This concert was the celebration for her 16th birthday. They used to do that every year. Mikiko Mizuno designs the stage for the concerts, she is also the choreographer. Yes that wasn't sweat, Su had tears in the song that proceeded this, Akatsuki Unfinished, a good one to watch. A number of videos, like Gimme Chocolate, were shot at this concert.
Ah that explains it. Now the title makes sense. Only a true BM fan would know that information. That's dope you told us. Ah I see, were they tears of joy at least? Oh that's cool. We should probably check out the full concert if that's the case.
The start of the song is very lilely a tribute to Metallica, just like the ending (Metallica Justice for all tour had a statue breaking up). That wasn't sweat that make the make up run, it was the tear(s) from the song before it. Both MIkio Fujioka and Takayoshi Ohmura both have custom/signature ESP guitars. But that guitar Mikio was playing in this song I'm not sure which one that is. It's not his signature guitar. It was actually the last song. :-) Maybe not so strange, what else you gonna do after the main singer is dead ? ;-)
It is actually Mikio and Leda in this video but yes they all use ESP guitars. Only other guitar brand I’ve seen used is Strandberg which was used by only Leda from 2016 onwards
That's badass! Metallica is one of my favorite bands so to see them pay tribute to them is amazing to me. Ah I see were they tears of joy at least? Hell yeah ESP guitars! My personal favorite brand. I have 3 ESP LTD guitars. You have a good point there haha, that's a pretty epic way to close out a concert. -Eric
⚡ 💀 💕 / 💀 💀 💀 'Legend 1997' took place December 21st, 2013, the day after Su's 16th birthday. And you're right, 1997 was her birth year. There was also a 'Legend 1999' concert for Yui and Moa. 'BABYMETAL Death' was the last song of a five song encore with the live Kami Band. For 2012 through 2017, it was usually their show opener. In 2018 they started most shows with 'IN THE NAME OF'. Starting in 2019, they often use the prerecorded track (and visuals) called 'FUTURE METAL'.
Always like it when somebody instantly recognizes the Metallica - One hommage at the beginning of the song. The statue is also a Metallica hommage to ...and Justice for All. And the neckbrace you often see with Babymetal is a hommage to X Japan's drummer Yoshiki, who injured his neck with too much headbanging and wore a neckbrace at every live performance because of it. Babymetal's manager/producer Kobametal is a big fan of both bands, hence all the tributes. This was btw only her first of 4 or 5 crucifictions. In this concert it was her idol persona getting crucified so she could be reborn as a metal godess. But everytime it happened it was signaling some sort of change in the lore or it was just for a momentous occasion like the Tokyo Dome shows. Last time it happened was at Su's 20th birthday concert Legend S in 2017, which was also the first concert without Yui, but they didn't know at that time there would never be a concert with her again, of course.
Oh wow! the whole production of that song has so much going on in it that its mindblowing. That's so epic makes you really appreciate the work that goes into making it all happen.
YAAAASSSS!!! Great reaction, much fun. Not unlike Alan, my first viewing of this I thought it was an intro & also thinking, whatever follows better be one of the greatest songs of all time after this! 🦊🤘
I think this song is their intro song because Death and Desu sound very similar in Japanese so when they say "Su-Metal Desu" shes saying "My name is Su-Metal" and it sounds metal as hell lol. I'm positive the Babymetal Historians will fill you guys in with their kawaii metal dissertations.
@@andylarubin They only crucify Su on very special occasions. I think the last time was during the Legend S Baptism show in 2017 when Su was back in Hiroshima (her hometown for anyone that doesn't happen to know) for the very first time with BABYMETAL for her 20th birthday.
Yes you are correct, this is always their concert opener, at least on the first album era. It is actually a pun, because in japanese desu is the "to be" verb, so the girls do it like saying "dez" and it looks cute. Like this they introduce themselves: Su-metal desu (I am Su-metal), Moa-metal desu, Yui-metal desu, Babymetal-desu (We are Babymetal). But it didn't work exactly like that in Legend 1997 🤣
That's why we call it Baby metal universe and this has to do with everyone is involved from producers to kami band (S) from Moa and Su to this dance coaches from the practice that our cuties do every single day to keep the stamina high while dancing and singing Live etc etc from foxgod to Joakim (Sabbaton frontman) Rob Halford singing with Su it's an endless universe and a happy one so far. It's important to read the story behind their participation on the sonisphere and how they made it. From that day the earn respect on the stage while they turn the audience on them
So dope that they have a name for all things BabyMetal? It goes to show you the attention to detail they put in to everything and the hardworking everyone puts into it to make it possible.
You shoulld check something from their newest album, they have grown up alot and you can see and hhear it in their style. Yui isnt a part of babymetal anymore so the newest album is only with Su and Moa. I recommend Distortion, featuring Alyssia White-Gluz from Arch Enemy or Pa Pa Ya! featuring F.HERO, a rapper from Thailand.
Oh and also BxMxC live in Bruxelles, definitely a song that needs to be heard live. It has a weird techno sound, it's also like the heaviest song they have, and Su's vocals are the best in this one. All around the best song they have in my opinion.
@@dicodec The 2nd album, Metal Resistance was probably their most "metal" overall. Metal Galaxy, their most recent, is very diverse with the first half leaning more poppish (but still hard rock) and the second half of the CD is heavier. I like all of their CD's but Metal Galaxy is probably my favorite. You can definitely hear their overall sound maturing.
This track is a play on words. Desu, pronounced 'des', is how you say your name in Japan. So Panda desu. And that sounds like DEATH. Panda DEATH🤘If you want to see the party really get hyped watch the headbanger night of 15 mix. They only performed this version once for Sumetals birthday show. Do iiiittt! 🤘
I knew it! Randomly saw on facebook or something, that word "desu" and the meaning. Though it might have been related somehow. Thanks for clearing that up! -Eric
@@dicodec I'm sure someone has mentioned it, but I'm just catching up. To add a little extra context: There is not "th" sound in the Japanese language, but as Panda said, the word "desu" is pronounced "des" with a silent U, which sounds quite close to death. The Japanese love puns and a play on words, so their producer taught them to say it and stick their tongue between their teeth when introducing themselves (especially in interviews) to have it be "I am Su-Metal" in Japanese ("Su-Metal desu"), but to sound like "Su-Metal Death!" in English to give them a little added edge. It also gave them an added cuteness seeing these young girls say death/desu with their tongues sticking out a little and smiling.
Did you know besides road of resistance, all the videos you've reacted so far was from one composer, yuyoyuppe? You can react to one of their newer songs in their channel to see how they change.
Even if the others have been dancing more than her, Su swears the MST. Su has been crucified several times - once in a symbol. On one occasion all three were crucified - but never with nails - that would be going too far

Dicodec Yes, it’s just her constitution. In so many clips her hair is sticking to her forehead, whereas Yui, Moa and various Avengers have no such issues
react to their song Sis. Anger, it's another heavy song but it's performed just by the side dancers, there's a pro-shot compilation of it on a channel called AMR and it has subtitles so you can understand what they're talking about
My 16th birthday was nothing like this!! This is where SU-METAL became our METAL GODDESS QUEEN and an IDOL LEGEND!!!!! Is rock dead? Not in JAPAN it isn't my friends!!!! If you ask the girls who is there musical influence they will say with a big smile METALLICA. Metallica should them how amazing metal music can be, and the girls respect them a lot. If you google METALLICA & BABYMETAL you will see some cool pics of them together and the time BAYMETAL opened up for METALLICA. The music gods saw fit to reunite BABYMETAL with legendary metal group METALLICA at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. As one might expect from the trio, they absolutely rocked the stage! Kicking off Metallica's Seoul show on January 11, 2017, BABYMETAL opened the night with an explosive 6-song set.
Yeah that's a pretty epic way to spend your 16th birthday. That's so dope! Metallica is one of my favorite bands and to see them have respect for BabyMetal is amazing. Well deserved.
Dudes... THIS was a birthday celebration for a 16yr old teen lady. No cake. No birthday song. NO. Instead Su-Metal and her girls performed at a sold-out, packed venue, and made a mass of humanity chant their names and Death/Desu. And then...she got crucified...live on stage. 🤘🦊. Sadly, they no longer perform this song now. Currently BABYMETAL is performing all new jams from 3rd new album: Metal Galaxy. But they put in a couple classics during the live shows. So, when some bro starts talking smack about BABYMETAL, just stand there and replay This performance in your head. Then, when the hater stops running their mouth, just look at him and say, "They crucified the lead singer on stage when she turned 16." And just walk away. HaHa! Great reaction fellas! Welcome down the Fox Hole. 🤘🦊🎤🎸🇯🇵
That about as metal as it gets right there! What an epic way to spend your 16th birthday for sure. Absolutely agree these girls are more metal a lot of bands out there. Gotta give them their props! Hell yeah Kitsune Up! 🤘🦊
Yes, their band member #5 is digital sequencer operator. Their keyboard parts were usually replay from the digital sequencer in the lives. Band members were in shifts for lives since all of them were Music teachers from famous schools in Japan and it they were also session musicians or some of them have their own bands and they had commitments to their own businesses too....
That's amazing. Knew Kami band was legit. They're so much cool now that we know that they are music teachers. Also thanks for answering our question about the keys.
Just wanted you to know, I am a proud BABYMETAL cult member! I enjoy worshiping at the feet of queen Su Metal! May the Fox God bless your reaction channel! 🦊🦊🦊🦊
Maybe try headbanger next from the same concert. I was lucky enough to see them in February uk and they were awesome. Im 50 but i dont care. Good metal is good metal and they are up there with the best. 3000 fans that night cant be wrong
Love it!! Can you guys react to starlight next please? Their lead guitarist that died (RIP Mikio sama 😭 ) was a stargazer and fell from n observation deck.. the song really hits the feels especially if you read the whole lyrics... but even when i firs heard it and wasn't able to understand it still makes you feel that they were singing to him the whole song..
Oh man, it's always tough when you lose a member but to have them actually pass is heart breaking. Glad we have an idea of what the song is about now before we react to it. I think itll hit us more now. Thanks for that.
This whole song is the intro to their first album. It is usually used as an opener for live shows (except when they put crazy stunts like here) as it is literally the members introducing themselves.
They all play ESP guitars. Some 6 string but mostly 7 string ESP's, sometimes Leda or Takayoshi will play 8 sting ESP's and ESP just came out with a 9 string Babymetal Special Edition Guitar
If you look closely you will see that Boh's bass has a scalloped fret board and also if you look at Takayoshi Ohmura's Guitars his also have scalloped fret boards
Yeah, it's an intro of sorts as they usually open up their concerts with that but that concert was special because of Suzuka's birthday and used it as an ending while crucifying her. In the song they just spell BABYMETAL then follow with a presentation of each girl; like they go MoaMetal-desu, YuiMetal-desu, SuMetal-desu. At least I think that's how they introduce themselves in japanese and the desu sufix kinda of sounds like how they pronounce 'death' with a heavy japanese accent. So it's like if they were screaming death the whole time.
BABYMETAL DEATH is the most epic intro ever Pausing in the middle of headbanging just to say "she's so cute" and then continue headbanging - Sums up Babymetal lol
Told ya' it's a cult 😁🔥 RIP Mikio and the drummers brother😞😫 Pika-Su was reborn, also hoping Yui will comeback. Also hoping Leda is the new guitarist of Nocturnal Bloodlust.. So true, not enough recognition to the crew/players, the early Kami bands, also Shiren of Unlucky Morpheus was one of them, also they have a violinist too and it's a girl, can you believe that. /,,/
Nah, I though it was just a safety precaution. So dope that they have all these little Easter egg type deals in all their lives, music videos, and audio tracks. Really well thought out and original!
Their producer is Key "KOBAMETAL" Kobayashi. And yeah, i agree that he (and all other Babymetal production team) doesn't got enough credit. I mean, Koba and Amuse did have many questionable decisions, but without him we wouldn't have BABYMETAL. The fact that their composers is all freelancer, yet there aren't any band out there like Babymetal (that try to be like Babymetal and successful) tells you how amazing Koba is.
That's awesome! All bands and groups have to have that one mastermind. The dope thing about him though is all the easter eggs and references in each thing they do. It's pretty mindblowing.
@@dicodec Oh yeah, he's a big metal fans and also big X Japan fans. There are so many thing in BM that are referenced to X Japan, from the "We are X", gong, neckbrace, etc.
Also many people bash BM because they're "produced". Because they don't make their own music. It may be true IF you only consider BM as Su and Moa. But BM is not born from some exec idea to mix kawai and metal and throw a bunch of money. If you consider Babymetal AS A WHOLE, with Koba as producer, Mikiko as the choreographer, all the composers / lyricist, the Kami band as session musicians, and of course Su, Moa (and Yui) + avengers as one team. They basically the same as your typical "friends decided to make music together". People have different talent. There's nothing wrong with a bunch of people collaborating to make a band/group. They don't start big. If tou see their first video it's really showed how low budget they are. Even they don't have costume and use their own clothes. It's all start from Koba's vision, and then all other people combine realize it.
Did they even see the part where Su screams and everyone scatters like villagers in Minecraft when you ring the bell? Haha their eyes looked like they were closed lol
Dicodec I to am a guitarist I’ve played in clubs since I was 17. I’m now 51 and the Kami band is one of the most exciting bands I’ve seen in a long time. They kinda make everything else seem a little boring. Excellent musicians.
Actually Big concert in japan is always like this they have big production JROCK or JPOP Concert. its started in ARASHI there Senpai for IDOL Group ARASHI know for having a big production concert if the location is in a stadium or football arena the whole arena will be used as a stage like using moving stage, hydrolics stage, using pyrotechnics, water, fire, digital, hologram... Japan is another level in concert...
@@dicodec yes and one more thing the most important there concert is no one fans use a camera phone or video record during the concert not only because it was strict is also Japanese fans want to enjoy the performance of there artist....
That's awesome! I hate the idea of missing the performance just to record. I've done it a few times and it sucks. Wish all the U.S. shows would be the same.

SUzuka Nakamoto ( aka ) SUMETAL the lead singer who gets crucified was born 1997. Legend 1999 is the year YUIMETAL, and MOAMETAL were born. FYI Moa Kikuchi aka MOAMETAL was born on 7/4/1999. She is now 21 years of age. SUMETAL was born 12/26/1997 she is 22 years old.
Listening to the album: Aww, that's cute. Watching the live show: Yo, what the fuck? There's a reason these girls have won the approval of a lot of industry giants. Definitely look up the live show they did with Rob Halford of Judas Priest.
Right! Haha my thoughts exactly. Ypu can tell they put in the work and aren't just a gimmick. They have real talent and everyone can recognize that. I saw bits of it but we should do a full on reaction to it. -Eric
the title and the whole "death" thing is actually a play on words between Janapese and English. In Japanese you may say "Sonny desu" meaning "I am Sonny". The trailing u in "desu" is silent so it sounds more like "des", very similar to the english "death". Now the whole lyrics to this song basically is "Babymetal" spelled out and "Su-Metal desu", "Yui-Metal desu", "Moa-Metal desu", "Babymetal desu". All their're doing here is basically introducing themselves individually and as a band. As far as I know they actually usually played this as their first song.
"I thought that was an intro" LMAO Well, true. Death was often used as an intro song. Not always, but mostly. Because the only words in the song are "Baby Metal, Death (Desu) over and over, Spelling out Babymetal, and then their names+Death(Desu). It's such a heavy song, even if its mostly an instrumental intro. This rendition of Death, imo, is the best they did. "Want a car for your 16th Birthday? Nah, how about getting fake crucified on stage by your band mates while the whole stadium chants "Death" over and over?!"
It's an amazing feeling honestly. That feeling of an unexpected surprise that waves over you when hearing them. Haven't felt anything other than a slap from them in each song we've listened to.

Maybe not so strange, what else you gonna do after the main singer is dead ? ;-)
It is actually Mikio and Leda in this video but yes they all use ESP guitars. Only other guitar brand I’ve seen used is Strandberg which was used by only Leda from 2016 onwards
Our savior is not dead, she has risen! It took Jesus 3 days she did it in a minute.
Mikio was playing ESP Forest F-STD 7 string in this song at the concert. The other one on Head Banger was ESP Ultratone SL7 string
-Eric
The two bits of pyro at the end just before the statue collapses are exactly like the ones Metallica used at their show too.
⚡ 💀 💕 / 💀 💀 💀
'Legend 1997' took place December 21st, 2013, the day after Su's 16th birthday.
Oh wow! Thanks for clearing that up and all the insight.
I've watched this three time already,what a tune,😍
It really is an amazing song!
Thank you so much! Right, after an epic intro like that what else can you expect haha.
ESP Forest F-STD 7 8:17 MIkio Fujioka RIP
Esp my favorite guitar brand. Sucks though. It's a heartbreaking thing when a band member passes on.
plesantly supprised !!!
One of the few reactors who got the name right ,
the song title is indeed "Babymetal Death" & not just "Death"
Kudos :-)
Some of our viewers helped us with that thankfully.
Doesn't really matter if it's the opening song or ending song. It's still epic af! We've been getting mixed answers on this actually.
Dicodec this particular performance is the finale. But usually it’s an opener (but without crucifixion)
Ah I see, what an epic opening it was! That's so cool when they do these play on words.
In my taste the last album is the best.
Nice! I'm pretty curious to hear their new stuff. I've heard from other commenters that it is quite different. We are down!
Hell yeah, more BabyMetal. 🤘
Hell yea! More BabyMetal on the way!
Did you know besides road of resistance, all the videos you've reacted so far was from one composer, yuyoyuppe? You can react to one of their newer songs in their channel to see how they change.
Yeah..Yuyoyuppe is a genius..
Oh wow, we had no idea. That's pretty dope. That guy must be a genius for popping out so much fire!
That's how you celebrate your 16th birthday :)
You said it brother!
Great reaction! Kami Band had your headset falling off from all of the headbanging.
Thank you! Yes haha those guys are amazing. It's hard not to headbang.
Even if the others have been dancing more than her, Su swears the MST. Su has been crucified several times - once in a symbol. On one occasion all three were crucified - but never with nails - that would be going too far
I mean sweats the most. Do I not even check what I have typed?
@@keithsowerby8179 No worries How often do any of us check okay be sure autocorrect hasn't completely screwed up what we've said. Me:old guy. I have one comment a day, from someone "huh? what the **** do you mean"? I can't do a lot of typing because of carpal and arthritis. Bummer.
Haha no worries I got what you were saying. Makes perfect sense why she would sweat the most. That's crazy, I thought it was a one time thing. Oh my gosh imagine? That would be brutal!
Dicodec Yes, it’s just her constitution. In so many clips her hair is sticking to her forehead, whereas Yui, Moa and various Avengers have no such issues
*Band Maid* = *Rock*
*BabyMetal* = *Metal*
Facts!
react to their song Sis. Anger, it's another heavy song but it's performed just by the side dancers, there's a pro-shot compilation of it on a channel called AMR and it has subtitles so you can understand what they're talking about
Sound dope! I think we already have that one on the list so yup it's definitely gonna happen.
If you google METALLICA & BABYMETAL you will see some cool pics of them together and the
time BAYMETAL opened up for METALLICA.
Great reaction guys
Thank you!
You can see all three of the bands on Knotfest Japan, January 2021.
Let's start saving up so we can go. We will see you there.
The guitar is ESP.
That's dope! My favorite brand of guitars. I own three of them. -Eric
Koba Metal is a strsight up genius..
Absolutely! His attention to detail and creativity are off the charts.

Yes sir, that is the next BM we were going to react to next. That's epic you got to see them live. I can't argue with your logic haha.

@@dicodec thanks..you guys make really good reaction videos keep up the good work
@@dicodec they also released the song the day after they announced that Yui left the group. So in a sense it was a tribute to both Yui and Mikio.
FUCK YEAH, thankyou for this reaction \o/
Thank you for watching!!!!!!
This whole song is the intro to their first album.
It is usually used as an opener for live shows (except when they put crazy stunts like here) as it is literally the members introducing themselves.
Ah I see, that makes total sense. The whole Desu and Dez play on words thing?
@@dicodec Yup, Desu and Death have kinda the same pronunciation in Japanese.
And before it is them just spelling B-A-B-Y-M-E-T-A-L
Love this song... Keep up the good work guys... Greetings from spain.

Moa Kikuchi (菊地 最愛, Kikuchi Moa, born July 4, 1999)...... so like, 21 today,eh.......

We are babymetal.
Thank you so much!
They all play ESP guitars. Some 6 string but mostly 7 string ESP's, sometimes Leda or Takayoshi will play 8 sting ESP's and ESP just came out with a 9 string Babymetal Special Edition Guitar
Hell yeah ESP is my favorite guitar brand! I own three of them. That's so dope More strings = More metal haha. -Eric
@@dicodec yup, even the bass has 6 strings 😂

The energy collected from that concert is enough to lit up a million homes. Just phenomenal
\m/🐺\m/
Right! So insane
Ah I see. That's pretty dope! Playing on words the whole time.
Good reaction as always :)))
That means so much to us, thank you!!
Su-metel the singer was born in 97
BABYMETAL DEATH is the most epic intro ever
Pausing in the middle of headbanging just to say "she's so cute" and then continue headbanging - Sums up Babymetal lol
Heck yeah! Kawaii Metal all the way. 🤘🦊
Best concert intro ever 🦊🙌✌️🙌🔊📣🔊🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🔥
Pure epicness!
Best opener for metal concert

It's so funny to see the intro in Japanese subtitled in English xD
and then translated into Spanish 🤪
Haha It helped us alot though.
I'm glad you react this song.
😀
Told ya' it's a cult 😁🔥 RIP Mikio and the drummers brother😞😫 Pika-Su was reborn, also hoping Yui will comeback. Also hoping Leda is the new guitarist of Nocturnal Bloodlust.. So true, not enough recognition to the crew/players, the early Kami bands, also Shiren of Unlucky Morpheus was one of them, also they have a violinist too and it's a girl, can you believe that. /,,/
That's alot but I think I got the gist of it haha
That song is actually intro - the first song of their fist album. And that is the fucking best intro for the album or for any show so far.
I totally agree with you. It helps build the hype and gets to ready for more!
You must see Tales of destiny live on tokyo dome if u want some crazy play by kamiband

Nah, I though it was just a safety precaution. So dope that they have all these little Easter egg type deals in all their lives, music videos, and audio tracks. Really well thought out and original!
Try Lovebites - When Destinies Align. This Japanese female metalband is great !
They've been on our list for a while now. It's only a matter of time before we get into it.
@@dicodec also antoher Japanese female band Aldious - We Are is a great song.
Su-metal was born in 97,she is the main vocalist. This concert series was a celebration of her 20th birthday.
Oh dope! Thanks for clearing that up for us.
This was usually their first song in the concert, so it was an intro...
Спасибо за реакцию 👍🙏🔥 очень круто
The Kami band rules. Love Babymetal.
They are one of the tightest bands I've ever seen! BabyMetal slowly becoming one of my faves. -Eric
Dicodec I to am a guitarist I’ve played in clubs since I was 17. I’m now 51 and the Kami band is one of the most exciting bands I’ve seen in a long time. They kinda make everything else seem a little boring. Excellent musicians.
You guys should try Tales of Destinies next. The Kami band are amazing on this one.
Japan certainly does it right. Their attention to detail, creativity, and execution are all spot on!
@@dicodec yes and one more thing the most important there concert is no one fans use a camera phone or video record during the concert not only because it was strict is also Japanese fans want to enjoy the performance of there artist....

They are most certainly metal! That's exactly right! This performance is as metal as it gets!
this time......Su metal was dead......and....reborn as God of metal.
Wrong! She was simply born a Metal Godess.
❤
the title and the whole "death" thing is actually a play on words between Janapese and English.
Dope! You answered most of our questions. We really appreciate it! 🤘❤

At an Iron Maiden concert...... ratio male to female.... 90/10. BabyMetal........ 60/40. Bonus!!
Makes sense haha love it!
Still feels like an ultimate intro
How does it feel? How do you like getting slapped in the face.... every BabyMetal that is really great...comes out with a slap in the face...
It's an amazing feeling honestly. That feeling of an unexpected surprise that waves over you when hearing them. Haven't felt anything other than a slap from them in each song we've listened to.
