A year or so ago, I purchased a lot of 4 huge shammies on Amazon for about $10-$15 (4 pieces that are 15" x 12"). They work perfectly, and I cut a few of them down to like 6x6. You can customize them to any size you like. Yes, they get dirty (and stained) but considering ONE Lawn Fawn is almost $9 on Amazon and it's 7"x5", and a Gina K Tidy Towel is $6.50 and is 6"x8", I think I got the better deal (plus free shipping for being a Prime member).
I clean mine in warm water and use regular Dawn dish soap for a thorough clean. I let them air dry over a dish drying rack on the counter and they work good as new.
Stains don't bother me, so having a black one is like meh. I prefer saving $$ on "non-name brand" items then shelling out cash for something I'll probably end up replacing in 6 months.

I use the car shammy and I have had the same piece for 6 months. It is a little grey, but it still looks yellow enough. I rinse it under the tap and it comes clean. I have used Dawn dish soap on it and it didn’t ruin the feel of it. I have used different types of ink on it with no problems. I haven’t tried throwing it in the washing machine, yet. I still have 3/4th of the original towel in the container it came in. It ran about $9 at Walmart in the US.

My shammy is from Amazon basics. Less than $10 for two big shammies. I cut one in half and I’ve been using it over a year. Works great.

My favourite cleaner is the Lawn Fawn shammy. The stains don’t bother me. My tidy towel disintegrated after a couple of months use. The new sponge cleaner from Creativation was a definite fail in my opinion.

Wow! Who cares about the shammies, your nails are gorgeous!

I have the Lawn Fawn stamp shammy and a microfiber cloth. Both work great with water. I like using the microfiber on stamps and the Lawn Fawn on stencils.

I really like "the absorber" brand shammy i got on amazon. Really big and about 13 dollars i figure for the size i like i can get about 12 clothes so it goes a long way. I haven't had any disintegration and it works like a charm!

SunnysEyes I have "the absorber" too and I absolutely agree with you, it's just as good as the lawn fawn stamp shammy but whole lot better value!

I have the absorber as well, I've had it for over a year and haven't cut another piece from it yet. It's perfect and works perfect, I use stamp cleaner when I remember, but water works fine . I rinse it whenever I use it, let it dry, in my coconut (which only keeps it moist while I'm using it) It's the exact same thing as the other crafting ones, but I got it on sale at Walmart for 8.99, and can cut at least another 12-16 big pieces of of it. Best diy stamping tip on the market.

I got one in blue, so many colors or ink types don't stain it. Looks new when I wash it out really good.

Note if you wash any of these cloths in the washing machine DO NOT add fabric conditioner / softener as It reduces its effectiveness

Thanks for the tip; i dont use softener but good to know :-)

Thanks! I have been wary of throwing these in the washer. I just rinse thoroughly in warm water. Do you find that that stops working and the shammy really needs a trip through the washer? Do you use regular laundry soap? I guess i could put them in with my studio cloths.

@@SunnysEyes I hand wash then put them in washing machine every 3rd or 4th wash to get them properly clean and I use cheep washing liquid on a quick wash

I just use any cheap cloth/rag and if need be I give them all a wash at the end of use in soapy water then leave to air dry on a piece of kitchen roll. Worked fine for me for the past year and all my stamps are pristine. I feel that these sort of products are luxury items, nice to have but not really necessary. I personally would not pay good money for anything thats just for cleaning and will get grubby.

Do you have any tips on cleaning stamps after using Nuvo hybrid ink? I used it on a stamp set and after I stamped and cleaned them I left them in my Tim Holtz stamp platform and I wound up with the images on the platform even though I'd cleaned the stamps with cleaner and baby wipes.

I have the coconut but I can't get it to stay closed so the shammy always drys out.I have to tape the top closed, otherwise, I would like it.

    • @HedgehogHollow

It should have a gap; it prevents mold form forming

Thank you for this information. If the stamp shammy has Stazon ink on it, will it stain the washing machine? Have you ever had issues with your Inks in your washing machine?

No but then I wash with towel I use when I dye my hair and I always do a machine clean cycle after ( I use soda crystals , bicarbonate of soda and tea tree oil on hottest quick cycle in empty machine to clean)
