    You know it's a good landing when the pilot monitoring is able to call the last four feet of the radio altimeter!

      @@CMBelite-FR Which he briefed well in advance by the way 1:26. It's likely a standard operating practice to land long on the nearly 11,000' runway in perfect VFR weather to roll out closer to the terminal.

      Jack Herstam that doesn’t explained the long floating but again’ you can afford afford to float that much on a long runway especially when there is no turbulence, no wind shear and not much crosswind

      @pilotguy707 agreed but he is within the landing zone and manage to take the exit they wanted. I guess if it was a 1800m runway, he wouldn't float that much, when you have a 2500m+ runway with an A320, you can afford to float abit with a greaser :)

    From a smooth landing, awesome view outside the windows, awesome pilots, and amazing equipment; I love it all. That sunset, those skies, and the landscape is very beautiful. I admit, I enjoy those clouds as well, it's just amazing. That plane sounds amazing too. The two different camera views of this landing was awesome. Awesome video, I love and enjoy it, thank you.

  • @tomstravels520

    I know that the FMC/FMGS will calculate top of descent automatically but don’t pilots have to wait for clearance to descend? What if they are cleared before or after which I guess happens a lot. Do they then wait until reaching it or if after then deploy speed brakes to catch up to it?

    • @rafaviation8332
      @rafaviation8332 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its not that hard that you think, specialy the A320 can reach top of descent with diference more than 6000ft without speedbrakes there are some thing A320 pilots take care of and thats to be 250kt at 10000 if there is speed restriction because is so difficult to kill the speed. Depends from wind and many things but I have seen to be we diffrence up from the slope 9999ft at FL360 and they got in the slope at approx FL230 its easy when you fly at CI15 for exaple and if you are too high you just deploy the speed brakes and set CI to maximum 999 for IAE engines A320 and like that you have 2/3 min with 6000/7000 fr min rate of descend until reaching max speed then you have -4000/5000ft

      Rafail Andreou whisky I’m at it then how soon do you know which STAR and runway you’ll arrive from. Because I believe it might be in the flight plan but guessing it could change quickly. And if ATC give a shortcut to ignore the STAR does that cause issues?

    • @BIOHAZARDXXXX
      @BIOHAZARDXXXX 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tomstravels520 You generally know the STAR before you deport, but that might change midflight if the destination wind changes and the airport's STARs are runway dependent like in Atlanta for example. You are also generally assigned a runway by the approach controller during your descent into the destination, but you can make a good guess much earlier based on the winds at the airport.

    Does anyone know what the wheels are on both sides of the throttles. The move back and forth. I have always wondered what the are and what they do.

    • @lightsaber1998
      @lightsaber1998 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      they are the stabilizer trim wheels! their movement indicates that the stabilizer is being trimmed (the entire thing rotating up or down to change the AoA)
      normally on an airbus these are controlled by the auto-trim system (no trim control on the sidestick unlike a boeing's yoke which has one at the thumb), but pilots can adjust the trim on the go if needed by rotating these trim wheels

  • @johndean4998
    @johndean4998 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The aircraft commander normally occupies the left seat. But both of these pilots are wearing captain's insignia. So is the pilot on the left a training captain (Pilot Monitoring) running a line check on his colleague in the right seat (Pilot Flying)?

    • @musicbymurphy835
      @musicbymurphy835 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Dean I’m pretty sure this is just a normal flight it’s perfectly fine and normal to have two captains on the flight deck, particularly in airlines such as SAS, they function exactly in the same way as they would if one was a FO or SO and one is delighted as PIC (normally the most experienced)

      @@tomstravels520 could depend on the person, I am not a pilot and only fly virtually with my right hand and i have a very weak left hand. I went to an Airbus A320 simulator and went on the captain side, perform all my take off and landing handflying with my left hand and I didn't have any issue like if it was natural, I was really surpised, I thought i would have hard time making the correct inputs with the stick but it wasn't the case at all, looks like my landing were even better than with my right hand

      Weight mainly is the primary factor, it was most likely a light aircraft. They take into consideration airport elevation, wind, temp, slope, runway friction so they probably didn't need it to maintain longevity of the brakes.
