  • Beatsource is a collaboration between Beatport and DJCity, merging the worlds largest record pool with some of the worlds best DJ talent. The result is a store and streaming service that offers DJ's the opportunity to play from a library set up by world class DJ's. Today DJ Holland looks at LINK, a monthly subscription which offers DJ's the ability to search, stream and store Beatsource directly inside DJ software.

      Do you think that we will get to the point where other DJ's can create/share playlists internally within rekordbox? I really love the idea that you are supporting and hope that in the future that there will be a collaboration function added, allowing friends to create Spotify type interactive playlists that are shareable but from the DJ's library.

    Just started testing Beatsource and just noticed to major issue onless I have overlooked this points. First, I did not see many or almost none music with intro and outro. And the most serious issue is that either Rekordbox or Beatsource will the to improve the search function. You need to add a second filter to reduce the amount of songs that pops up. The ideal filter will be the year filter. This way a person use the name of the song they are looking for and a year range from when they believe the song came out. This way the user has lots of less track to search thru.

    Does it work with last version of Rekordbox 5? I don't think is cheap. I pay 8 eur for SoundCloud or 7 for Spotify if someone ask me a track that I don't have. Beatsource should keep the same range of price.

    Is the music primarily main stream house, dance and that sort of thing? That kind of music has been great for learning but I prefer harder crunchy electronic music like NoiseFx or industrial leaning stuff like Rotersand and Funker Vogt and I find all of these DJ libraries sorely lacking for anything "interesting".

    • @Crossfader
      @Crossfader  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When we were testing the tracks cached into the DJ software when loaded very quickly meaning you shouldn't have a drop out or any buffering

    • @ruk2023--
      @ruk2023-- 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Surprised you didn't submit this comment by fax :) In seriousness (and I'm only pulling your leg), while there is still a minor likelihood that these problems could happen I'd bet my bollocks to a barn dance that within 5 years all the big DJs are streaming their sets. How can I be so sure you ask. Well, because at a lot of arena gigs the front of house sound mixers talk to stage lighting by wifi already and I've not heard anyone moan about lighting drop outs. I watched a few videos on this and most FoH engineers set up their own private wifi network at arenas to keep things ticking along.
      Im summary, wifi is not the problem itself. The problem is over-capacity of the network making it slow and potentially causing drop outs and the solution for this has existed for years already. Create a private network that has a secondary backup connection routed to it and once big clubs are doing that you are more likely to have a powercut than a wifi dropout.

    • @PsfhC
      @PsfhC 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably the song stays cached after loading, until it is unloaded. It's like you can watch an already buffered youtube video after your wifi goes out. Bad internet will only affect the loading into the deck process, which of course could be a problem if you're trying to load the next song in a hurry. But you won't have any unexpected drops on a song already loaded/playing.

    • @klausmogensen8691
      @klausmogensen8691 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are not actually streaming it. You are downloading it to a deck and then playing it. So no risk of dropouts

      @ruk2023-- 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@klausmogensen8691 I think he also means at a more holistic level, what if the wifi goes down in the club half way through a set when you want to get a new song.

    I see the catalogue not being as large as on Beatpork Link a plus, personally. As much as I love beatport (and the bank account dent to prove it) the link search is really bad because everything you search for comes up with hundreds of results. Spotify has way more tracks than Beatport so I don't know how they get their search so right and BPL gets it so wrong.
    Actually, I do know. Spotify weights their results based on popularity and other factors and shows most likely results. Beatport knows you need exactly what you want and it might be obscure. Well done answering my own question there. Pat on the back to me :-D

      You may be missing the point. Beatsource is not meant to be used solely if you plan to DJ a whole night. You have your own collection of tracks, and Beatsource allows you to add more very quickly if needed. As Holland says, imagine you need to do a R&B set, but you haven't really updated your collection recently. Well, here you go, you can add up to 100 tracks to your existing R&B collection to have the latest & greatest.
      Frankly, I highly doubt any DJ would go play a whole night without any existing collection of tracks.

    The system software and usability, via playlist management is great. The integration with RB6 is much better than Beatport Link or Soundcloud Go+. The biggest problem and reason why I will not subscribe is purely down to the music. Commercial, corny and not at all intelligent enough. Good enough, if you are a commercial DJ playing wedding parties or into shitty R&B masquerading as so called 'Hip-Hop ', crappy Stadium House from Ikea, Progressive? My arse! Fuck me, I hate that shit. No Drum and Bass, Dubstep even. No IDM, No Breaks, Decent Electro, Proper Techno. No quality in EDM at all, which is pants. The curated playlist headings have been created by shortsighted and unimaginative 'club bangers collectors for the masses. Not music I would ever buy or play. Calvin fucking Harris???
    Tidal on RB please, as Spotify ain't gonna happen anymore and Soundcloud and Beatport aren't good enough.
