We have the top handle Dewalt at work and I have never liked it. I framed for 21yrs... Always used a worm drive say... I still have my Worm... the rear handle is much more ergonomic.. and have more torques. The 577 is for carpenters and former carpenters... the 578 that's for Destroy it yourself. The Trigger safety can't be in a worse place... They need to move it to a thump release. This all comes down to personal preference.. mind you a worm saw... weight has major advantages for cutting truss or rafter tails sheathing

Love this content, might be worthwhile to include battery system in your chart and price. I see that you have voltage, but e.g. for makita those are both lxt systems 1 battery vs 2. Price would be useful for understanding relative performance. Understand that price is hard, as there are constant rolling deals (e.g. this is going for $99 with another tool rn at HD), but could have camelcamelcamel esq pricing checks? This tool is a beast but it only really comes into its own when boring at larger diameters. For larger diameter holes, lower rpms and higher impact energy is preferred.

Mine is not working the battery is fully charged but the gun is not turning on it’s only a couple weeks old any thoughts on why it’s not working?

Great idea. I like these diy setups. I’ve definitely thought about building one of these vs an eco flow. And have built some small portable setups for camping. I would say the biggest pro of diy is you know how your setup works and how to fix it if it breaks. Plus diy is going to be able to be repaired diy since you already built it once. Eco flow I’ve heard has great support but you will have to wait for them to either ship you parts or walk you through a fix or send to them and wait to get it back. Eco flow is going to be smaller which is a plus in mY mind. And although yes they are stackable and expandable it does become rather pricey and you are stuck in eco flows system at that point where with this you can always upgrade without being stuck with says eg4. You can always switch to another inverter or even make this into an off grid setup or a backup for your home.

I dont see the battery listed on the link. I think you may have removed all the battery's from a different thing and put them all in that box.

He was using it the way it was meant to be used people, relax! I had the same thing happen on my dewalt 735 albeit after 2 years of use. The motors in virtually all benchtop planer models are housed in a plastic casing. A common problem is through overheating the plastic melts into the copper of the motor and you start to hear a weird chain dangling like noise. Also, don't be an idiot like me and ruin a $600 tool by constantly using it outside in the prime heat of summer!
