    I replaced a Lucid with the EQS580 and love it. It’s hyperscreen is awesome as it impresses all passengers. My wife enjoys a personal control panel directly in front of her. Range is much greater than expected while driving in comfort mode and maximum recuperation. Last week it reported 459 mi at 100%.
    Some of it’s weaknesses are the nuisance start/stop button as the software should be smart enough to predict this. Also, there’s no automatic lock when walking away from vehicle. If you prefer max regen, you must select it every time vehicle is started. Regen and walk away lock should be in driver’s profile.

    I just did a test drive on EQS 450+ AMG Premiums today and it’s absolutely amazing. I can say the difference between EQE and EQS is same as E class and S class. As a chauffeur with EQS I can do First class and business class rides while with EQE I can only do business class rides. Obviously I will get higher rates on EQS in compare to EQE.

  • @astrofashionista

    Just chose the EQE of the EQS to have the interior specs I wanted….because they are so similar. Both are beautiful cars and I’m very happy with my choice so far.

    As an EQB owner, I have a question about the front light bar (which I assume operates similarly for the EQB EQC EQS) - when does the light bar turn on, is it only when it's particularly dark? I can't find anything about it in the manual.

  • @drfaizan

    Thank you for the comparison, i was searching for. However, why the info on MB website as well as most other if not all other vlogs I watched, claim 305 miles on EQS350+ (Sedan) and 350 miles on EQS450+ (sedan). However you mentioned 394 miles and 453 miles for these cars respectively? can you please clarify?

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries! So this depends when you live and the specs of the car, it varies massively.
      WLTP is used here in the UK for range tests, if you’re based in another country then another test may be used. Wheel sizes, spec on the car, climate of the country all are taken into effect when calculating range.

    • @drfaizan
      @drfaizan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@npolearyI live in the US, and this is so strange to have this much difference, the EQE does not even have hyper screen, which I learnt that is available on cars in other countries like UK

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know spec varies massively, the world has different tests for range based on where they’re sold.
      There’s WLTP, NEDC, EPA (I think US uses this) and CLTC.
      Wheel sizes affect the range too so the larger the wheel the more it has to turn round to complete a cycle which after a long time does add up to less miles overall.

      @stephenwensley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@npoleary Yes, the BMW is based on the conventional fuelled car, so comes with all the compromises of a car with different powerplants. The EQE & EQS are ground up electric designs allowing space to be maximised. The i4 is reportedly a very good drivers car, the AMG EQE a bit of a dead fish dynamically, but an excellent EV otherwise

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey print master, ah don’t worry all Electric cars have a warranty on them which on Mercedes can be either 8 years or 10 years depending on the model.
      I wouldn’t know the price of one but it’d be about the same price as an engine. Not that you’d have to replace it because it’s under warranty.
      Your local Mercedes dealership can provide the battery certificate if you’d like so you can have a read 🤓

    • @stephenwensley
      @stephenwensley 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most early fears about battery degradation haven’t come to pass, most people are seeing about a 10% degradation over time. A car that is always charged to a 100% on a rapid charger will suffer higher degradation, home AC charging and limiting rapid charging to be 80% tops up keeps the battery in the best condition.

The range is slightly less and I’ve noticed the wheels are different, also the front grill has Mercedes logos all over it, unlike the EQE 350+ which I assume is in your video.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey dr, yes there was a slight name change as it looked too close to the EQS.
      The battery is virtually the same, the previous was 90kWh where as the new one is 89kWh.
      It does though now have a whopping 10 year warranty on the high voltage battery where as before I believe it was 8 years.

  • @lauriemiles1842

    I'd assumed the EQE would be a step up from the EQC (which we currently own), but in fact the EQC is clearly a level up from the EQE - it has 4 wheel drive, better performance, light bar at the front, and all leather seats. The sunroof in the EQE goes farther back, though. I'm waiting for the EQE SUV & EQS SUV, but from seeing this video, I suspect the EQE SUV will be fine (although this is going to be awhile before it's released).

    • @pontusjacobsson2973

      Compared to a Base EQE 350 yes, but compare an EQE 500 4matic the EQC got nothing on it. I personally own the EQE and has driven the EQC many times and must say the EQC feels very, very unmodern compared to the EQE.

    • @Vrallie
      @Vrallie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I drove a EQC a couple of times and i own a EQE 350+ and i must say that the EQE blows the EQC out of the water. (range, driving comfort, overal specs). The EQE is built from scratch to be an electric car, where the EQC is a GLC with a battery in it.

    • @DeeSock
      @DeeSock 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      EQE saloon does have it's own advantages like equipped with better suspension and bean-shaped aerodynamics though compared EQC has no heat pump at the moment, fewer real switches if prefer those, worse headroom and worse calfroom in rear, takes up more space on the road, smaller boot opening, less birdseye view through windscreen as sit lower down, awkward charge port cap held on by string, has popup door handles if not prefer those

      EQS: th-cam.com/video/_19k2hlT6IA/w-d-xo.html
      WLTP is the efficiency test in Europe. It stands for Worldwide Harmonised Light-Vehicles Test Procedure. It just shows you how many Miles per Gallon / litres per km or the range of an Electric car is. In other countries like the USA I believe it's an EPA rating which is similar.

    • @stephenwensley
      @stephenwensley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hyperscreen isn’t perfect either, the angle means it is particularly subject to reflections and the software whilst not bad isn’t the snappiest on the market.
      WLTP is a figure that no-one will ever achieve in real life road conditions. The US’s EPA is often closer to what to expect, all the German cars tend to exceed their EPA ratings regularly. A good assumption is normally to expect 2/3s of the WLTP range in winter conditions

    A little missleading info. Some of the stuff you said as pluses for the EQS actually also comes on the EQE, but as optional extras. Like air suspension, double glazed windows, full leather seats etc. I know because I have those options on my EQE… also, you are looking at the base 300 model when comparing range to the EQS 450+ model which is the top of the line EQS in range. The the EQE 350+ have 410 miles (660km) range.
    And I also want to put in my personal opinion here: the EQE is big, but the EQS is massive. If you are looking at buying one of these cars, think about how big of a car you want as both these cars can be specified with almost the same luxury’s and if you get stuff like the air suspension and double glazed windows they will ride to 95% the same. I would say that the EQE is as good as the EQS, just a little smaller, but the boot, legroom and range is better on the EQS.
    Otherwise great video 👍

      @npoleary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Pontus, thank you! Glad you enjoyed most of it!
      I mentioned this in the description of the video, specs vary massively and you can upgrade the EQE with specs to make it similar.
      In the UK, you can only now order an EQE 300 or EQS 450+. I didn’t mention those numbers to hopefully not cause any confusion with viewers worldwide as there are multiple versions available in selected countries.
      Hope that makes sense!

    • @pontusjacobsson2973

      @@npoleary ahh, I understand. It just sounded in the video like it didn’t have it :) like the double glazed windows are options on both EQE and EQS, but sounded like they weren’t available at all in the video. Also, that they only offer the 300 atm is probably very temporary as we have 7 engine options here in Scandinavia, so they will probably soon come to the UK. But I’m nitpicking now. Keep up the good work! 🙌

    @jp6975 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nick, good comparison video but... one thing that might need a little clarification is which models you are comparing.
    Your initial price comparison shows the EQS as £102,000 (and some change) - but that is the base ('leasing') spec 450+ AMG Line version.
    The base model of the EQS doesn't have double glazing. It also does not have a light bar at the front. I don't think either of these are options that can be specified either.
    I think you have an EQS AMG Line Premium model or an EQS AMG Line Premium Plus one. Both are significantly more than the base model (at least £7K more and possibly up to £15K more).
    I have the EQS base model. It's an enormous car (inside and out). Space in the back is, frankly, overkill. I'm 5ft 10in and someone well over 6ft could sit very comfortably behind me. I'd say that for 99% of people the EQE is more than sufficient. It is still VERY roomy (I sat in one a couple of weeks ago).
    I'd have got the EQE but it just wasn't available in the month timeframe I had to get a car and, with hindsight, I should have have waited an extra 2 months for the EQE. The EQS is a good car - but there are quite a few aspects to it that certainly do not make it a £100K+ car. The EQE is basically a 'trimmed-length' EQS and the near-as-dammit £30K saving makes the 'faults' a bit more palatable.
    Keep up the good work with the videos!

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Jaimin!
      Yes the EQS shown here is standard for the UK, in all of my comparisons I try to avoid going into Premium / Premium Plus packages as they'll be different between model to model and round the world too in different countries. The EQS in this video doesn't have Digital Light or the 10° rear axle steering or the larger wheels which is found on Premium.
      I think I know what you mean though, in the UK currently on the Premium Plus Package you can order a thing called 'Acoustic privacy glass' which reduces sound even further but this one was just a standard one as it has the most efficient wheels.
      You're absolutely right though at the trimmed length EQS! It's essentially a smaller one!
      🤓
      Glad you love the videos! 👍🏼

    Interesting video. Both EQs look futuristic, but certain choices they offer for consumers seem outdated at best. Or perhaps they cater to a hesitant market taking their first step into the EV market.
    Take the panoramic roof. It sustains unnecessary heat in the cabin. And it compromises the car's structure. Why should you want it taking all modern science into account? And what about sustainable material choices? An EV with default leather seats: what's up with that?! So many premium alternatives exist these days, both similar to leather or not at all. Why still obsessing over leather? And please, get that piano black nonsense out of the way. This just looks tacky.
    The EQs could herald a more environmentally conscious future. Instead, they temper this promise with questionable standard design options.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jaffa, thank you!
      The choices of spec are relevant for the specific country they’re being sold in, so it can vary massively round the world. A lot of people want a panoramic roof here in the UK, it’s just one of those things that everyone asks for.
      In terms of sustainability, actually the EQE and EQS use extremely futuristic leather which are resource-efficient and are animal free. Believe it or not, they are also biodegradable.
      Mercedes have taken sustainability to a whole new level with EQE & EQS compared to other combustion engines they sell.
      You can read more about it here: group.mercedes-benz.com/company/magazine/sustainability/circular-economy.html

      It’s a tricky one and a fine balancing act. People have been asking for EV’s with long range for a while. And to achieve that (at the time of recording the EQS was one of the world’s best) they have to make the bodywork as slippery as possible and as curvey. Here’s proof:
      In 2024 the EQS can now go up to 481 miles! So better than when I made this video. This is with a 118kWh battery.
      The Electric G-Class though has a battery at 116kWh but the range is ONLY 285 miles.
      Probably because it is a square brick…it’s the least aerodynamic car out there.
      It’s a balancing act, and one manufacturers have to balance. But if they sway too far one way or the other then it can annoy in other areas like the design department.
      If not these, have you seen any EV’s that you like the look of?
