I've always loved the independents including Nash . The Healy is a timeless design and shows creativity doesn't just come out of Detroit.

Thank you so much Mr. Larry Read for sharing your UNBELIEVABLE 1954 Nash Healey Le Mans Coupe with us!!!! I really enjoyed seeing such a fine car!!!!
Awesome job Mr. Lou!!!! Another EXCELLENT presentation of such an extremely rare car!!! I really enjoyed this car and this episode!!! I cannot believe how few 1954 Nash Healey Le Mans Coupes where made (354 coupes)!!! I cannot believe that the cars where assembled all over the world!!! Nash did not consider their production cost and shipping cost!!! This car reminds me of two fiber glass cars that where built about the same time!!! The 1953 Chevrolet Corvette and the 1954 Kaiser Darrin!!!! The Corvette survived but the Darrin did not make it!!! Kaiser only built 435 Darrin's before they stopped production!!!! All the auto builders where trying to produce a car for the small two seater sports car, or race car, market!!! So many customers wanted a car that they could race on the week ends and drive to work Monday through Friday!!!! All the auto builders wanted to put their car in the S.C.C.A. racing. They wanted to compete with all the other cars!!!!! Again Mr. Lou, thanks for such an AWESOME presentation!!!!

Hi, Lou! As I was coming of age in the Eighties, we occasionally heard about cars that were joint ventures, but as this car shows, it was definitely not a new thing then. Nashes were always different (especially post-WW2), and that goes doubly true for this classic Nash/Pininfarina creation. You could easily spot one of these coming at night with those closely set headlights, and I too couldn't help but think this looked like a Mercedes from the rear. My sources tell me the Nash-Healey started out at more than 4,000 simoleons when first introduced in 1951, so yeah, Larry is definitely fortunate to have found one!
Many thanks to you, Larry and Hayden for this fine presentation!

The prettiest example I've seen. I like the hardtop more than the convertible. You can never go wrong with silver and red leather too. Actually, Nash's were very popular in the 1930's and 1940's. Even the first Airstreams of '49-'50 were popular. They did the fatal mistake though of being too different from the norm and soon it was all over.

Nash sure made some great cars. Especually this one. It's proportiins seem to be quite a bit like the Mercedes Benz 300 SL, but a whole lot more spacious on the inside. the SL was very cramped on the inside. Most likely a lot smaller on the outside than it looks in pictures and video

I always thought these looked fantastic and are the right blend between sport and luxury in the classic small British sports car type form factor and a larger luxury grand tourer , not as big as a Bentley or Bristol or something I don’t think but more easy to live with than an MG or Austin Healey, better seats, less austere styling. Very cool. More cars like this Lou!

This episode was difficult to watch. Trying to pay attention to the foreground with the Nash/Healey and seeing all the cars in the background that need Mr. Lou’s attention was like trying to walk up stairs and chew gum at the same time. Any time I see a story about a car with a floor mounted starter switch on here always reminds me of the Bugs Bunny cartoons where ole Bugs is stretched out behind the wheel of a car trying to start it.

That is not the car raced at Le Mans. That car used a lighter Pressed Steel body from the Healey Silverstone. The company that built this car (which unlike GM never went bankrupt) was Nash-Kelvinator. Charles Nash, who as President of GM pulled them out of receivership in the early 20th century, later built cars in his own name. When he was considering retirement, he bought Kelvinator (which was based in Michigan - not Wisconsin!) in order to obtain the services of George Mason.
The body on this car is made of steel and was styled by Battista Farina. Pinin was his nickname.
Lou, you do a good job, generally, but a bit of research would have helped dispel the many errors in this fellow's story.
