24-24 | Bosch PROFACTOR SDS-plus with SDS-MAX Performance | GBH18v-34CQN | ep.15
This 18V SDS-plus Bulldog 1-1/4 In. rotary hammer is powerful enough to provide corded-type performance for tackling heavy-duty concrete drilling or chiseling jobs. The Bosch GBH18V-34CQ Rotary Hammer delivers 4.3 Ft.-Lbs. of impact energy (EPTA). That is unprecedented for a single 18V battery-driven 1-1/4 In. SDS-plus rotary hammer. It weighs 10.8 Lbs. (tool only, not including battery). This hammer is part of the PROFACTOR System, which pairs BITURBO Brushless Technology with a CORE18V PROFACTOR battery. BITURBO Brushless Technology is a high-performance motor and drive-train system designed to deliver power comparable to high-demand corded tools. The anti-vibration system helps reduce vibration with a longer air cushion in the hammer tube and dampeners in the handle. The hammer has KickBack Control, a quick-release chuck, rotary hammer and hammer-only modes, a reverse setting and Vario-Lock to rotate and lock the chisel. The hammer features an on-tool user interface for tool performance, feedback and control. It has connectivity (module sold separately) to link to connected device via Bosch Toolbox App to customize settings and receive detailed feedback.
PROFACTOR performance - delivers corded hammer performance for an 18V 1-1/4 In SDS-plus rotary hammer
Superior impact - delivers 4.3 Ft-Lbs of impact energy (EPTA) for full performance in concrete when drilling and chiseling
Compact, lightweight design - weighs only 10.8 Lbs (tool only, not including battery) and is 17 In long for maneuverability
BITURBO Brushless Technology - featuring a brushless high-performance motor and drive-train system engineered to take full advantage of the additional power generated by CORE18V PROFACTOR batteries (sold separately)
KickBack Control technology - reduces the risk of sudden tool reactions in binding conditions
Quick-release chuck - allows for seamless change of the chuck from SDS-plus to a three-jaw chuck
User interface - on-tool display helps manage tool performance for immediate feedback and control
Anti-vibration system - helps reduce vibration with a longer air cushion in the hammer tube and dampeners in the handle
Robust power system - produces 0-2,900 no-load bpm and 0-500 no-load rpm

    I get that perhaps it's necessary to keeo weight down with battery products, however I dont understand why they feel that they must make all battery products plastic-y and of dubious quality. These should be built for commercial use, but there is absolutely no way you would rely on these to stand up for long periods of time with daily use. Even those battery covers, they look like they would break off very easily. The chassis doesnt look particularly strong and the wheels look like they might become brittle after a few years in the hot Australian sun. Electric mowers just arent there, yet, for commercial use.

    These RPMs and BPMs look like some SDS Max Rotary Hammer values, which are much slower than SDS Plus but with a higher impact force more suited for chiseling or demolition where rotation is not needed.

      @BoltahDownunder 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep, it's a modified SDS max tool. They've reduced the impact slightly from the max version (5.8j vs 7j) I think because the SDS plus sized striker can't handle as much impact

  • @marlowkenyon307

    what if you used this drill with bigger diameter drill bits? as the larger impacts might benefit for drilling larger holes?

    • @engineer_alv
      @engineer_alv 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      My guess is this won't be affected much by bigger bits, it will likely plow through about the same speed as if you were using a 3/8" or 1/2" bit. But it looks better suited for chiseling or demolition

    • @drewt6235
      @drewt6235 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Assuming the specs are right and the tool isn’t a dog (which is why I like these types of videos) It will certainly change the outcome. It’s all about how each tool is balance between its rpm, bpm & impact force or Jules of energy per blow. This tool for instance is going to do best @ about 1” which is why the last number in its title is 34 referring to 34mm or like 1-1/8” ish max diameter bit it’s “optimized” for or can handle well. While this not always on point. It’s a good way to start understanding what you’re looking for in a rotary hammer and once you got those concepts down makes the outcomes much easier to estimate. Thats why he was talking about this tool being a good chipping or as he was says, scraping hammer. Hope that helps.

    • @BoltahDownunder
      @BoltahDownunder 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep, it does. In my tests it didn't do amazing compared to smaller hammers while drilling smaller holes, but for big holes it's the king th-cam.com/video/tXF7bsv_HUw/w-d-xo.html

Dewalt also got some awesome sds max ones but obviously a whole nother class. 1 9/16, 1 3/4, 1 7/8, and 2". I have a 1 3/4 and 2" as well and they are awesome too. Honestly this was a hard purchase to justify, I am definitely in no shortage of DeWalt battery chargers, I might even have more charges than batteries actually.. But the ability to turn all your batteries into *Solid* battery banks is incredible I've owned plenty of battery banks- But that's the issue it's past tense, I have owned them and they have always died or gotten to the point where they can't hold a reasonable charge Drill batteries don't last forever of course But in my experience they will last 50x longer than any battery bank. I'd go as far as to say even if you don't have a tool hoarding problem it would be worth investing in this, and some batteries for your portable power needs Great purchase.

    UPdate: After owning this mower just under 2 years the battery life plunged. 2 replacement M18 batteries cost $ 500 !!! That makes this a VERY expensive mower to own. Very disappointed! I have owned many Milwaukee tools over the years and always found them to be high quality tools. Unfortunately, this mower a a major dud! You have to pay half the original purchase price every 2 years to operate it. I will be getting rid of it and going back to a gas powered mower.
