A man of your age really needs to listen to "Time" from this album; been listening to it since the early 70s and the older I get the more it resonates.
Been a Floydian for 52 years, since I heard Echoes off their Meddle album. That album just kept calling to me. Welcome to the world of Floyd. Thanks for the reaction, and please keep reacting to PF. These guys will change you, because they will touch your soul.
Pink Floyd does not play wasted notes. David Gilmour’s guitar is plugged directly into his soul. This album will blow you away when you listen to it from start to finish. Everything on the album has meaning. Welcome to the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. You life has just changed… for the better. Loved your reaction!
I'm so glad that you've decided to give Floyd a proper chance. I remember you saying a couple of years ago that you didn't like them and you weren't interested. Do yourself a solid and listen to the whole album by yourself in one sitting (all the songs link together) and I *guarantee* you will be hooked and want to listen to their other masterpiece albums.
I was born in 1960 and the ONLY hip hop or rap I've EVER heard was in a passing car or pickup truck with the powerful bass subwoofers. I wouldn't ever intentionally listen to that shit if it was the only music on the Planet. Period. !960s, 70s, and some 80s rock-n-roll songs were and are STILL, the best ever made. FACT.
PS. Far too many pauses. I realize it's your channel, and your gonna do what you want however, pausing 2 or three time during the song is enough then at the end, give your opinions. I really wanted to like this channel but, I was hoping you would listen more, talk less, then give a nice long review at the end. Oh well, you tried.
My man............., I've followed you for at least 2 yrs now. I know for a fact that you NEED to do a deep dive into PF!. You will Looooooove it!. Can't wait mate!.👍 Zebedee from Oz. 👍
Loved Floyd since i was a kid. Watching Comfortably Numb live at the Pulse concert gives me absolute chills no matter how many times i watch it. Totally recomend that if you never seen it. ;)
OK, final comment (promise!) The intro and outro are not original as from the album: they've been added because originally, each track on DSOTM blends into the next.
The ‘Wish You Were Here’ album will have a couple songs you’ve heard, but Shine on You Crazy Diamond is a MUST LISTEN. The entire album is dedicated to their former band leader: Syd Barrett.
Cool reaction. For me this is one of the best anti war, anti poverty songs ever written. Pink Floyd are masters at exploring the human condition. The first half of the album is about life from first breath to death. The second half is about money, greed, the futility of war, the haves and the have nots, the illusion of choice, and mental illness. This album is time capsule material, even the artwork is legendary. Look forward to you reacting to more.
Love how your really appreciate all the nuances and genius of PF. They’re in their own genre. When you begin to dive, you’ll find you hear many genres, just as you heard jazz in this one. You want to hear the best guitar solo of all time? Check out the song Comfortably Numb at the Pulse concert in 94. Im not exaggerating- it’s on record. 🎸
Yes Bro, the whole album, start to finish, once you get into the Floyd...there´s no going back, warning! it´s a big Rabbit hole, and once you are in, there´s no way out, truth is, you won´t want out......Enjoy... Peace.
I suggest doing all the Pulse concert songs eventually. The live presence is impeccably engineered. The sound quality, light show, and filing is simply amazing. It’s from their last tour in 1994 but they invested heavily in the filming of it.
The wind is only there at the beginning because this verison comes out of a compilation and what you hear is the end of "One of These Days". Same as the end, on the album it blends into the next song, it does not end with the echoeing voices.
Paused to type at " down and out". "Requiem of war"?. Now c'mon mate!.👍 I predict that your imminent deep dive into Pink Floyd will change your life and elevate your channel beyond your current perception of gravity!. You were made to disect this legendary band mate!.👍 I'm a Maori Aussie. (Mozzie) (slang for mosquito)-joke. Your reaction to Kasey Chamber's "lose yourself" is the best out there hand's down bbbbrutha!....., and I've seen all of them!. You are the perfect fella to do a deep dive into Pink Floyd in my book mate!. Let's do this bruv!. Start wherever you like for they are that unique, and just pure GOLD!. Thankyou. Zebedee from Oz.👍 Pressing play. Let's do this!.🤣💥
Typing during 2nd pause.😶😑🙄😆👍 Seriously mate-you have no bloody idea how many of us out here would revel in your take on this band's work!. Let's go mate!.👍 Zebedee from Oz. 👍
Pink Floyd rewards patience. ... I try to refrain from telling reviewers how to review. That's your thing. I do appreciate that you don't skip anything. Floyd fans are passionate but accepting. We critique and criticize, because we want others to experience what we feel. Don't take it as an attack, it's a love for the music. ... Talking over the music, sharing your gut feelings in the moment works for most Floyd fans. We don't like when the mood is lost. That said, I appreciate your taking the time to share a deeper train of thought that would get away from the music if you didn't pause. It's a delicate balance. Reacting to Pink Floyd can be difficult. It's not like other music. ... Enjoyed the reaction and looking forward to more. Yes, the band wrote albums, not songs. That's the way they intended you to hear them. Their songs can be enjoyed independently, but you're reading a random chapter from a book, and all the loss of context that entails.
The spoken words are answers to questions, that were asked to random people around the recording studio, like when were you last in a fight? and were you in the right? It's worth knowing one track in particular "Brain Damage" references Mental Health (something Syd Barrett struggled with, forcing him out of the band 2 years earlier) and Schizophrenia, "there's someone in my head and it's not me" So you get these random voices saying things that vaguely fit but over which you have no control.
Best music ever! If you listen to Pink Floyd album tracks individualy they may suddenly cut off at the end because each track flows organically into the next.
One of my favourites of theirs. Admittedly, this one is a huge fan. On surround sound, even in the car, it is an amazing track. It's a sublime, seminal album.
Hi EB, the album, with this song, was released late in 1973. Most of Pink Floyd's song lyrics can be interpreted in a lot of different ways. This is because their writing is often quite personally driven, meaning that it's written as if you already are a close friend, and that you know what the meaning is because you know the context and events that the writer is talking about. But that doesn't mean that it's meaningless. Somehow, the words paint a picture in your mind, or a movie even. You could call some of their writing "painting with words", but that doesn't mean it's meaningless either. These words, especially accompanied by that amazing music, bring about a stirring in our emotions, and then seem to centre us. One of the best concert performances I've ever seen on video is of Pink Floyd's 'Pulse' concert in 1994 in Earl's Court, London. It was re-mastered in 2019 or thereabouts, the sound is great and the definition of the vision is great. If you want to pick one to 'react' to, you could start with 'Comfortably Numb', from the 'Pulse' concert, it's spectacular and perfect. Just search for 'Pulse' 'Pink Floyd' 'Comfortably Numb - and pick the restored and remastered version.
The reason there are so many songs people have never heard i think is through all the albums they have the have only released 4 songs in the charts in 50 yrs
I’m an old jarhead who’s seen Floyd live, in 1981, 88, and 94 and we would have BOUNCED you outta our row in 2-seconds if you’d run your suck non-stop like you do here. I wish you good luck with your channel and you seem like a good dude but bro-ZIP-IT-and listen! I subscribe to dozens of “reactors” but only those who either listen to a song in its entirety and THEN comment, or stop it ONCE, maybe midway-through. Songs, like many things, lose their impact completely when you cackle-play-cackle-play-cackle-cackle-play. It’s like singing The Star-Spangled Banner “Oh say can you see?” (Then going out for a beer, coming back and singing “By the dawn’s early light…”) Now I’ll have some soup. Mmm. That was good. “What so proudly we hail…” Perhaps RETHINK your approach and see if your subscriber numbers don’t suddenly quadruple. Like I said, you are a guy I’d like to follow but until you stop butchering the FLOW-I won’t be back. Semper Fi 🫡
I was reading some industry research paper about how radio playlists work for establishing a new artist or song. Apparently, for the average listener they need to hear a new song up to forty times before it even begins to register in their memory, otherwise it is just background noise. This is different for "avid" listeners - people actively listening to radio rather than just having the radio on. This is why radio stations have such repetitive playlists and why, after having some stations playing all day in the workplace, you're sick of hearing the same songs over and over again. So, I can believe that people who have grown up listening to one or two particular genres of music - the Spotify generations - can believe that they haven't heard what the radio generations perceives as omnipresent.
The last chorus and last line in particular of this song I always find painfully sad. And as an aside it goes into at times my favourite bit of music ever. Not favourite Floyd but full stop. Any Colour You Like. An instrumental but it just blows my mind every time I hear it.
Start from the begining with the first albums and go on that Pink Floyd journey, you might not like the early early stuff but still required to understand where they come from to where they went, Progressive rock for a reason.
If you want to experience it full on, react to "Comfortably Numb (LIve Pulse Tour). You keep doing it your way. It is your channel and just ignore the naysayers and negativity.
def def def do "side 1“ then "side 2" of Pink Floyd "The Dark Side of the Moon" album. Tracks transition directly into each other and the album is basically a "Bible" for modern life. or, if you want to chill the fxxk out, do the album (not the single) PINK FLOYD "Wish You Were Here" this is all about founding band member Syd Barrett who was dropped from the band suffering severe mental health issues and the effects of drug abuse. It both celebrates and mourns his life in a truly beautiful way.
"never heard" reaction is really funny with tracks like Led Zeppelin "Immigrant Song" when the reactor goes... "WHAT? NO! STOP! SHIT I KNOW THIS SONG! SHREK!" 😂😂😂
that wind blowing isnt part of that song. It's actually from another song of another Pink Floyd album. One of theses Days from Meddle. And your not far off about the subject of the song, it's about social classes.
Most of Pink Floyds lyrics deal with the injustice of how we treat each other, including the socialist politics of the boss ( king, president , grand poobah ) who is superior and assumes the right to tell you who and what you are. In short, the band are anti socialism ( anti bullies ), but probably believe themselves to be socialists, like many good people have been educated to believe.
Do the album fully without breaks.. Only pausing between songs.. (although they all transition from track to track) the last 2 tracks, brain damage and eclipse should be played together, no break (as should the first 2 tracks, speak to me and breath.
@@EBReacts OK fair enough. But would love you to do it regardless. Maybe for folk who aren't on patreon, you could do a one track at a time on you tube but in order, in sequence as the album is. (bearing in mind the first two tracks and the last two tracks should be heard together as the transition would be lost if you didn't. By the way.. Love your comedy reactions, especially porridge and rising damp and open all hours. Cheers!
Any Pink Floyd fan will tell you to watch/listen in sequence, because it is as you thought with this one, there were earlier tracks to fill the gaps. And Dude, you gotta gap your thought processes some, because one tends to lose the context, rhythm & rhyme doing it line by line. Just a thought.
Reactions have to have certain things to meet fair use. Just letting it play would be more akin to a watch along. I also stop to give my initial thoughts so you get them in that moment. As it stands this video was claimed (which I'm thankful for since it wasn't a strike or a block) and the intent, way it's viewed, and all pillars of fair use were met with the reaction.
I’m new to your page . Sorry you break too often and say the incredibly obvious . This is a drift song but the more you pause the choppier the drift . Music is my soul .
OK, first off while your analyses are pretty darn good, this is NOT an accurate representation of the track!!! There is NO wind sound at the opening, and no echo at the end. Some asshole mucked with the track in this bastard copy. All the tracks on Dark Side of the Moon flow into the next track seamlessly, like how various movements flow in a real symphony. So whatever source you used here, do not use it again if you want the real McCoy! Next, Dark Side of the Moon is one of the highest selling albums of all time, for a reason - it is pure musical and lyrical genius. It was released in 1973. It also has exceptional engineering, and audiophiles then and to this day use it to test high end systems for their clarity, dynamic range, etc as a result it being so incredibly well engineered. Yes it tells a story, and why it will mean more when you listen to the whole thing from start to finish. When you are done, there is a documentary by the band on the making of as follows: th-cam.com/video/jUBnS5G34IM/w-d-xo.html ( PINK FLOYD - The Dark Side Of The Moon 2003 Documentary HD ) In the documentary linked above, Roger explains what the voices are all over the record, starting at time 12:36 and then he comments on Us and Them until time 16:02. (where by the way you can hear the exact transition between Us and Them and the next song - Any Colour You Like) In another section of the documentary, David says the following: "The big move forward on Dark Side of the Moon was Roger's coming of age... lyrically. And having the ideas and the intelligence to take a subject and examine it in all it's parts in all those different songs..." Roger then says: "It has some kind of universal appeal in that it confronts a number of major psychological and emotional concerns"
Well, I'll be reacting to the album, and I'm going to be putting as much of the full reaction as possible here on TH-cam and I'll be using Spotify more than likely as the source. I will say, if you watch any going forward, apologies for so many pauses. I do so for 2 reasons and 2 only. So I can give a genuine thought or reaction to what I'm hearing in real time, as well as to do my best to meet the fair use standards as far as a reaction can be. When I do the full reaction, if I can't put it in it's entirety on TH-cam, I'll wind up putting what I can on here and then later will have the full uncut somewhere that it can be heard for free.
@@EBReacts Well make sure you select a version that does not "cut" between tracks - i.e. select a version that includes the entire album. There is no dead space between tracks, except between sides of the album. And tip, Floyd Fans consider stopping during a David Gilmour guitar solo to be akin to blasphemy... You did stop a bit too often and doing so squashed grasping things by cutting off a particular phrase or motif. May I suggest going a bit longer, trying to stop at the end of a phrase, and back tracking once you share your thoughts. And finally you can split into more than one TH-cam video. Some people have split in two, others split into each track as to their reaction videos. Although you are stopping so often it is unlikely to be blocked for copyright, as a legitimate use is for teaching, criticism, or analysis...
I recorded a reaction to their performance of Comfortably Numb from the Pulse concert in 94. I let that breathe. IF that isn't blocked when I upload it, I'll try to do the rest the same way.
@@EBReacts Good. That guitar solo is one of the greatest of all time. Hint: the best Pulse concert videos are labeled "PULSE Restored and Re Edited". The others are distorted video and poor audio. Oh and Andrew Lloyd Webber stole the theme for Phantom of the Opera from an earlier Pink Floyd song called "Echoes" and they didn't pursue copyright on him, so they are not sticklers like say are the Eagles who block everything.
For sure especially these days. But at least for the duration of this video the neighborhood kids got a break from this guy telling their skateboards are too loud and to stay of his lawn.
@typ044 I don't tell skateboarders their too loud or stay off my lawn. More kids need to get out these days and my lawn is way off the road so if they make it back to my lawn, they're lost or up to no good.
@@EBReacts It's just a metaphor for your stereotypical grumpy old guy disposition in this video, not an actual accusation of yelling at kids on skateboards or lawn's. Not saying that's who you are, just how you came off, no explanation needed or expected, just my unchangeable opinion on how it sounded to me. And yes I know opinions are like assholes, I don't take any of this seriously so explanations of how you interact or view yourself in "real life" would fall on deaf ears.
I’m sorry but you are as bad at reacting to things being new or never heard it before as those you mentioned in the beginning of this reaction. Not for me.
Us and Them is a statement about the human propensity towards division. War is merely the end result.
A man of your age really needs to listen to "Time" from this album; been listening to it since the early 70s and the older I get the more it resonates.
Definitely!
Yeah. Same as 'One Of These Days'.
Abso-bloody-lutely!
After a while you realize that Floyd are a genre of their own.

I'm so glad that you've decided to give Floyd a proper chance. I remember you saying a couple of years ago that you didn't like them and you weren't interested. The 70's were a bummer, and this music reflects that😅
After the 6th pause, I thought to myself 'the comments section will be interesting'
Thanks, I got 3 minutes into the intro, you've saved me being disappointed.
Yeah... ya get what ya pay for...twice 😂
I'm out. Second time I've tried watching this reaction and 4 pauses in. Thanks for the heads up.

The ‘Wish You Were Here’ album will have a couple songs you’ve heard, but Shine on You Crazy Diamond is a MUST LISTEN. The entire album is dedicated to their former band leader: Syd Barrett.
That "slightly odd" ending is simply because the album transitions into the next track which is an instrumental.
🤗 Subbed for Pink Floyd! Looking forward to DSoTM reactions! 🥰🐰
'Time' is clearly the best from Dark Side imo.
Speak to Me/Breathe is the best
Richard Wright was way beyond an organ! (Great reaction.)
My son introduced me to Pink Floyd. My son has the Pink Floyd concert of PULSE
I’ve subbed just so I can watch your Pink Floyd experience😊

Pink floyd is a deep and awesome rabbit hole...94 pulse concert can't go wrong...comfortably numb and high hopes...well actually all great songs...
You tried to explain what was happening to you. There's no need. You have a new favourite band.
There are a Few Versions of the LP by Various folks. Mi Fave is the first version of Dub Side Of The Moon by the Easy Star All Stars. They did two.

I've even heard the Red Army Chorus sing "Sweet Home Alabama". Too many of us today are not capable of abstract thought.
I have not. I'll have to find that.
A frustrating watch.Imagine the constant pauses in the middle of Gilmour's solo in 10:48 Comfortably Numb....would totally ruin the vibes!😢

"never heard" reaction is really funny with tracks like
Led Zeppelin "Immigrant Song" when the reactor goes... "WHAT? NO! STOP! SHIT I KNOW THIS SONG! SHREK!" 😂😂😂
that wind blowing isnt part of that song. It's actually from another song of another Pink Floyd album. One of theses Days from Meddle. And your not far off about the subject of the song, it's about social classes.
there's heavy metal, but Floyd were always the heaviest band
Most of Pink Floyds lyrics deal with the injustice of how we treat each other, including the socialist politics of the boss ( king, president , grand poobah ) who is superior and assumes the right to tell you who and what you are.
In short, the band are anti socialism ( anti bullies ), but probably believe themselves to be socialists, like many good people have been educated to believe.
Do the album fully without breaks.. Only pausing between songs.. (although they all transition from track to track) the last 2 tracks, brain damage and eclipse should be played together, no break (as should the first 2 tracks, speak to me and breath.
Don't know if I can go without breaks until the end of songs. I'll forget too much of what I want to say. Especially if "enhanced".
You broke the ruleby st op it more then once
do great gig in the sky (live pulse ) studia is also special and worth listening thou
and eclipse
No podes cortar la canción cada 10 segundos. Son un desastre flaco.
Way tooooooo many stops and starts , man. Let the music breathe.....pun intended.
I think you such listen to sorrow by pink foldy
Too many breaks no point in hanging around 😢
I alway say stop more then once you broke the rule
SuperTramp vibes, 👍
not even close m8.
Too many interruptions
I’m new to your page . Sorry you break too often and say the incredibly obvious . This is a drift song but the more you pause the choppier the drift . Music is my soul .
1973
how about shutting up and listening.
You cut in too much
OK, first off while your analyses are pretty darn good, this is NOT an accurate representation of the track!!! When you are done, there is a documentary by the band on the making of as follows:
th-cam.com/video/jUBnS5G34IM/w-d-xo.html ( PINK FLOYD - The Dark Side Of The Moon 2003 Documentary HD )
In the documentary linked above, Roger explains what the voices are all over the record, starting at time 12:36 and then he comments on Us and Them until time 16:02. (where by the way you can hear the exact transition between Us and Them and the next song - Any Colour You Like)
In another section of the documentary, David says the following: "The big move forward on Dark Side of the Moon was Roger's coming of age...
Anti war
F**k up about the organ dude
I disagree - it's perfectly plausible and highly probable that someone under 40, whose a hip-hop/rap fan, would not have heard anything from Floyd.
You talk more than i can handle. Im out....
I never heard it becauae i don't listen to that shit, dr dre who??,
I’m sorry but you are as bad at reacting to things being new or never heard it before as those you mentioned in the beginning of this reaction. Not for me.
You talk too much!
Pause pause pause pause , stopped watching
