You need to talk to Dan cuff or Geoff tuck about your leaks both top tractor men from thorbury

i agree. I don't want to tackle this myself
Get it to “Massey Dave” be like new when you get it back ( if that’s what ya want) and it’s content for both ya channel..
Come on Richard your a farmer,, you haven't seen a steam cleaner,,, you don't live below a rock.
Turbo it and a straight through chrome stack😮😅
22:20 Is that split pin filling a hole? It looks odd whatever its there for.
Any oil leaks in the bell housing need to drain out of the hole, the split pin jiggles about to keep the hole clear
@@steveC2 Ah that makes sense. Thank you.
I thought Massey Ferguson 35’s where made with oil leaks😂
👍
that whole seat number plate assembley needs replacing realy looks like it could come off make it safer
yes definitely on the project list
Much or George Saunders might no
Cow farmer dan can.
Massey dave is your man for job I'm sure he is not far from you
👍👍🇮🇪🇮🇪🙏🙏💪💪
looks like it needs a wigwam with a doodaa to me
I'm a mechanic but your a bit far for me unfortunately
You need to be careful; if oil can get out, water under pressure can get IN.
