    Do you know what happens when you get a newbee bee wrangler, an allergic bee wrangler, and an old bee wrangler together to remove some bees from a house? An awesome bee wrangling adventure.
    What a great story this video is, a renovation project where bees are discovered and were scheduled to be destroyed. A new beekeeper hears about it and decides for himself to rescue them and asks if he can step in and save the bees. He watches some videos on building a bee vac and builds one for himself, manages to talk me into giving him direction to remove them, and then proceeds to make it a reality.
    For my part, other than calling my buddy Howard who lived very close to the job if he could stop by and give us a hand, giving Chep some pointers on bee hive removals, and shooting the video, it was a walk in the park. It may have been the first bee removal I participated in that I hardly broke a sweat, and it's August in New Orleans.
    For his part, Howard talks about developing an allergy to bees and how he continues to keep bees in spite of the affliction, as well as helping remove all the comb. What a team we made and the bees were removed successfully along with their queen.
    So, get ready for a great story, and a very happy ending. God's peace to all. Mr. Ed

      In New Orleans and most of the land mass in southern Louisiana, EVERYTHING is flat. In fact, if there is a mound of earth over 1 foot tall, it's considered a mountain. Jeff Horchoff Bees, I prefer Shrimp and Crab also!!! If I eat a crawfish it’s going to be the tail only! No way will I suck out everything out of a crawfish shell. I know exactly what the saltwater does that they are washed in before they are boiled. I spent a little time in Butte La Rose in my younger years enjoyed a lot of crawfish boils and they thought that I was wasteful because I only ate the meat out of the tail.

    • @michellejensen4090
      @michellejensen4090 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are 2 different kinds of venom, and you may not be allergic to bees. I'm a novice beekeeper and allergic to bees (found out after a few stings - I wasn't being careful enough), but I'm not allergic to yellowjackets. Get an allergy test to find out, and just take your precautions. Get a good suit that the bees can't sting through, some good leather gloves and boots/shoes that cover your ankles. If you live in a place where wearing boots is just too hot, you can add a couple of buttons to the bottoms of each pant leg of your suit and button some elastics down under your feet so that your suit goes over the edge of your shoes. Letting bees sting the crap out of you is not smart, since allergies can be developed over time - be smart and be safe :-)

      @@davidkirkman2223 I hear you!...I've been working minimally with my bees since my reactions worsened, but speaking with my allergist has put my mind somewhat at ease. LOL...you are always in the wrong place at the wrong time, if you are at the end of a yellowjackets pointy end ;-)
      I don't know what kind of suit you have, or what kind are available where you live...but if you have a more serious reaction to bee stings (even locally), you will want to look into the suits that bees cannot penetrate with their stings. The standard cotton or cotton/poly blend just don't cut it. More often than not, the kind you want is also more breathable, and thus far more comfortable either in hot weather, or when you need to have more layers underneath and sweat can dissipate. My season is just about over where I live in Denmark, but I plan to have one of those suits when the new season starts

      Will do! Everything at the abbey and the area around us is fine, Hurricane Laura was over 100 miles west of us. It was the strongest hurricane to hit Louisiana's coast in over a hundred years, about 150 mph winds. It will be weeks before many have power restored. Please keep all these folks in your prayers. Thanks for your concern. God's peace .

    When I was a kid my dad took my brothers and I to a place that I can't remember were, but they had a glass beehive in there store. It had alot of bee's. They were able to get out to do bee stuff, and a place in the bottom of the hive so they could get some of the honey right there in the store. It was so interesting because a person could see the bee's working inside the glass. It was a huge hive. If I remember clearly it was clear to the ceiling. Maybe 3 ft. wide/thick. Have you ever thought about creating one in the store. It would be very interesting for others to be able to see it from behind the glass. It was glass on every part. And could be seen from 4 directions. If I'm wrong about the size it would be because I was 9 or 10 years old, and everything looks enormous at that age. I'm l52 right know so it was along time ago.

    Although you can’t use the wet comb, can you still sit it out for them to rob it back instead of crush straining. Or you crush strain to keep the honey

    • @JeffHorchoff
      @JeffHorchoff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The comb is crushed and strained to retrieve the honey which will then be fed back to the bees through a feeder jar. That way, the bees can use the honey without fear of the hive beetles over running the hive. Thanks for watching. God's peace Bradley.

    It could be that he developed his allergy to bees because he has celiac. My mom has celiac, so I know quite a bit about it. It's an intolerance to gluten, and if you have it, even if you don't know you have it, you can develop all sorts of allergies. My mom didn't know she had it until she was in her 40's, and my dad didn't know he had it until he was in his 70's. My dad found out he had it when he developed colon cancer. If you have it and continue to eat things with wheat gluten in it, then you can develop all sorts of problems, and one of them is allergies that you never had before. So, because he was already around bees, and getting stung quite often, it could be that he developed his allergy to bees because he already had celiac. Unfortunately they can't test for it if you aren't currantly eating gluten. To be tested for it someone needs to have been eating wheat gluten regularly for at least 3 to 6 months, so with people that are already eating a gluten free diet, they often don't want to go through that just to get tested, especially when they already know that eating wheat gluten causes them a lot of problems. Anyway, just an idea on why he might have developed an allergy to bees when he was never allergic to them before. This was a good video, although I would rather have seen more of the removal, instead of the drive, as nice as the drive was, because video of the drive made me a bit nauseous. Other than that, still a good video 👍
