We take a look at the Ryobi, Dewalt, and EGO power stations. All power tool manufacturers. If you're going to get one, you should get one from a large power tool manufacturing group since it opens up the platform for future tools. Buying into sealed single battery system is just not a great idea as the tool life is tied to the battery and the battery is not necessarily interchangable.

*100% best **Generater.Systems** I have used. A test for hurricane prep here in Louisiana: three AC units, 5000, 5000 & 8000, 3 fridges, 2 device power setups, 4 flat screens....AND I had 40% of the power meter to spare.*
A regular gas generator, I’m sure you could, but would probably decrease it’s life span.

Excellent video. I love that it wasn’t sponsored either. I just purchased the Ryobi Power Station with four 40V 6mAh batteries for $1,069 from HD online and so far it’s been working great. Runs full size fridge and sump pumps mostly, but it easily does with no problem. Fridge only uses 10% of its load capacity.
Thank you! We’ve had 2 of the Ego nexus power stations for 3 years now. I use it every day for my all-electric landscape business. I think the slow charging has really increased the longevity of the batteries. Plus, we can pop on 4 at a time and get most of our batteries charged overnight. Great analysis. In winter power outages they keep the Xmas tree, fridge, router, gas fireplace ignition and a couple lamps going for days. So happy to have purchased it. Also, fabulous for camping. Used it for some remote schooling during Covid lockdown. Keep all the devices charged for a week.
If these had a solar power option with pass-through charging - I would love to recommend them for people to power off-grid cabins and tiny homes. Unfortunately, I can't without those features.
Yeah these were not designed for those purposes, although it would have been awesome if they did have that feature. For tiny house living probably better off with inergy, ecoflow, or bluetti

@@Panasyukvic yep it does, unfortunately, it cannot handle multiple solar panels in parallel so you are stuck to using there one solar panel to charge this behemoth. From what I've seen it takes FOREVER to charge. Also, you cannot charge it while it's in use (pass-through charging), only one or the other. So it is completely unrealistic for everyday use in an off-grid setup.
They don’t cater to your demands cause yours is a tiny market..🙌
FYI... If you calculated 20V max as 18V, then you should calculate EGO's one as 50.4V as well. EGO is not doing that, but it's actually 56V max. Not real 56V.
EGO battery contains 14 cells while 18V ones contain 5 cells. So you can do the math.

Interesting but you didn't mention any warranties with them. I'll probably go with the Ryobi since I already have the lawn mower and it came with two 40 volt 6ah batteries.
The Ryobi power station only generates 960 Wh of power with 4 batteries on. Its current price is 849 bucks, not 799 any more, with only 2 6Ah batteries. It costs well over 1000 bucks if you buy 2 more batteries and is too expensive.

i have the dewalt and the 300w ryobi...if the dewalt had psw inverter, it would crush the competition. I would how a line conditioner would work to clean up the sine wave

Can the Ego be solar charged while it's in use to run a power tool for example?
no. it cannot be charged and used at the same time. to be frank, none of the power staitons in this video are able to do so.
I’m waiting on a gen 2 ego, cause I like the ope better then ryobi but that ryobi does smack it out the park with the usb-c, compact form, jacket, and possibly the break thru feature parallel input to bad they dropped the ball with WiFi I wonder if I left a phone connected to the internet in range… hmmm really still anybodies game especially if dewalt comes with a gen 2

Love the info and have been looking hard at the Ryobi as I have several batteries and tools already. Only issue that I have is I'd like to have the option to Charge the Batteries via Solar Panels. Could I use the "ego solar panel charger" ? on the Robi or some other Methode?
Not any way i can see. There’s not enough info on the Ryobi inverter to show what power input it can take but the size of the input port makes me think it’s for trickle charing only.
For the fridge and induction burner 1 what batteries and how many for the Ego.Thank you
None of those will run a normal fridge for very long...........sure sure not 24hrs
If you are already in the DeWalt ecosystem, it is hard to beat the DeWalt PowerStation. Yeah, it is modified sine wave - but it will run some truly dificult loads (like my wire welder!). The other big advantage of the DeWalt -vs- others... it uses *normal* DeWalt batteries! Why the others have not figured this out yet is beyond me. No need to buy special batteries.
M18 version got announced. Not much info on it yet.

It's not working for many people (only bluetooth connectivity does work) so can you please do another video just for the wifi please???

Make sure your mobile device wifi is setup at 2.4gh. The ego wifi don’t work on 5gh. There’s a recent video showing how to do this.

You think the dewalt power station will be safe to charge small electronics like laptops, drones, gopro etc when camping?
Most devices will probably fair out well in the short term. Long term hard to say. But given the options available now days, there are probably better options out there that are pure sinewave if you are targeting small electronics.
even if any damage occurs, the damage will be on the power adapters as they convert from AC -> DC.

Anyone have any options that are a little less… high end maybe if that’s the word I’m looking for? Like I’d just kind of like to put a light in my shed and maybe charge my phone while I’m mowing without running extension cords through the yard.
Get the BLUETTI eb3a. For about ~$300 ish you can get it and a solar panel to keep it topped up.
Repurposed power tool batteries aren’t as well suited to powering an inverter as a dedicated LFP battery. I don’t see why a tradesperson or homeowner would cycle valuable power tool batteries this way.

what power stations can i use with a portable air condtioner that will last for days.
No power station without active input charging will run a portable ac for days. The power draw on an ac is huge. You would be better off with something that has solar input and pass through charging.. look at something like ecoflow delta pro with solar panels

Not a peep was heard about this. Even if they did it wouldn’t work very well due to the input capabilities of this the Ryobi power station. Only way that would work if they made a standalone solar charger with its own dock

Would like to let people know about a factory defect in the Ryobi inverter this does not mean that Ryobi has made a bad product it is in fact a good product but their second run had a defect to find out if you have a defective unit simply shut the unit off unplug from the charger put four batteries in the unit and let the unit sit for 7 to 10 days then check the battery in slot three if this battery has one or even two lights out it means that it has a drain that battery down this is a defect in the first run there was no problem you can let batteries sit in it for six months and they will still be full however after one year you should charge it at least once a year in this defect if you leave a battery in it longer than 30 days it will damage the battery in the slot with the defect not only will it destroy a battery and if this happens to you you can get it replaced by Ryobi because it will be the products file for the battery but the worst is you will only get 50% of the run time that you would get if you don’t have a defective unit so just check your unit out if you only use the Slots that Are not defective the unit should work fine just don’t use the defective slut and if you have a battery that has been destroyed contact Ryobi and they should replace it I do not know if Ryobi will replace the defective unit yet but I’m sure in the future they will Ryobi is a good company so if you have a defective unit don’t be too disappointed every single company has defective products
yep. every manufacturer has defective products that come off the manufacturing line. I think ryobi will warranty or replace it. Haven't had any issues with HD exchanging ryobi tools.
How many cycles do all of these batteries get?
If you open them up, most of them are using samsung, lg, or sanyo cells. which are mostly all the same. What will really affect battery longevity is the care of the battery packs.

@@4thewinak They could make an XGT-based ("40v" i.e. 10s) inverter. Not sure it would sell... so many people have all-cordless tools now, especially younger folks who didn't buy a bunch of corded ones to begin with.
