Jesse, having clean equipment accomplishes 3 major things...
First it makes it easier to find leaks, cracks, broken welds....
Then it makes operating and repairs so much better...
Third clean and well maintained equipment instills a sense of pride and shows professionalism to your customers!!!!👍💯🤘🤘

I own a pressure washing company here in Illinois. We pressure wash heavy equipment and restuarant hood systems. If you have any questions on your washer ask away. I've built and rebuilt MANY of hot water washers. You need to get the charging system fixed. Even a little low voltage will fry the transformer that makes the spark to ignite the fuel in the burner. Could be the voltage regulator or the stator. It's very easy to check and isolate the issue and fix it. Id gladly walk ya thru it, if you'd like.

@@DieselCreek One thing we do here is paint around all the grease nipples in a contrasting colour. If it's a hidden fitting, paint an arrow as near as you can that's visible. Number each fitting, and paint the total somewhere obvious (e.g. if there's 31 grease nipples paint T31 wherever you choose). On this dozer I'd suggest next to the seat or on the side near the lift cylinder mount.
Then when you go to grease her, you can count them all off so you don't miss any: "Damnit, where IS #17 on this thing?"

I’m a good 50 over that, got out my 3000 psi washer, stood up on the top step, that is clearly marked do not stand...and turned on the washer...I went flying one way, the ladder went the other and my shoes straight up in the air, busted up my right need pretty good, yep, I’m a Darwin Award Nominee for 2020.

The hot water/steam is the real magic in cleaning over a straight power washer to remove oil and grease throughly. While regular power washer will clean 95% of oil, grease, grime, and dirt they tend to smear grease and oil on the final passes. I would recommend greasing every zerk fitting while they are so clean and to purge any water out.

one more thing,,, I owned a pressure washing business for a long time,, diesel fuel in a garden sprayer is the best degreaser, spray lightly until it will not soak in , let set overnight if possible ,spray one more time let set for a little while and go for it.. just a little soap will stop the grease from re-sticking, hope this helps..

A small thought for the back of your mind, most bully fires are caused by a build up of grease oil and diesel combined with dirt lying in the belly pan under the engine. we used to have to remove the pans from the bullies and the skidders every month, but that was in the bush// the woods. Run them up onto 2 logs then crawl under with a jack and drop the pan. We used to shackle the winch cable to a tree and run the rope all the way out to the last few raps then lightly oil the cables and reseat them on the drum every month (don't know if you know about it, but that cable has a wick, that needs oiling, to keep the cable lubed. Helps extend the life of the cable,, helps against rust and goes a long way to help with sprags) just don't over do it, and get oil in the winch brake We greased the machines every week. Wonder just how long since your one was cleaned and serviced before you bought it. But that was the 60s when machines had to last.

    • @DieselCreek
      @DieselCreek 4 ปีที่แล้ว

The belly pan on this is clean, I looked when I changed the oil last. Also the cable is pretty well trained to wind up like the mess you see, that was that way when I got it. It’s plenty strong for my needs but would be replaced if I were going to do anything serious with it. It does need oiled for sure

Get a rotary nozzle for your steam cleaner. You will cut your cleaning time way down. It also doesn't blow water back at you as bad. I like to do a hot rinse then apply purple cleaner at 50% cut using a garden pump sprayer. Let it soak a few and give it hot wash. I professionally cleaned large fleets of equipment for while and this method worked best for me. Make sure you match the rotary nozzle to your machines gpm. Should be on the data tag. Good Luck!

Pressure washer is made by Easy Kleen out of New Brunswick, Canada. Magnum Gold is their 12v burner model. I think they separated the name Easy Kleen from Magnum so now they just say Magnum on the side, but it is all Easy Kleen. Also, I would definitely recommend buying a rotating nozzle. Will cut your cleaning times by several factors, the water won't splash back at you, and cleaning upg rease will be much faster, unlike the fan nozzles. They're a bit spendy but totally worth it.

You do this a lot, flipping iron, etc.
Find a spot near but away from your compound that is DOWNSTREAM from the compound and build yourself a washrack 12 ish feet wide and 30 ish feet long with a gentle slope into the river or a settleing pond, line it with your road cloth, fill it with large gravel, so you have a good draining place to work then up streem of that run an intake into the river, next time you see a huge tank at the auction ... buy it. come the spring, fill er up. Then when you need it ... its there (think fire supression)
Now when you start on a peace of "new" iron
With the iron OFF THE RACK start with the under carriage, and the big grease globs.
Then as soon as the major globs are gone move onto the rack, and start at the roof, spray the hole thing down just so its wet, get a wobble head (turbo nozzle), and go for it.

Your Dozer is a very nice piece of equipment, it is easy to see that it was well cared for, it would sure help if you had inside storage for your equipment, when it is left out in the elements it won't take long for seats to go bad, tires get weather cracked, hydraulic hoses take a beating from the sun, the wiring gets damaged, paint fades weather checked and peals off, then rust. Animals also do damage to equipment left outdoors. I know you have to do things as finances permit, Rome was not built in a day. Take care.

Doing a prewash with the foam cannon attachment really cuts the oil , grease and slimy mud. It’s an easy attachment to your present set-up.

You need to have a dedicated wash bay with a solid floor and a drain.
You will also have to go over everything again with that spinning nozzle that
you got for that pressure washer. 😃

Run the pressure washer at least 75% idle to charge the battery, starting it doesn't use much power but the burner fan does. Fuel up before each use, and turn off the burner and run the pressure washer until the wand is cool enough to grab with a bare hand, everything will last a lot longer. They are Honda clone engines, impossible to find parts for from the manufacturer, but Honda parts fit. There's one sitting in our shop thats around 10 years old, ran fine till it dropped a valve seat and broke the valve, Honda parts to repair and its still running. Boss upgraded his personal shop one, the shop got the newer one identical to yours, the glass guy got ours, and we get motor grader windows for another season or two 😁.
