  • Today we're exploring more of the transmission on my mechanic special 335i, and we replace all the seals under the mechatronics unit! Hopefully this helps resolve the weird transmission surge issue we're experiencing, let me know if you've felt this on your BMW before! Maybe its just a sign to do a manual swap... ;)

    Thanks for the great detail you put in to the video. I had my 4 rubber sleeves out for a while till I got to it later. I forgot the sequence to put it back to gether. After searching days, I came across your video and saved me a lot of trouble. Thank you again.

    I always have good luck with Valvoline MaxLife ATF. I used it in all my four BMW vehicles and they shift better than high end fluids.

    i have heard from ppl that either oil change or replacement of torque converter will help that up and down reving, my brother had that problem on his e61 535d but oil change did help with that problem and i have seen ppl having that problem and need to change torque converter.

    Hi, wobling RPMs while steady drive means that your torque converter is bad... btw: when you want to "readapt" the TCU for new values, you need to reset the adaptations with diagnostic device.

    My 6hp19 gearbox has 50k miles on it and it fluctuates in rpm when shifting from 3rd to 4th gear and throws the 4F89 error. I changed the sealing sleeve, oil and filter, I will analyze the solenoids.
    I did a lot of research on this error code (4F89) and came to the conclusion that the problem is not with the gearbox itself, do you have any idea what else I can check?

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the code is persisting, your options are to check/replace the solenoids, and then after that, possibly replacing the whole valve body or transmission. Sorry about the trouble, good luck finding a solution, and write back when you do!

      Maybe someone else can chime in too, but it may be worth changing the solenoids in the transmission, along with these seals. At the same time, its not too expensive to source a used auto transmission, so that would be your next best bet. Best of luck friend, thanks for watching!

    congrats on the 1k man, I just found your channel today after watching some other videos on some issues i was having. I do have an issue with my 140k 2007 335i. I wanted to send you a video if possible or find a way to contact you. This issue has been plaguing me for so damn long. I think it's trans-related but I'm not sure. I have checked far and wide and not a single video on youtube showcases the issue or possible fixes. In fact, my local BMW mechanic has not a single idea of what it can be ;/ You said "surging", a bit more detail would be nice but i assume it's what's happening to me. During higher gears at around maybe 1400-2100rpm, I get an oscillation. My RPMs are jumping up and down nonstop. But when i get up and moving or am in lower gears, it's not really there much. It's so aggravating. It keeps jerking me forward and back nonstop and my RPMs just bounce up and down.
    edit: i uploaded a small clip. I couldn't catch it being very naughty the day I took the video but, the RPMs are far more erratic at times and jerkiness can be horrible. th-cam.com/video/jlQm4Erzek0/w-d-xo.html

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Poop, "oscillating" would probably be a better term for what I am/was experiencing. After replacing all the seals, fluids, filter, and doing a transmission adaptation reset, I'm happy to report that the oscillation is less noticeable, and continues to fade away with more driving. Other people here have recommended a transmission tune which would increase clutch pressures which may also help alleviate the issue. My transmission doesn't throw any codes, so I have no reason to start replacing expensive solenoids.
      Hopefully the video and my experience helped you, and I wish you good luck with servicing your car! Let me know if you have any other questions :)

I then used a few long extensions and a large socket like a 22mm I believe and then was able to press that against the sleeve with a hammer using leverage against the exhaust piping.
