    Help! Scotty I have a 2006 Lincoln Navigator with 8 months old battery, and my park light on the shift stays on and I believe it is draining my battery. How do I fix it?

    Most common is the fuel pump relay shorting on the fuse block circuit board. Drains on mine where from water intrusion on the GEM module. Both of these are caused by water leaking from firewall and a pillar around windshield. Take not if it does it when it rains or after car washes.

    I also have a 2004 Lincoln Navigator that drains. I’ve had it to 2 electric shops that say there is insignificant drain, like .2. It has been 6-7 years just replacing batteries every7-8 months. Very frustrating! I don’t see an answer here either. Has anyone figured it out? The one noticeable thing is that the cassette tape player tries to play continuously when the battery is low. And I also have suspensions about the old video player in the back seat. Just hunches.

    I have a lincoln navigator 2004, on some occasions, when i try to start it nothing works, no interior lights, no start no crank , nothing. Seems like all dead. But then suddenly after an hour or two, it starts working like nothing happened. Later on when i m driving it dies randomly and turns back on when i start it right away again, anybody with this problem? Please help, i am suspecting it to be a ground problem or an ECU problem

      I do not have as sever as you. Mine will almost stall or drop out for 1/2 during lite acceleration, and once in a great while it will stall if I am at a light. I know something is coming but cannot pinpoint it. Its not the AIC, and the way it drops out might be electronic. I have not ruled out a fuel pump but it might not be as quick of drop out if it were the pump. Go figure.

      There is a relay on them that I don't know what is called. It is intended to keep your battery from going dead if you leave the lights on, and cuts all power. That would be the first thing I would check. Google should tell you where it is and what the part name is.

    update, please... I have a similar issue but mine won't allow my air suspension compressor to turn on, yet i can jump it with 12vt and compressor works fine. checked fuses removed the junction box found 2 resistors with no reading. think this might be the problem. I have no one to help me really.

    What battery should a 2004 linconl navigator have cuz i need a new one

    • @TheHumanSwissArmyKnife

      Batteries are something I do not scrimp dollars on. Largest one you can get, the old one will have the group size and the highest CCA, or cold cranking amps. The largest physical size with the same position of the posts, plus and minus. Interstate is still a good battery, but most batteries now days are very similar in quality. E

    • @TheHumanSwissArmyKnife
      @TheHumanSwissArmyKnife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      get a the biggest one you can get, interstate is still a good choice. I do not a model for you. I put a switch on the battery when I go away or do not use the car for more than 5 days, and it is not the rear wiper motor draining the battery.

    I saw if you have the dvd player in the vehicle that usually is the culprit. Remove fuse #4. For those that don’t know where the fuses are it’s located on the passenger side kick panel (by your right foot if you were sitting in the passenger seat.) hope this helps someone.

    Change the ignition switch, not the lock cylinder, but the electrical ignition switch. I had the same problem, gear indicator light staying on, finally changed switch problem solved

    • @kimberlyanne8549

      That makes sense. Mine does this and my key is stuck in the ignition due to an issue with the shifter.

      @@kimberlyanne8549 it is the PLASTIC gear cable interlock breaks in ALL of them.
      Its located right under the shift knob.
      If you take th we shift knob of by prying tab on top off then silver ring around bottom you will see the shift interlock is broken (rod falls down inside of shifter), undo tiny screw on shifter and grab shift rod with needle nose pliers and lift up and hold them tighten screw. Keyy will then come out. Takes 10 mins to complete. I've done all of mine at the gas station, when I couldnt put car in gear or remove key.
      BUT your car shifter wont lock and can be put in any gear at any time so becareful nog yo bump during driving.
      Been driving driving mine like this for about three years. Old school way.
      They want 900 dollars to fix i.e. ridiculous!

    Hi I also have a 04 navigator, I've had to do some extensive work on it... I had to change a dead alternator, then just got done with the fly wheel, now after only driving it about a week, again killed another alternator, any suggestions on what could possibly be doing this would be greatly appreciated, I know it could be a ground somewhere but I have no clue on where to start...

    • @TheHumanSwissArmyKnife
      @TheHumanSwissArmyKnife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow, two alternators. There is a possiblity that you got a bad alternator. They are bullet-proof, and you would blow a fuse before it would kill the alternator. That is a strange one. There are only two items that draw enough power to kill an alternator and that is the starter and maybe the AC unit but I would not thing the AC unit. I still think you got a bad alternator install. Hopefully, they will install a new one, and if that 3rd one goes bad, you have some exposed wires that are shorting the system out. These exposed wires will have to be very very heavy guage wires. Good luck Channa.

      I've not had alternator issues, but I'm losing electronics a little at a time, along with the battery dying. The driver's seat will not move, power locks don't work, the stereo - although it still lights up, and now my traction control light is on. All of the fuses are good, though...

      My bet is you live in a rainy area and just maybe you have a leaky passenger-side area ,which I learned can leak, which can introduce water into the large main fuse block. You might be able to physically inspect the surrounding areas for water leakage.

      Eric Kirkhuff you know that makes sense sense it happened after I went to the car wash, my sun roof wasn't closed all the way and I noticed leaking behind the oh shit handle.. I live In Michigan.. been pretty dry till now lol..

    So...the only thing you know for sure is ??? lol Mine does exactly the same thing. Check your rear wiper motor. Once you try to turn it on, (if it's seized) they will try to complete the cycle.

    • @TheHumanSwissArmyKnife
      @TheHumanSwissArmyKnife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is common and is an easy fix. Sit in your car with the doors close and listen for the wiper motor to actuate every few minutes, that will kill your battery over time. I just pulled the fuse and ran it for a week. e

      I actually found a two things, one was an old stereo component hidden under the console that was chewing up power, and the other was the Fuse block by the passengers side, with issues, and I sent it out to a guy on ebay for a few hundred dollars.
