Before I even knew about the shammy to clean stamps, I needed to figure out a way to clean my stamps. So, I made my own. I have a small spray bottle with a solution of distilled water and glycerin. I purchased a hard plastic pencil case. I also picked up a low-pile mop head attachment, all at the dollar store, and cut it in half. I glued one half on each side of the pencil case. One side is for when the stamp is sprayed with the solution, then, I dry it on the other side. A simple swipe is all it needs to clean and dry it. I store the spray bottle inside the pencil case. This has worked well for me and didn't cost a lot to make. I've been using it now for about 9-10 months. I will replace the mop heads inside the pencil case if they become too dirty. So far, it is fine. It's easy to pack up with me when I am going to craft with friends. One of my frustrations with stamping was having a pile of stamps to clean at the end of crafting. That is not the case any longer. I simply clean the stamps as I go!! 😃😃😃😃
Hi, I am brand new to this, I just read your info on how you clean your stamps. I cannot envision what you mean when you refer to MOP HEADS? To me a mop head is too big to fit into a pencil box. Any chance you have a picture? Thank you!
I have a Sammie. Thank you for the tips. I will be ordering a second one and cutting down. Also glad you mentioned that it can go in washer. Thank you again!
I do have the SU shammy, but I do like to stamp off onto scrap paper or my large paper I'm using to protect my work surface first, then use the shammy to finish cleaning the stamp. Use the stamp n Scrub the same way. I, too have a whole shammy.and a cut up one. I love your videos. I've gotten so many great ideas. Plus, you are so down to earth and pleasant to listen to!
I use a small block that has a scrubbing pad adhered to it. I first spritz it with Brutus Monroe stamp cleaner. After using it, I dry the stamp with a microfiber cloth. You can get replacement scrubber pads too. The cleaner lasts a long time. You only need a tiny bit. I also have a shammy. Both of these methods work well for me. I've heard that the Kirkland brand of wipes do not have any fibers and work great, too. But they are kind of pricey. Love these kinds of demos! Thank you, Anna! ♡♡♡ Suzy
Omg Ana, I can’t believe you stamped on that perfect clean shammy. Lol. I have a cheap shammy that I use and it usually cleans well when it doesn’t I use stamp spray and clean it again. Thank you Anna.😊
I have and use both of these items! I have one shammy cut in half and in a ziploc bag to carry with my paper pumpkin kits. I always take one with me on weekend getaways because you never know what the weather will do! 😅.
I use a paint pad you buy in the paint department. I put in a wipies case and spare with krud Kutter earth friendly spray. Works just as well as your stampin scrub.
My way to clean stamps is to run some warm water and dawn and an old toothbrush . Last night I used the stamp and scrub and wasn’t all that happy with it.
I’m old school with the Stampin Scrub so when I got back into Stampin I was like, what’s this Shammy thing. I didn’t have any stampin parties to go to where I used to learn about stuff like that, so when I bought it, I wanted to use it, but was a bit clueless on how. Thanks Anna for helping me figure some things out about it!
I have something similar to the stamp and scrub with the Brutus Monroe cleaner and a shammy type cloth. This was before I found your channel. I really enjoy your tips and tricks. Thank you for sharing.
I have both and have tried baby wipes. Most baby wipes are too soapy so I just use them to clean my hands. I prefer the Stampin’ Scrub because it gets most of those detail areas clean. I am working on using a lighter touch when I ink my stamp 😉. I usually end up using the Shammie though because it doesn’t take up as much room. Love the idea of cutting the Shammie. I see another one being ordered in the future.
Stampin'Up sent me one in the mail (surprise!) and it was dry and hard. I soaked it until it got soft and squishy. I had it stored inside of an empty stamp case just like yours. And about a month later- there was MOLD growing all over it and inside the stamp case.
I dont have a shammy but I do have a stamp and scrub. Love it Got it with a bundle of stamps somewhere lol. Never seen the rain and sun emblem on mine. Will have to check when I get home
Hi Anna, I have a very old Stamp n Scrub that i use for my Red rubber stamps. I use the Shammy for my clear stamps. I need to get another shammy and cut it in half or quarters like you have and use themm to clean the stamps on the stamparatus. Great Idea!
I’ve used both baby wipes and the stamp ‘n scrub for years. I bought the shammy a while back but have not actually used it. Thanks for the video! I’ll have to open it up and put it to work! Really enjoy all your videos😊
Thanks, Anna! My shammy dries in into a hard, uneven brick that won’t fit in a closed stamp case. DEFINITELY needs to soak to use without wasting tons of water and time at the sink. I bought a dollar store container to store then soak but put into the stamp case to clean the stamps.
Thank you for sharing this. I still consider myself new to stamping & definitely want to get into good cleanup habits before it turns into a huge mess 😄. I’m in Ontario, Canada & have now connected via e-mail with a local StampinUp! demonstrator to find out about purchasing the shammy & scrub.
I use something very similar to the Shammy, but after using my stamp, I always stamp it off on a scrap piece of paper first (to get rid of extra ink). I find the Shammy holds up a little better that way. Baby wipes were great to use 20 years ago, but the quality has changed, and the fuzzies are terrible now. 😂
I use the shammie most. Also love and maybe share again how you prep new stamps and use versa mark to not stain. I cringe when I watch you tubes and they use red for the first time 😮
Are you saying that a new stamp should first prep the and then be stamped with versa.mark ? Do this for brand new stamps. I know to prep them by rubbing stamp on my wrists.
The best way I know to clean photopolymer stamps is this way Wash under cold clean running tap water only takes a few seconds and then shake of excess water. Leave on sink away from lint in a a few minutes the stamp dries and I put it back and this is the best mess free and cheapest way I know how. I have a shimmy but it's fussy. I have ONLY DONE THIS WITH PHOTOPOLYMER STAMPS.. I am not sure if the red rubber stamps will be ok under water or if the picture will lift off the back of the stamp
HINT, PER Jennifer McGuire … IF you prefer BABY WIPES, H E R favorite (though I can NOT say how long ago!) is the COSTCO brand, Kirkland’s, as she says THEY don’t fuzz and pill. Before I got a stamping platform, I preferred to use my homemade version of the fuzzy pad cleaner, using a soft bristle-y pad designed to apply paint to large areas (NOT a roller; a PAD). Since getting a platform I either remove the stamp and use the pad, or use baby wipes, OR use a p i e c e of a faux chamois mentioned by a y.t.’r, sold at Walmart, with a name that begins with an E. Shame on me for not knowing the details. Me culpa. Good product, and the thing is h u g e !!! 16” x 20” maybe?
I have a SERIOUS case of O.C.D. There are certain things that I really struggle with. Washing my hands is one (lol) and cleaning my stamps is another!!! It drives me INSANE when my stamps aren't clean. I don't use baby wipes for the same reason you said: I don't like the little "fuzzies" they leave on my stamps! I don't even get to the point of reinking them as I MUST get those "fuzzies" off before I can use them again (more O.C.D.)!!! I'm big enough to admit I spend too much time watching You Tube videos! The one thing I CAN'T watch are videos where people don't clean their stamps, especially after using alcohol based inks like Staz-On! I want to reach thru my computer monitor and grab those dirty stamps!!! I purchased a unique train stamp at a flea market years ago. It was a wood mounted red rubber and the thing was so dirty with ink, I didn't know if it would even stamp an image! I came home and scrubbed that silly thing with Stampin' Up Staz-On cleaner. It never looked new but I took years of black ink off that stamp and it worked fine!!! I SWEAR by Stampin' Up Staz-on cleaner and the scrubber. I've tried others but have found Stampin' Up Staz-On cleaner and the scrubber never fail. They're better than ANY cleaner on the market (imo)!!!
Hand sanitizer has alcohol in it. You are going to ruin your stamps very quickly! If you have any old rubber stamps, the hand sanitizer will crack the rubber. I highly recommend Dr. Bronner‘s multipurpose soap that you can get at sprouts, vitamin cottage, I think even Walmart carries it. A couple drops in a bottle of water will do.
I think the hand sanitizer has alcohol which is very bad for your stamps. It's probably hard on them anyway as the formula is designed to kill bacteria and causes dry hands. But I bet it works great on ink stains and would be great for cleaning a desktop or craft mat, etc.
@@cherylotto-cunningham1843hand sanitizer on stampin platforms is great, it gets the stubborn marks off, without damage, then wipe with a damp cloth! Leave to dry…😊
What! 😱 Are you kidding, throw it in the washer with your clothing??? I would never do that, just saying. I myself use wet microfiber towels. Blessed crafting. 😊

Hi Anna, Ido much the same as you. I use the shammy on the stamp platform and the scrub for stamps on blocks. Great video!
I use the shammy and the scrub. They both have their place and purpose and I like them both. Thanks Anna!

I use my purple shami that is kept in my stamp case, because you taught me that!!!!
Thanks for the tips. I love my shammy and haven't pulled out my stamp 'n scrub in forever - but I've kept it handy - just in case!!
I use the whammy almost every time 🎉
This is a good idea
I wet a wash cloth with cool water. Rinse and reuse.
I love my shammy , I have used baby wipes in the past but had inky fingers and fluff . I also have my stampin up scrubber that I like as well.
Glad you like it!!
I think it helps to blot off the extra ink on scratch paper before even trying to clean it. A lot less inky mess!
Thanks! Always great tips!

how do you clean the blocks? do a tutorial for that please

What do you do with stamps, clear that are stained. I have the stamp scrubber and a shammy, but I cannot get it clean. Help please. 🤓
Question??? Do we need to leave the Stamp n Scrub open to prevent the stinkies and mold?
I have the 2nd device; does it need cleaned? If so, how?
Cool tip!❤
Hello my name is Mary and was wondering if I could use soap and water to take the ink off the Stamp instead of doing it another way.
I use a shammy on most but if it’s detailed I use the stamp and scrub
I use Fred Flo baby wipes from Tesco supermarket no chemical's in them

I just got a Shammy lately. Baby wipes do leave fuzzy stuff sometimes
Instead of throwing the shammy into the wash can it be hand washed with a dish soap? Thanks
I don't like baby wipes either. I just got the shammy & I don't entirely remember how it works.
How do you clean stamp in blocks?
Just hoping you are doing okay💜
love your techniques. thank you
I use a shammy
I use alcohol free wet wipes. I've never had the issue with fuzzies with those, as I have with damp paper towels.
Stamp as much ink off as possible then wipe Shammy while I’m stamping. When done stamping I spray with SU Stampin Mist & use a soft toothbrush.

Hello ANNA- I use the Stampin Scrub. I think it he”s to condition the stamps as well. Thanks for sharing this video with us. Have a great week. 👏👏👏💐🌻
I use a shammy, baby wipes and a spray cleaner from sobriety else.
Some told me mean green for one type of stamp but i cant remember what type. ONe channel said use windex....dont is all i can say...
I always stamp off on waste paper before I use my shammy so that I don't have so much ink on the stamp and then on to the shammy
The flushable wipes, not baby wipes, work well without getting ink on your hands

Hi Stampin’ Up! Sham or baby wipes
Baby wipes?
I’ll get blasted for this. But I use a non alcohol baby wipe with hand sanitizer. By the time they deteriorate I’ll be too old to use them. ❤
Shamwow! Cleans dirt, ink and blood! 😅
Soapy water? But I'm not sure thanks for your tutorial
Stamp cleaner and stampin scrub.
SU shammy after stamping it off on my scratch paper
I use either a dry microfiber towel or a little gel hand sanitizer, then wipe off with my microfiber towel or a paper towel.

I checked out Simply Shammy and the shipping cost almost as much as shammy. Won't be buying.
What! 😱 Are you kidding, throw it in the washer with your clothing??? I would never do that, just saying. I myself use wet microfiber towels. Blessed crafting. 😊
baby wipes, paper towels with water, alcohol
No alcohol! It will dry the rubber. But it sure cleans the ink. I use it on my desktop and craft mat.
Damp paper towel
