@@RyanYu I can’t find the power cable? I have the mechanical still installed - do I use the power from that? And for a second ssd in the additional slot, would the power feed from the first ssd? Thanks !

Yeah, the SSD can be installed on any PC.

The power cable should be enough but you need an extra sata cable
@@discoveryourorigins5698 You could use the one that you had from the other machine too. but I'm not sure if the speed is gonna be the same, it's better to get a new one, I have a link for it too. you can get 3 in a box.

Hello good helpful video. I see you used the existing sata cable. I would like to know what your speeds are with this data ssd? I’ve recently installed one and the speeds are less than what is stated in the factory specs. I am getting below 200 lm on read and writes. I’ve tested this using ad, cryistal and Samsung Magician. The bios will not allow me to get the drive into ahi mode, so is this a limitation of the board/interface?

So I have a harddrive on my R7. I just bought a new SSD. I want to make it my boot drive. Shoud I unplug my harddrive and then install the SSD, and boot it with a windows USB to install? Just trying to figure out how to install my SSD correctly, thanks!
You can do a windows swapping sort of thing. Transfer the boot to your SSD.
question, i was wondering how i change it so that my new drive will now be the primary storage device for my pc. I installed a second harddrive and initialized it, it seems all good to go but my computer keeps saving everything on my previous ssd which is almost completely out of space. The new hard drive is still unused. Please help.
Take out your previous ssd, and if the system still works, then just format it.
Hi! I watched your mod tutorial replacing the original fans with the corsair ones. Very useful, and I am about to purchase them and follow your steps! My R12 has alrady one SSD as the main drive, and I have also a 2 TB HDD. I am planning to add a 3rd disk, another SSD. Do you know if the computer already comes with more SATA/power cables for a 3rd disk or do I have to buy extra? I have 0 experience with computers, so apologies if this is a dumb question
For the third one, you will need the sata cable. I remember the power cable is already in there, you will just need the sata, but please double check it.

It depends on what you need, if you want more storage for files like picture and video, you can get the HDD, if you want to store games then SSD. Yes you will need cable, and I have all the links in the description.
Whats the best way to replace the NVMe drive when it's my only drive? Looks like the machine only supports 1 PCI drive.

More storage and faster loading time than regular hard drive.
Do you know what might cause the SSD to stop working randomly? A quick restart fixes it but that's not ideal when downloading haha

If you only have one drive in the PC, then you don't need to buy anything, but if you already have two drives in the PC, then you will need to get the sata cable.

Unplug the power again, and press and hold your power button for 10 secs, then plug the power back, it should be ok.

I try to use a i9 10900k on my r12 and it doesn't work.
Maybe r12 works only with 11th gen?
Or maybe they work with kf series...it will helps a lot if you could tell if r12 is compatible with last gen cpu. Thanks for the tutorials.
I'm not sure about that, haven't tried anything like that. you can contact Dell support and try there.
@@RyanYu i did before buying the cpu. They told me that it should work. So i went to bb and buy a i9 10900k,when i installed the pc started blinking yellow 4 times.
Next day i contact dell again and they told me that the motherboard doesn't support that cpu...so im confuse 😅

Yes you can. But it may mess the airflow in the case tho.

You should definitely mention that the cable @1:32 is plugged into the motherboard. Where yours is empty. You will definitely have to buy the cable

You will need to get the sata cable. The power cable should be enough.

You can have your pirmary SSD which it came with as the Boot SSD for the OS and use the new SSD as a secondary memory source?

I see people mentioning upgrading the fan is this something crucial or can I just upgrade the SSD and ram without upgrading the fan?

Does the ssd slot support PCIE GEN4

I have an issue. When I installed the SSD, the heat is making my gpu hot 83 Celsius. Any recommendations there? I installed only one Corsair fan by the gpu from your previous video. Anything to help with this?
which GPU do you have?
I have a 3080. It got this hot when I started playing a game. The game was not running off of this SSD. It was running off the nvme ssd that is also my boot drive. I am thinking since the new ssd is right below the gpu, the heat from it is causing it to go high. Normally it runs at 68-72.
@@ChrisCharles720 I don’t think that’s the problem. I have two SSD be low my 3080 as well.
Perhaps it is my fan? Maybe something happened to it? It said on the Alienware control center that it was running. Or do you think one of the fans on the gpu broke? I never took it out when doing this upgrade. How would I check that?
@@ChrisCharles720 when you play that same game, open the panel and see if those fans are working.

Will upgrading to an SSD help eliminate bottlenecking? Ever since I purchased the R12 in December it bottlenecks so bad on games. Trying to ALT+TAB when playing a game freezes everything up for a few seconds to a minute. I’ve updated drivers via DELL official drivers. The only thing I didn’t install was the BIOS update, which was told not to?
