My dad who is a retired cop, who actually left the police department to become a Minister was surprised when his 42 year old son (me) called him with Bible stories of Ehud and King David. Having been on Medical Leave for PTSD since this past June, his advice to me was "Keep listening, it sounds like something stuck". Thank you Jack and Kyle

Lee Van Arsdale has talked about how it was not a suicide mission or anything. "They're type A personalities", of course they knew it was risky, but they're trained and competent and probably thought they could fight their way through it. The same pilot who picked up Busch at the first crash landed at the second crash but had trouble coordinating with Randy & Gary, and were forced to leave due to too much incoming fire. Had they been able to coordinate, maybe they could have all gotten out.

Had the pleasure of attending a presentation of Mr. Lamb. Several hours talking of the events at Mogadishu. He has a service dog with him. a couple times he had a bit of strain in his voice. His partner hanging around, taking it easy. It would pick up on his change of tone; get up and check on in. Kyle would give him a wave "its okay", and the pup would settle back down. Fascinating to see that.

How do he cope with the cognitive dissonance? Talking about the "noble Indians" and how "their land" was "stolen" by the US, while supporting Ukraine in their war for land that up until 1991 belonged to Russia?
I'm sure this dude also supports "our greatest ally" right now too. Which didn't exist at all before the land was given to them by Britain in 1948. How do you give a country that doesn't belong to you to a group of people? A "Colonial mandate". Oh right, also the volcano demon and their magic holy books said it belonged to them... I'd be willing to bet that most people have no clue what else their magic books say but you definitely wouldn't like it if we went around using them as guides to how everything should be. Unless you enjoy being referred to as "sub-human cattle that lack souls and exist solely to serve the chosen as slaves"? Or that a "child of 3 is a woman and can be married".. or that it's not a sin or a crime if one of the chosen robs, injures or kills a gentile.. But hey that part about the land Britain gave them in 1948, the land that didn't even belong to Britain, that's all 100% accurate. Give me a heckin' break.

@@forddriver8827I don't know about him being a Methodist and all, but if you think the King James Bible isn't actual recorded history as well as future and something you desperately need to learn from, which would make you desperately not good? Then you are desperately not good. The Gospel (Good News) 1st Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV faith fully on that is humanity's only hope.

    • @Glory_inthe_3rd77
      @Glory_inthe_3rd77 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Sounds like you may be missing some religion and maybe God is pulling on you in some way and I noticed you chose to say Methodist and you didn't say that you put your faith on what Jesus Christ did for you or you didn't word that in some other way because it sounds like maybe you're feeling like maybe you're not right with God because you're not doing some Deeds consistently or you're not saying sorry enough or something like that or you're not practicing something that someone told you you're supposed to be doing all the time in order to hopefully make it to Heaven one day and if that's the garbage that you were being told, you definitely don't need to study any of that again. I do encourage you to get a King James Bible and read it in context and rightly divide the word of Truth and don't study religion, study that. The Gospel (Good News) 1st Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV faith on that right there to be more than sufficient to forgive you of all your sins past, present in future is the only thing that can forgive sin and once you've done that the Bible says you're sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise until the day of redemption and that's the most important thing I hope that you understand because no matter what else you may, do changing your Behavior and trying to do everything that you believe to be a good thing and doing everything you can not to do what you believe is wrong also being baptized and any other religious doings, none of that can forgive sin and none of it can get a person to heaven not even remotely close and that is what God says in His Word. Maybe God is falling on you and maybe you're right with God already and God is pulling on you to get away from something that's missing you up in your life and maybe you're being pulled towards religion by some other influence and I don't know, but I do just wonder if these kinds of things when I hear someone strongly refer to the name of a religion instead of God and or His Word. Being a good person can get no one to heaven, that's religious thinking and that's the thoughts of many people in the world that if they do something good on Earth than when they die something good is waiting for them and that's what every religion that I've ever heard of in my entire life believes, but the truth is there's absolutely nothing anyone could do in order to redeem themselves with God other than putting their complete total faith on what He did for them. Just wanted to let you know if you didn't know already and who knows what you might have done since a year ago, but maybe someone else will see this either way always make sure what you believe is true and you can do that by looking at the King James Bible and making sure that whatever you believe lines up with what it says in context when you rightly divide it or else you're going to be confused.

What are your thoughts about using a circular/hash reticle like on the older MRO or EoTechs with a higher mount to give a second (and lower) reference point? High rise mounts with simple red dots just seem to allow for more slop when it comes to judging rifle cant and judging offset when transitioning between multiple targets in depth.
Currently running a T-2 micro on a lower 1/3 mount.

The irritating thing is people make Gary and Randy sound like suicidal, throw in the towel type people. When that’s not the case. A previous downed bird the little bird pilots swooped in and saved survivors and got them out before the enemy got there. Gary and Randy planned on getting a grab themselves. (any rescuer knows the jealousy we get when a friend gets a grab and we don’t). -- Mike Durant said it took a good 30minutes or more before the enemy started closing on the crash site. MIKE said when he told Gary & Randy he was NOT AMBULATORY, they both looked at each other like “Son of a B****, unhhh Shiii***!”. So most likely, In that moment they realized this wasn’t gonna be a Quick Grab & GO.
Unfortunately, they already committed to the rescue. Those that have performed high risk rescues will know, It’s a terrible sinking feeling when you realize you’ve got yourself in a “situation”. -- Mike said it wasn’t a rapid Mob attack. The enemy massed very slowly initially. As in a good 30-40minutes because the people were hiding in the houses. Then after 30min everybody started coming out, like “What’s taken place!?” Unfortunately Gary and Randy got delayed by Command and probably cost them there life. But it appears they had 100% confidence they could pull it off, (EXACTLY LIKE THE GUYS DID WITH THE 1st DOWNED BIRD)
people think skewing there intentions makes them look good. but in the rescue business we call it “Throwing in the towel, Quitting, giving up” at no point did they give up. They fought until they were dead. Which is far more honorable than making emotional decisions & being suicidal on the battle field.

Outstanding Interview & perspectives from both of you Gentlemen!
One thought - on the question of Wolf or Sheepdog?
My mentor was a World War 1 veteran & fought in World War 2 in the OSS.
He taught me - "Most people are sheep but some are wolves and sometimes You have to be a Wolfhound!"
He didn't even entertain the idea of the Sheepdog.
A Woldhound has an inborn instinct, it hunts down the wolves, Even entering into their lair & kills every wolf it finds!
I like both what Jack & Kyle said in their considerations of the question but I think the binary question misses the point.
There are not Only Wolves and Sheepdogs... There Are Also Wolfhounds!!!

I'd argue a Wolf is a warrior who'll hunt anything and anyone, where a Sheepdog will hunt anything and anyone that threatens their herd. One is unrestrained aggression and one is focused aggression. IMO they're both excellent Sheep Dogs.

Wow. Hearing the Sergeant Major talk about his dad calibrating his senses by figuring out which way north is. I realize that I’ve been doing that basically my whole life. The only time, so far, I’ve ever been lost in the woods I was about 8 or 9. I stopped to check out some rabbit droppings and ended up jumping one and lost my bearings. I sat down on a log and just looked around for a few minutes. And finally between looking at the sun and listening to the creek it just kind of clicked which way was north. Then I walked straight home. I did orienteering later in high school ROTC but only did very rudimentary land nav in the Army. It sure helped out when I started policing trying to figure out where the hell I was.
Also the Army taught me to make tourniquets out of belts and boot laces and chest seals out of first aid dressing and MRE wrappers. But after I went to the combat lifesaver course I carried an IV……
And one thing I learned in a class years after I started policing is that the sheep dog doesn’t give a flying fuck about the sheep he’s there to “protect”. He’s basically using them as bait for a chance to stalk and kill the wolf.

Some great advice and information here. I particularly like the discussion on the books you read. I met a former SAS chap of my acquaintance the other day. He never really talks very much. All the more reason why I hang on his words of wisdom. He told me the following as general pieces of advice: (1). Whenever you are in problematic situation with a group of people, always help out the person that you believe to be the weakest in the group. Help them, bring them along and support them. They gain from your strength and the group as a whole gains from this 'strength multiplier.' (2). Attack everything with a sense of humour. As the late Barry Humphries once said "if you are not laughing at yourself, you may be missing out on the biggest joke."
Keep up the great work guys. Best wishes from the town with "four thousand holes."

I think now today people should feel upset with people who use modern communications as a method of surveillance on common neighbors. Obviously this story in history serves as an example as to what people can accomplish by tracking and reporting peoples movements and daily routine. A lot can go wrong when you got a tick attached to your living and logistical situation

Jack, thank you for speaking about Jim Stockdale. My father was a flight surgeon for his air wing in ’65. Mom was traveling the orient w/ his wife Sybil and some of the other officers’ wives when the news came in that he was shot down. Bud Flagg is another aviator that should have his story told - from the Oriskany to 9/11. us

The wolf question goes both ways, yes a wolf would sniff out and take out the enemy, but a shepherd cares more about protecting not only the owner but also the sheep, a soldier aren’t the owner of the dog, but the dog would give his life both for soldiers and the dog handler. The wolf would only care about its pack and only the pack. A wolf is therefore a aggressor and the shepherd a defender. When you do operation to kill or capture a target, you should be doing so to protect your country. Difference comes were you are doing a kill or capture for reason of aggression and not protection. The enemy is the wolf and you are the shepherd risking your life to go outside the wire to protect and serve your country by becoming a aggressor for the purpose of defence.

It's always fascinated me how philosophical these Tier 1 and 2 guys are. Anybody can rattle off some bullshit philosophy that they barely believe in, but there is real conviction with these guys. Their beliefs aren't surface level and I assume that is something you need to make it to that level. You have to become a true believer in whatever your philosophy is. It's very similar to what radicals go through, but it's usually frowned upon to call the good guys radical.
