This concert was in 2013, and was to celebrate Su-Metal's 16th birthday. Girl 1: "So we all recently had our 16th birthday party. I had a party at home with all my friends. We played games and had a sleepover, how about you guys?" Girl 2: "My friends took me out for dinner, then we went to a movie, it was fun! How about you, Suzuka?" Su-Metal: "I performed a heavy metal concert, at the end of which I was put upon a cross by robed black-hooded figures, and crucified to be reborn as a Goddess of Metal, while 8,000 rabid fans chanted "DEATH" repeatidly." Girl 1 & 2: "..." backing away slowly
this was for Su, the lead singer, 16th birthday party. it was for her to be reborn to become a goddess but we consider her a Queen. most of the time this song was the opening but in this show it was the closing for the show.
It's pretty funny because if you discover them through Doki Doki or Gimme Chocolate, Death is the song you're greeted to when listening to the 1st album.
That has to be one of the best first reactions to BABYMETAL - great random choice for your first song ... oh I should probably say at this point #notacult May I explain a bit? Legend 1997 was the name of the show - it was in December 2013 celebrating the lead singer Su-metal's 16th birthday - she was born in 1997 (Yui and Moa were 14). They only crucify Su on special occasions - last time was for Legend S in 2017 for her 20th birthday. 'BABYMETAL Death' is the first track on the first album and it was usually played as the opening track (without the crucifixion) for their shows because it is simply them introducing themselves. On this occasion it was the finale. The Japanese word desu (the U is silent) sounds like the English word death - especially if you stick your tongue out slightly - but it means 'I am, you are, we are' etc. So the lyrics of the song are few - the crowd spells out "B-A-B-Y-M-E-T-A-L" and then the girls introduce themselves "Su-metal desu", "Yuimetal desu", "Moametal desu", "BABYMETAL desu" .... or "I am Su-metal", "I am Yuimetal", "Iam Moametal", "We are BABYMETAL" and then everybody chants "Death death death death death death" - like you do. They do love a nice pun or play on words ... and 'death' just sounds so metal how could they resist. Every song they do is different, so don't expect a crucifixion every time - do expect choreo and lots of energy along with great music and Su-metal's vocal skills. For your next song I think I would recommend 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 (so same show a couple of songs before this one), but you could pick any of the many recommendations I think you'll be getting or pretty much any other of their songs and you'll enjoy it. Some songs lean more towards their pop roots, others are good and heavy, none are the same and nearly all of them will surprise you in the best ways. Live BABYMETAL is always best although their official videos are also very good.
Hey guys! In addition to Legend-S streaming, today is the one year anniversary of the rebirth of the triangle on Yokohama Day 1. I forgot that ! Oh! my!
@@flugelhornoldman1362 * Raises hand * I have questions. Can you explain for those of us who are on the newer side and maybe haven't seen or heard of that?
@@mr.osclasses5054 He's talking about the "triangle formation" (3 dancers on stage). It's been one year since they introduced the "Avengers" (Kano, Momoko and Riho). For Babymetal's 2018 tour, there were 4 dancers on stage (Su-metal, Moametal + 2 backup dancers).
@@mr.osclasses5054 Many thanks for your question from Japan 有難う💛。 Long story short : ◆BABYMEAL (BM) started approx.10 years ago with three original members (Su, Yui and Moa) Please refer to : th-cam.com/video/YXKjg81JBhg/w-d-xo.html ◆After extensive international success, a big event was planned to commemorate Su's 20-year-old birthday in her birth place, Hiroshima, in December 2017 ◆In that concert, Yui unfortunately did not show up due to health problem. That is the event which was streamed yesterday (June 28, 2020) ◆ Yui's absence was not temporary. She never returned to the stage and ultimately quit BM in October 2018 without enough explanation to fandom.〔The Original Triangle was gone〕 ◆ 2018 was called "Dark Side" year and the performance was done by only Su-Metal and Moameal with help of several support dancers who changed from time to time. BM's outfit and make-up was drastically changed. Not Kawaii (cute) any longer but something like in battle appearance. Allegedly, many fan left BM with some disappointment. ◆ After certain interval, new 2 concerts were announced. No one knows what those shows were going to be like. Another dark side? or totally different style? ◆ June 28, 2019 in Yokohama Japan, the Day 1 show started with three girls ! Su, Moa and ・・・Who the hell was the 3rd girl ? But this new formation was enthusiastically welcome. BM regained Kawaisa (cuteness) and more importantly added some charms of grownup ladies. The 3rd girl was just a support dancer chosen form 3 performers called "Avengers". No one knows who will be summoned for each show. But the 3 girls are fixed. They are officially unnamed but everybody now knows they are Riho, Kano and Momoko, with good entertainment background. All fan rejoiced at this 〔Birth of New Triangle〕. This is the meaning of June 28. And yesterday's event was not coincident, I am sure. Each avenger shows up on stage one by one with Su and Moa to form triangle. But in exceptional case, Su, Moa and 3 Avengers performed all together. If you are interested in it, please refer to this 12 minutes video. You will see a stark contrast between 2-girl formation and a pentagon being full of joy : vimeo.com/420939849 Sorry for this lengthy explanation and glitches in my English language.
Something to add to your point. I made this observation in another video somewhere in the bowels of TH-cam but since you mentioned their introductions... I'll put it here as well. Death of course is a double entendre of both Death(Metal) and Desu (I am/We are). Seeing BABYMETAL in concert is not just a performance. It is an experience. The audience itself spells out B-A-B-Y-M-E-T-A-L and then the girls shout who they are with "__-desu". We as an audience cry "Death/Desu" in return. As a collective, we are shouting "I am!/We are!", only to have the girls reply with "BABYMETAL-DESU". When we are in one of their performances, we're actively participating in their show. They feed off us and we feed off of them. For these two hours we are not white or black, male or female, gay or straight. It's an all-inclusive event that pushes the boundaries of who we think we are. We are simply... BABYMETAL!
"Who is that!" Only the Fox God knows... Actually, at least in part, it was the audience spelling out BABYMETAL. Great reaction to the other end of the WTF spectrum that is BABYMETAL! This concert was on Suzuka Nakamoto's, the girl getting crucified, 16th birthday (born in 1997) which transformed her from a J-pop Idol, to Su-metal, Goddess & Queen of Metal. Which is as per the Legend you translated for us - arigatou! Also, 'BABYMETAL DEATH' is actually a play on words. The girls in BABYMETAL, Su-metal, Moametal, & Yuimetal, are actually introducing themselves. The Japanese word 'Desu' is pronounced with a silent 'u', & the 's' between the teeth, which can sound like 'death'. Desu actually means "I am", "we are". So, Su-metal desu = "I am Su-metal", BABYMETAL desu = "We are BABYMETAL". Consider yourself (somewhat) enlightened! THE ONE will be along soon to further your education. Until then, MORE BABYMETAL PLEASE! 🦊🤘
." John Campbell (Lamb of God) said in 2016: "Quit wasting time hating. Heavy Metal is forever growing, Babymetal is just one facet. One adorable facet!!" Instead, we still get "I'm so Metal that I'm threatened by 3 cute little Japanese girls." Wah... Go away, troll.
BABYMETAL Death for a first time reaction? Are you kidding me? Not the usual thing but it worked so well with you. Good job!!! I really enjoyed your reaction video, you looked soooo into it and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Today I watched her last crucifixion at Legend S so I've watched them all finally. By the way... #notacult hehehe... See you next time!
⚡ 💀 💕 / 💀 💀 💀 @Grington300 300 did a great job explaining this song, and the desu/death play on words, so I won't repeat any of that. BABYMETAL's lead singer, Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su) has been crucified five times now. At Legend D, Legend Z, this Legend 1997 concert, at Tokyo Dome, and at Legend S. Six times if you count both of the Legend S shows. At this concert, it was the day after her 16th birthday. The two younger original members, Yui and Moa, have been crucified only once, at Tokyo Dome. I've told this story many times, but I saw BABYMETAL open for Korn & Stone Sour in Chula Vista, CA back in 2017. The concert was on Yui's Birthday (June 20th). There were Korn fans on either side of me, who were expecting something called BABYMETAL to be pretty mellow. They opened with 'BABYMETAL Death'. The look of shock was just about worth the price of admission by itself. : )
Hey guys! In addition to Legend-S streaming, today is the one year anniversary of the rebirth of the triangle on Yokohama Day 1. I forgot that ! Oh! my!
Heads up, she's filming something new and asking for votes of content. Babymetal is one of the choices. Do your civic duty and vote here: th-cam.com/users/postUgzrXrMekQWwsT5il0x4AaABCQ
Wow normally I wouldn’t suggest this as first Babymetal song, but seems it was perfect for you:) Babymetal Desu (silent U ) means we are Babymetal and this song was normally played as the intro for the band at their shows without the crucifixion. They know it sounds like Babymetal Death in English so they play on that a little. This performance was for Su-Metal’s 16th birthday concert and was done as the finale to that show.Loved watching you react to this.I hope you check out more, but avoid Gimme Chocolate lol that one is at the other extreme of what they do, Maybe try Awadama Fever that one is written as a F*** you to the haters that called them bubblegum metal so they made a song as heavy as f*** about time travelling bubblegum.
Maybe that's what Rob Zombie looking for???!!! BABYMETAL!!! Well Done! No matter which "First Song" people react to BM, either is Gimme' Choc, RoR, IINE, BM Death, Headbangeeerrr, IDZ or any other, it just give a surprise to each one & that's some sort (of course not all) of beauty & secret of BABYMETAL.
I have been following BABYMETAL reactions for a while now, almost 2 years, and almost never follow anyone unless they are reacting to BABYMETAL, however it was different for you. I began following you when you reacted to Angelina Jordan and it made you cry. I fell in love with you right then and there. For you to pick BABYMEATL DEATH as your first reaction to them, just made me love you even more (I usually wouldn't even recommend this video until someone has some of their other songs under their belt, but it was the perfect entry point for you!). My favorite band by far is BABYMETAL, There is so much history, so much lore and so much good music ahead of you that your heart is just going to burst, you are in for surprise after surprise with them and I can't wait to watch you filled with the joy that only this band can bring. My suggestion for your next song is BABYMETAL - HEADBANGER, Legend 1997 Makuhari Messe th-cam.com/video/nOZ_2WNwhG0/w-d-xo.html Welcome to The One. Kitsune Dao!
Most girls: For my 16th birthday I had a party with a few friends and got loads of gifts I really didn't want or need. Su-metal: For my 16th Birthday I was crucified as a sacrifice to an unseen entity known as the Fox God in front of a giant maiden statue, whilst being watched by thousands of people, some druids, a metal band and 2 of my closest friends.
Here are 5 songs to check out among the many they have done. Headbanger th-cam.com/video/YjjWZpf_jSs/w-d-xo.html Road of Resistance th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html Pa Pa Ya th-cam.com/video/oO7Y8NsnkRg/w-d-xo.html iine th-cam.com/video/qVdBBOpSoN4/w-d-xo.html Megitsune th-cam.com/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/w-d-xo.html If you check these songs out you can see just how diverse their songs are with their mixing of different genres of music with metal.
You are so about to tumble down a very deep and twisty foxhole (you'll learn why I say foxhole instead of rabbit hole soon enough) that few ever return from the same. Just wait until you hear lead singer Su-Metal actually sing. Your mind will be blown into pieces. You're going to have an awesome time. Enjoy the ride!
Ive seen Babymetal before and liked them a lot. When I saw your selection that I never heard of, I didn't really know what to think. Thank you so much for choosing this one because this is one of my favorite moments being on TH-cam. That epic performance, your reaction and me picking my jaw off the floor. On the fourth of July with fireworks going off behind me at that. This is one of those moments I am so glad to be alive!!!! Thank you!
I've spent the last couple of hours in this "reaction to Babymetal" TH-cam rabbit-hole, and this is the best one I've seen...probably because it best matched my initial reaction.
I know people tend to recommend Chocolate, but that song can turn people off because it's more poppy. Now this is the proper way to get into BABYMETAL. The theatrics, the three girls controlling that stage, and Kami Band just killing it.
It's so hard to tell if you liked the video or not.... I'm kidding.. That was great!!! I love reactions like yours. It makes songs I have seen many times seem all shiny and new again. :)
Love the genuine reaction to this amazing band! I, myself, am just getting into them. I've known the name of the band for years, but never really gave it any attention until yesterday. I literally spent 9 hour straight watching all their videos and catching up on who this band is and their history and stuff. Now I'm watching all the reaction videos for all their songs, and your reaction video is one of the better ones! Thanks for being bad-ass. Rock on!
If you don't know about Babymetal's lore, it can be surprising for sure LOL. But keep watching their videos, there's a lot more and they're now known all around the world now. Don't forget Legend S Baptism XX today !
Over 2 years later, this is still tops in my pantheon of most authentic, mind blown reaction ever. We should get a compilation of these types pf reactions... those that you can watch a hundred times and still feel like you are watching it for the first time.
I loved your reaction , Now you need to follow this up by reacting to Headbangerrrr from the same concert . The Legend of 1997 . And then maybe Road of resistance live in Japan . But whatever Babymetal song you choose , it's always best watching the live version . They are truly one of a kind and always great .
I did NOT expect this to be a first ever reaction to BABYMETAL! First, awesome reaction and glad you loved it. Second, how many bands/groups do you know of who will crucify their lead singer on stage in front of 20K people? Third, #notacult! Finally, as others have said, this is their most metal moment, but not their hardest song. Keep in mind that most of their stuff isn't like this, it is far more pop and metal infusion, or as they call it "Kawaii" metal (meaning cute metal). They are incredibly talented and I hope you check out more!
there is some word-game here, during the song that demonic voice spells B-A-B-Y-M-E-T-A-L and then the girls say their names, Su, Yui and Moa, and add "metaru-death" after. metaru is just metal in japanese, in Japan they don't have a "th" sound, so it sounds like "desu", which means "i am", so basically they're saying, "i am ____-METAL", and then BEBIMETARU-DEATH (we are BABYMETAL). this concert was on the 16th birthday of SU-METAL, that's why the crucifixion and all that stuff. Today at 9PM (japan time) they're gonna stream a 2017 concert called LEGEND S (the S stands for SU-METAL) and it was on 20th birthday of SU-METAL. Sadly, YUI-METAL couldn't attemp to this concert due to an unknown ill, in this concert they perform this song and SU-METAL says YUI-METAL'S name for her, and also it's the last time we get to see Mikio Fujioka, the guitarist on the left, due to injuries by falling of an observation platform while stargazing. In october 19th, 2018, YUI-METAL leaves the group due to this unknown ill, and in the same day, BABYMETAL releases a tribute song to Mikio called "Starlight".
That was awesome. I have never seen anyone react to that as their first Babymetal song. That is their most Metal performance. But not their heaviest song that is Sis Anger. They have quite a few very heavy songs. But they are a pop-metal fusion. They have more poppy songs too. Even 1 pure rock ballad. But they have 50+ songs they're entitled to one ballad.
Hahaha I never saw anyone starting with Babymetal with Babymetal Death 🤣 That is starting the hard way sure, this stuff is for when you are pretty deep in the Foxhole. btw, great video, you go to my list of BM reactors, hope you enjoy your travel with more Babymetal. Try to follow the recommendations of our fellow kitsunes around to enjoy the travel. But nothing Babymetal has done is so weird as this. They are a bunch of talented and skilled people doing the best shows and heavy metal, but I think this is the most extreme performance they did. Well maybe "In the name of" at Legend S show, but that act is not here on TH-cam to react.
Your reaction was priceless! All our 16th Birthday parties should have been this awesome! This band covers a lot of ground and styles, with a metal base. If you check other songs out, you will be continually surprised. The band is awesome too!
You should try watching their Road Of Resistance live video, gives me the chills every time i watch it, and watching them live is 10x as breath taking as you could imagine
This concert was in 2013, and was to celebrate Su-Metal's (the lead singer) 16th birthday. Girl 1: "So we all recently had our 16th birthday party. I had a party at home with all my friends. We played games and had a sleepover, how about you guys?" Girl 2: "My friends took me out for dinner, then we went to a movie, it was fun! How about you, Suzuka?" Su-Metal: "I performed a heavy metal concert, at the end of which I was put upon a cross by robed black-hooded figures, and crucified to be reborn as a Goddess of Metal, while 8,000 rabid fans chanted "DEATH" repeatidly." Girl 1 & 2: "..." *backing away slowly*
Babymetal do a lot of strange and bizarre things sometimes. But this one have a comercial purpose behind, maybe a little complicated to explain but i´m gonna try, even english aren´t my first language Babymetal is more a "Metal spectacle" more than a metal group, but all things have an origin, and the origin of Babymetal was the bizarre idea of a producer in an idol program with little girls. The producer, Key Kobayashi is a metalhead but also works in AMUSE, the producers behind some idol groups in Japan. Among them is "Sakura Gakuin", an idol program with little girls who mimics a japanese school. In the idol system, thousands of candidates goes to auditions to be in those programs, and the ones who got inside have a short time to build a career. In Sakura Gakuin the girls must left the group when they finish secondary education (yes, they must go also to normal school and they must got good grades also). When a girl reach in this program about 16 years, around the age when the japanese ends secondary, they have a "graduation" and left the group. Some of them can continue her career in other groups, in TV, music groups, etc. A lot simply returns to normal life, maybe go to university, got a degree, etc... (Sukuka´s older sister do this). But because the singer of Babymetal Suzuka was in Sakura Gakuin, and Babymetal was a subunit of Sakura Gakuin they must do something to "change" from the old group to the new one, and this performance was created. The "legendary" neck protector is a tribute to Yoshiki, the founder, composer and drummer of X-Japan, a legendary metal band in Japan. Babymetal do a lot of tributes and references to this group, maybe because it´s the favorite of her producer or because really X-Japan was really the big metal band of all the times and all people in Japan knows about X-Japan. Babymetal are on the stages for 10 years now, the girls starts in Babymetal at a very short age, now the two remaining of the 3 are 21 and 22 years old, so make your math and yes... they start doing metal with 11 and 12 years only
Introducing one's self never sounded so metal till the Babymetal girls did it in Japanese. That's it, I'm even farther in love with the Japanese language.
We usually reserve Death or when people are further along the foxhole because of its shock value. I'm glad it made you happy rather than make you turn away. Death was the standard opening to their show before Yui-Metal left. It doesn't always include a crucifiction of our metal goddess, but when she turns 16 you have to pull out all the stops of course. It's probably one of the hardest songs they do, but it'll leave you with no doubt that these three young girls are 100% metal.
Awesome choice for a first Babymetal experience haha. This is one of their heaviest songs and most people usually start with more "cutsie" ones (not badmouthing, Love BM :D), and even with the girls hardly speaking or singing in this, this is an awesome performance! Guess Headbanger or Rondo of Nightmare (with the mischief gods intro) have to be the next ones :D
Love the reaction! Seems like you really lucked out with the right song to start with. For more BABYMETAL try to stick with live videos. Their studio stuff is OK, but they are definitely a band that sounds better live with an audience to sing along with them. All their songs are really different, you'll never quite know what to expect. Welcome! #notacult
Usually people start with Gimme Chocolate to get into Babymetal but hey Death is a heavy start. But first, I need to remind you to put your expectations away for each Babymetal song. They have different styles of metal execution but it worked. If you're into more heavy stuff you should check out In The Name Of, Sis Anger, GJ and From Dusk Till Dawn. That last one is a bit metal dubstep but it's freaking sick and cool.
You happened to pick probably the hardest BABYMETAL video out there - so well done you for reacting well and not getting all crazy Christian indignant and making stupid off hand comments like "this is just wrong" and "this is devil worship." Nice reaction. Anyway, in my opinion, BABYMETAL has easily been one of the more interesting things happening in metal in the last 5 or 6 years. Those that rip on the band make a variety of emotional arguments with no basis in rationality, as all criticisms by elitist types are easily provably false. The only valid criticism that anyone can have is simply that they don't like BABYMETAL as a listener, which of course is completely based on individual taste. For my taste though, BABYMETAL rules. They have a current catalog of three full length albums, all of which are good, Their newest, Metal Galaxy, is my favorite, as it is the most eclectic release of theirs so far, and it showcases the growth that this band has made over the last few years. Also, the quality of the musicianship of the Kami Band is top shelf, and Su-Metal's voice melds very well with the music, delivering uncharacteristic yet excellent vocals. Additionally, many of their tracks sound completely different from one another - which is a quality I completely appreciate. Some people criticize them for not having a traditional metal sound, but that is just a stupid argument in my opinion, because why in the hell would you want a band to sound the same as 1,000 other bands whose albums you could already go buy if you love a generic sound so much? Anyway, finally, BABYMETAL is legendary for putting on some of the funnest and best live shows around - and I can attest to the truth of this, as I've seen them a few times. By the way, the Legend 1997 show is already over 5 or so years old, so, while I would definitely recommend checking out some more of their older stuff, I would also recommend checking out some of their newer stuff too. A solid mix would be Rondo of Nightmare from their Budokan performance, Headbangeeeeer!! from the same Legend 1997 show as their "Death" clip, a fan cam of their performance of BxMxC (I think there's a good one online that someone took in Sweden), their official "Megitsune" video, a 4K fan clip of them performing "Kagerou," maybe also a fan clip of them performing Oh! MAJINAI on a recent tour, and of course their official Road if Resistance Live in Japan clip. Anyway, welcome to the foxhole - it's deep and hella fun. Enjoy.
This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill-the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill-you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the FOX hole goes.
Wow, never seen anyone going straight for "Death". Very cool. It's unfortunate that you didn't go for a song in which you can see their immense talent (well, you got a glimpse of the Kami Band's talent), but it's very fortunate that you loved this performance so much. Death was their opener for many shows when Yui (one of the 2 smaller girls) was still in the group. Nowadays it doesn't get played anymore because of new intro songs and, of course, because it says "Yui-Metal desu" (I am Yui-Metal) in the "lyrics". Last time we got to witness it was on Suzuka's (the lead singer) 20th birthday concert Legend S and was followed by an epic performance of The One, where she was reborn once again. A lot was already said about this show. Another thing was, there were a lot of "Death & Rebirth" metaphors going on at this show (Legend 1997, Su's 16th birthday show). From Neon Genesis Evangelion covers, to the opening with a "techno" version of Headbanger on playback to show where she came from, to this crucifiction, etc. Which was a metaphor for crucifying her idol persona and being reborn as a metal goddess. The neckbrace is by the way a hommage to X Japan, whose Drummer needs to wear a neckbrace at live shows because he damaged his neck while headbanging. The opening of the song, as well as the statue in the background are hommages to Metallica. Insert recommendation a lot of people already wrote in other comments ;)
This "song" is the opening track of their 2014 released self-titled debut album. At this point, they already existed for almost four years. "BABYMETAL DEATH" served as an opener for their live shows for years. However, this particular performance was the show-closer for their "Legend 1997 - SU-METAL Seitansai" show (played in December 2013 at Makuhari Messe Hall). They are celebrating their 10th anniversary later this year and have released several live DVDs/Blu-Rays, live albums, and two more studio albums ("Metal Resistance" in 2016 and "Metal Galaxy" in 2019) over the years. Now you know Why Rob Zombie is a Fan of Babymetal and why he defended them as 'Metal' when all of the "Elitests" were putting them down in the early days. Hell, what's more Metal than being Crucified on your 16th Birthday in front of your two little friends and the Teaming Masses with Doom Metal playing under a crumbling statue of the Virgin Mary??? And how Metal was any of ya'lls 16th Birthay!?! LoL!!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Gotta say, I've always enjoyed this BABYMETAL performance, but I just watched your reaction all the way through (4th time in less than 20 hours, #notastalker), because seeing it through your eyes was so much fun! Thank you for that. 🦊🤘
Yessss! I'm not sure which I love more - this incredible video by my very fav band or your wonderfully authentic reaction! I have watched it now 5 times (& counting) in a row.... thank you Deadgirl Superstar - you fkn rock!
Very good reaction! BABYMETAL is a very special band indeed. I think for you, personally, _BABYMETAL DEATH_ (especially from the 'Legend 1997' show) was a good starting point and introduction to them as it affirms that they are undoubtedly metal. However a possible drawback (for lack of a better word) to this choice is that this track, as good as it is instrumentally, is not representative of BABYMETAL's music in general. More specifically it lacks a _major_ aspect of the "BABYMETAL sound", namely the vocals/singing, which not only work incredibly well in contrast with the heavy music (IMO) but also is part of what makes their sound so unique. Their performance of _Road of Resistance_ Live in Japan th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html would be a great follow up reaction, but there are many other suggestions in the comments that are good as well. Definitely hope you continue to enjoy them as much as we do.
God so many people overlook this one, what a way to start a Babymetal journey, I felt like an outsider until now because this is my favorite Babymetal performance, not that many people react to it like others, don't get me wrong the others are good too, but after I watched this one I had to find a quiet place for about 30 minutes to process what I had seen. This reminds me of the time I first seen Nightwish on youtube, that was the live performance of the The Poet and the Pendullum, I am still processing that one, and I first seen that over a year ago... Why don't you just jump into that one, Deadgrl, while you are at it?l lol... Thanks for bringing back that memory, Deadgrl, great reaction!
Great random choice for a first experience. Nice to see an emotional reaction, looks like you 'get it', straight off the bat. Reminded me a bit of the reaction: Chair Dancing w/BJ REACTION| BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)
I know how it feel.. same as you. This one is my most favourite video among all metal stuffs in TH-cam.. and Babymetal is full of suprises.. continue to react to them yea.. 🤘🤘
babymetal is always this high-energy, tho they're usually more pop-friendly. i strongly recommend reacting to more of their stuff! they've been around ten years now, and there's a huge amount of diversity in their music and choreography. also, su-metal, the lead singer, has an amazing voice. "babymetal death" is one of the songs that doesn't really show it off.
It is not really a crucifixion, but an exorcism. The singer is possessed by "metal", and the collar represents the symbol.. of those who listen to metal music and shake their heads quickly up and down and hurt their neck... she is not crucified, but tied to the cross for exorcism, and brought in front of Vergin Mary, but her metal abduction is stronger
Then they start the concert. The neck brace refers to the drummer/primary song writer for X Japan the best metal band you never heard of. He had hurt his neck head banging badly, that his doctors made him wear the neck brace. Suggestion Headbanger th-cam.com/video/2IzR_ClTE8Y/w-d-xo.html Official MV or th-cam.com/video/I2vuKOmd1js/w-d-xo.html Live performance.
Haha, that was entertaining! #NOTACULT You might get a bit of a wrong idea of BABYMETAL by starting with this song, though. The band fuses Metal with J-Pop to create a genre called Kawaii (=cute) Metal. They set out to make Metal more accessible to a broader demography, so they usually have catchy choruses etc. Almost all of their songs are full of positivity, which you might not think after watching this. But that‘s another BABYMETAL feature: No two songs sound the same, and you always have to expect the unexpected. If you‘d like to see more, my recommendation would be a song called „Headbanger“: th-cam.com/video/rNNL8OPKPzs/w-d-xo.html. (Seems like the Version from Makuhari Messe I intended to link has disappeared from TH-cam, so I chose Budokan instead. If anyone has a working link to the former, please add)
Babymetal Death as the first reaction? Oh my days. You've already reach the ocean floor. My friends, who are bm fans, didn't even know this performance existed. :) good shit
The following quotes pretty much says it all about BABYMETAL...… These two gentlemen got a lot of hate when they supported OUR BABYMETAL.. Rob Zombie said in 2014: "Hey they are nice kids out on the road touring. What are you doing besides being a grumpy old fuck?" "They roll harder than you." "These three girls had more energy than 90 percent of the bands we play with." John Campbell (Lamb of God) said in 2016: "Quit wasting time hating. Heavy Metal is forever growing, Babymetal is just one facet. One adorable facet!!" Instead, we still get "I'm so Metal that I'm threatened by 3 cute little Japanese girls." Wah... Go away, troll.
I know it has been out for quite a while, at this point. But great reaction, anyway. I know that you may have posted other Babymetal videos since, that were likely blocked, but I am glad you got to experience them. I figured you would like this one. lol
Welcome to the Babymetal rabbit hole (aka.fox hole) 😉. We've been waiting for you. 🤘😁🤘 If you're into reacting to more, there are SO MANY great songs... Gimme Chocolate, Megitsune, Road Of Resistance, iine, Karate, Sis Anger, BxMxC, Shine, etc. Cheers from Vancouver, BC, Canada 🇨🇦
Great reaction, girl :) I hope react to more Babymetal song - every different each other but unique. "Don`t think - feel" - this is how to watch BBM art. My suggestion is "Doki Doki Morning" official MV to see how is starting BBM. And one more suggestion - try Batmetal. You will loved it - guarantee :)))
This concert was in 2013, and was to celebrate Su-Metal's 16th birthday.
Girl 1: "So we all recently had our 16th birthday party. I had a party at home with all my friends. We played games and had a sleepover, how about you guys?"
Girl 2: "My friends took me out for dinner, then we went to a movie, it was fun! How about you, Suzuka?"
Su-Metal: "I performed a heavy metal concert, at the end of which I was put upon a cross by robed black-hooded figures, and crucified to be reborn as a Goddess of Metal, while 8,000 rabid fans chanted "DEATH" repeatidly."
Girl 1 & 2: "..." backing away slowly
this was for Su, the lead singer, 16th birthday party. it was for her to be reborn to become a goddess but we consider her a Queen. most of the time this song was the opening but in this show it was the closing for the show.
Reacting to BABYMETAL DEATH first is really jumping headfirst into the deep end of the BABYMETAL pool lol
you are so right lol. :D
It's pretty funny because if you discover them through Doki Doki or Gimme Chocolate, Death is the song you're greeted to when listening to the 1st album.
That has to be one of the best first reactions to BABYMETAL - great random choice for your first song ... oh I should probably say at this point #notacult
May I explain a bit?
@@mr.osclasses5054 Many thanks for your question from Japan 有難う💛。 Long story short :
◆BABYMEAL (BM) started approx.10 years ago with three original members (Su, Yui and Moa) Please refer to : th-cam.com/video/YXKjg81JBhg/w-d-xo.html
◆After extensive international success, a big event was planned to commemorate Su's 20-year-old birthday in her birth place, Hiroshima, in December 2017
◆In that concert, Yui unfortunately did not show up due to health problem. That is the event which was streamed yesterday (June 28, 2020)
◆ Yui's absence was not temporary. She never returned to the stage and ultimately quit BM in October 2018 without enough explanation to fandom.〔The Original Triangle was gone〕
◆ 2018 was called "Dark Side" year and the performance was done by only Su-Metal and Moameal with help of several support dancers who changed from time to time.
You will see a stark contrast between 2-girl formation and a pentagon being full of joy : vimeo.com/420939849
Sorry for this lengthy explanation and glitches in my English language.
BABYMETAL!
That, is Su. A metal Goddess!
Maybe, even, The metal Goddess!
All hail the fox goddess
Welcome to the Babymetal cult birthday party lol u won't really see anything like this with to many groups especially one this yiung
All hail to our Goddess 🤘🏻🐗🤘🏻
Also a teenager at this show
"Who is that!" Only the Fox God knows...
🦊🤘
I love Rob’s reply to a fan of his who was criticizing him for posing for a picture with Babymetal: “They roll harder than you.”
." John Campbell (Lamb of God) said in 2016: "Quit wasting time hating. Heavy Metal is forever growing, Babymetal is just one facet. One adorable facet!!" Instead, we still get "I'm so Metal that I'm threatened by 3 cute little Japanese girls." Wah... Go away, troll.
Just your average sweet 16 in Japan.
Usually people wait a little before reacting to BabyMetal - Death, where do we go now? Next Sis Anger, Rondo of Nightmare, or Distortion BxMxC?
I vote for "Rondo of Nightmare" (of course) and BxMxC!
Really interesting first choice. Not many are ready for Babymetal Death until 3 or more videos.
It is a great Birthday party!
BxMxC just kill it as a start...
Def Sis. Anger and hold off for a while on newer stuff.
@@Dragonstar-Metal it is BEST Birthday party!
Hi. Welcome Babymetal Galaxy!
Appreciate it a lot! One of the best reaction for this song.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 💀 💀 💀
@Grington300 300 did a great job explaining this song, and the desu/death play on words, so I won't repeat any of that.
Do your civic duty and vote here:

Yesss...we need more people to suggest Awadama Fever to the YT reactors. It has such an insanely heavy breakdown. It's grown on me a lot.
@@AlanG512 I really love Starlight, Shine and Arkadia those aren't covered much by reactors either, IDK why? they are really good songs
My suggestion for your next song is BABYMETAL - HEADBANGER, Legend 1997 Makuhari Messe th-cam.com/video/nOZ_2WNwhG0/w-d-xo.html
Welcome to The One.
Kitsune Dao!
Great suggestion! Headbanger was my entry point to BM.
This one has better sound :

Most girls: For my 16th birthday I had a party with a few friends and got loads of gifts I really didn't want or need.
Su-metal: For my 16th Birthday I was crucified as a sacrifice to an unseen entity known as the Fox God in front of a giant maiden statue, whilst being watched by thousands of people, some druids, a metal band and 2 of my closest friends.
my 16th birthday was twilight themed, I’m embarrassed now because of Su-metal hahaha
Here are 5 songs to check out among the many they have done.
Headbanger th-cam.com/video/YjjWZpf_jSs/w-d-xo.html
Road of Resistance th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.html

Megitsune th-cam.com/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/w-d-xo.html
If you check these songs out you can see just how diverse their songs are with their mixing of different genres of music with metal.
No rabbit hole. The Foxhole. Metal Galaxy.
That was just the beginning there is so much more to Babymetal than that.
I know people tend to recommend Chocolate, but that song can turn people off because it's more poppy.
Now this is the proper way to get into BABYMETAL. The theatrics, the three girls controlling that stage, and Kami Band just killing it.
Welcome to Kawaii Metal - I just found it to, especially Babymetal. Makes me happy. I´m usually depressed. This is my pill right now.
It's so hard to tell if you liked the video or not.... I'm kidding.. That was great!!! I love reactions like yours. It makes songs I have seen many times seem all shiny and new again. :)
My 16th birthday was nothing like this!! This is where SU-METAL became our GODDESS QUEEN and an IDOL LEGEND.
Rock on!
So, this was SU celebrating her 16th birthday :)
If you don't know about Babymetal's lore, it can be surprising for sure LOL. But keep watching their videos, there's a lot more and they're now known all around the world now. Don't forget Legend S Baptism XX today !
Just watched legend s, an ordered the bluray...damn amazing show
Over 2 years later, this is still tops in my pantheon of most authentic, mind blown reaction ever. We should get a compilation of these types pf reactions... those that you can watch a hundred times and still feel like you are watching it for the first time.
welcome to the world of babymetal.
We are babymetal.
Rich Dandanell I agree with you. But I think some MV are awesome as well."Karate", "Megitsune" and "Iine!" for example.
I tried to link it, but it seems to be the next one on the list of videos that have disappeared from TH-cam.
Yeah, I came into the fox hole with pop "backgroud" and kinda disliked Sis anger at first. But now that song is on top of my list!
@Tane Rameka It's just some kid's sweet 16 birthday party ;-)
Compared to most 80's and early-90's metal that required at least one on each album, I'd say they're doing ok.
You need to check out more BABYMETAL.
I return to this reaction every once in a while when I feel like I need to see someone's mind get completely obliterated.
This is the first time anyone who is not afraid to see Su-metal's "Gyaaaaaaaa!!". You are real!
Death Death Death Death Death!!! 🦊🤘 More BABYMETAL!!
This concert was in 2013, and was to celebrate Su-Metal's (the lead singer) 16th birthday.

Girl 2: "My friends took me out for dinner, then we went to a movie, it was fun! How about you, Suzuka?"

Girl 1 & 2: "..." *backing away slowly*
Babymetal do a lot of strange and bizarre things sometimes.
But this one have a comercial purpose behind, maybe a little complicated to explain but i´m gonna try, even english aren´t my first language
Babymetal is more a "Metal spectacle" more than a metal group, but all things have an origin, and the origin of Babymetal was the bizarre idea of a producer in an idol program with little girls.
🤘🦊🤘
Ascension to godhood for our queen, so beautiful...
"B - A - B - Y - M - E - T - A - L", "Su-Metal Desu (I am)", "Yui-Metal Desu", "Moa-Metal Desu".
Rondo of nightmare with mischief of gods intro. Another amazing piece of music.
Near the beginning you mentioned you are a Rob Zombie fan and then I knew, this would be a very fitting introduction to Babymetal. :-)
Insert recommendation a lot of people already wrote in other comments ;)
i went to the Los Angles Fourm show Oct 11th! best show of my life! Tears are normal with BabyMetal! I love them, Welcome to The One!
Let me give you some recommendations for (hopefully) more BABYMETAL reactions:

Now you know Why Rob Zombie is a Fan of Babymetal and why he defended them as 'Metal' when all of the "Elitests" were putting them down in the early days.
Hell, what's more Metal than being Crucified on your 16th Birthday in front of your two little friends and the Teaming Masses with Doom Metal playing under a crumbling statue of the Virgin Mary???
And how Metal was any of ya'lls 16th Birthay!?! LoL!!!
Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Typical first babymetal reaction lol. But you jumped in hard with this one. Love the reaction ..please continue your journey down the Foxhole
Gotta say, I've always enjoyed this BABYMETAL performance, but I just watched your reaction all the way through (4th time in less than 20 hours, #notastalker), because seeing it through your eyes was so much fun! Thank you for that. 🦊🤘

Not any cult to be seen around here. Continue your path.
@@steffenjachnow8176 Time to all change your icon to match today's concert stream of Legend S ! :-)
autohmae I missed the Legend S concert dammit lol
Yessss! I'm not sure which I love more - this incredible video by my very fav band or your wonderfully authentic reaction! I have watched it now 5 times (& counting) in a row.... thank you Deadgirl Superstar - you fkn rock!
If she tears up to Death, we need to see her react to Rondo of Nightmare, Akatsuki, and No Rain No Rainbow.
+ unfinished version of Akatsuki ☝️
I second this 👍
I've never seen this either so we reacted to this together! HOLY CRAP!!! Amazing!!!
The Queen and 2 Angels...
You have see Megitsune live Makuhari Messe, Ijime Damme Zettai live Sonisphere...
Nice! If you really like this one, then the next stop is Sis. Anger, Road Of Resistance, or Rondo Of Nightmare (with intro); you'll thank me later...
Welcome. One of the best reactions ever to this song. Babymetal fans will be showing up in droves real soon.
Welcome to the fox hole. We are the One.
Great reaction.
You cracked me up when you said 'Oh, I understand' halfway through the mayhem.
That song marks the rebirth of Su-metal as the Goddess of Metal...
entering BABYMETAL Universe from BABYMETAL DEATH Legend 1997 is very very bold move ..... nice !!
Babymetal are the only band that can sacrifice a 16 year old on stage
Love your reaction to this. They Rock! Looking forward to seeing you get deeper into BM. Their live stuff is where it's at. Keep Rocking!✌🏼🤘🏽
QUICKLY! NOT NOW, BUT RIGHT EFFING NOW!!! FIND "BABYMETAL'S 'GIMME CHOCOLATE' & WATCH - IT'S FROM THE SAME CONCERT. MORE LATER - NOW GO!!!!! 🦊🤘
Yup.
Yeah, but don't yell at her! It's rude!
@@steffenjachnow8176 In my world, that's being emphatic. The real question is - is it time to defund the font police?
Great random choice for a first experience. Nice to see an emotional reaction, looks like you 'get it', straight off the bat. Reminded me a bit of the reaction: Chair Dancing w/BJ REACTION| BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)
Hehe this is usually their intro to their concerts. Jump into the Fox Hole to the world of BABYMETAL every song is a surprise.
You need to hear Su sing. This is basically an instrumental.
Welcome To The FoxHole... More BabyMetal please... Be warned when you fall in to the FOXHOLE its hard to get out... KITSUNE UP PO... 🤟🤟🤟🦊🦊🦊🤟🤟🤟
Headbanger, Road Of Resistance, Karate, Sis Anger, Akatsuki, Distortion are just a couple of Babymetal worth checking out
Great great reaction !!! Thanks from Barcelona!! Babymetal forever
“Oh! I understand....”
That makes you one out of about 1000 reactors 😄
Well done 👍
Haha, that was entertaining! #NOTACULT
You might get a bit of a wrong idea of BABYMETAL by starting with this song, though.

Next Road of Resistance
Babymetal Death as the first reaction? Oh my days. You've already reach the ocean floor. My friends, who are bm fans, didn't even know this performance existed. :) good shit
The following quotes pretty much says it all about BABYMETAL...… These two gentlemen got a lot of hate when they supported OUR BABYMETAL..
Rob Zombie said in 2014: "Hey they are nice kids out on the road touring. What are you doing besides being a grumpy old fuck?" "They roll harder than you." "These three girls had more energy than 90 percent of the bands we play with."
John Campbell (Lamb of God) said in 2016: "Quit wasting time hating. Heavy Metal is forever growing, Babymetal is just one facet. One adorable facet!!" Instead, we still get "I'm so Metal that I'm threatened by 3 cute little Japanese girls." Wah... Go away, troll.
The look on your face says it all!welcome to the one!
I can't believe you started with 'Death'! 😂 That is an INTENSE entry point to Babymetal
*Somebody:* So, what did you do for your sweet sixteen?
*Sumetal:* Well........
Welcome to The One.
I know it has been out for quite a while, at this point. But great reaction, anyway. I know that you may have posted other Babymetal videos since, that were likely blocked, but I am glad you got to experience them. I figured you would like this one. lol
この人の反応が素晴らし😂😂😂😂👌👌👌👌👌🙆🙆🙆🙅やっぱり海外の人の反応は見てて楽しい🎶アリガトね😄😀
Welcome to the Babymetal rabbit hole (aka.fox hole) 😉. We've been waiting for you. 🤘😁🤘 If you're into reacting to more, there are SO MANY great songs... Gimme Chocolate, Megitsune, Road Of Resistance, iine, Karate, Sis Anger, BxMxC, Shine, etc.
Cheers from Vancouver, BC, Canada 🇨🇦
I see Babymetal, I click Like right away.
No need for further questions.
This was actually an opening.
Great reaction, girl :)
I hope react to more Babymetal song - every different each other but unique.
"Don`t think - feel" - this is how to watch BBM art.
My suggestion is "Doki Doki Morning" official MV to see how is starting BBM.
And one more suggestion - try Batmetal. You will loved it - guarantee :)))
Happy Birthday Suzuka!
