Thank you for all your suggestions in diagnosis from the last video - well done if you mentioned the EXUP valve, buy yourself a Cornetto. BUT - Please stop saying we ignored your comments - this video was shot before the other videos were even broadcast - therefore, we couldn't possibly read the comments, because they didn't exist! Also, it wasn't the EXUP valve itself, that was operational - it was the cables which stretched and broke over time, hence why it was not so obvious. Many other little jobs which were well worth doing were also completed here so nothing was lost. Much Thankings 🙏

A thought about that original rusty old plug you removed, are the drain holes at the bottom of the plug recess blocked. Mine were when I bought a 26yo RF9 and number 2&3 plugs showed similar heavy rust staining, causing a major misfire in the rain, something you will run into during an autumn trip in Barvaria, but glad you've got her running sweet

Quick trick to check the coils: feel if one of the exhaust headers stays cool longer than the rest. If it does, swap around the coils and leads (swap connections to the CDI as well) then feel if the cold pipe heats up faster. If it's running on 3 and each pipe heats up the same, your misfire is jumping around. If it does change your cool pipe, change the coils back but keep the leads swapped. Then isolate to coil or lead.

My old 1995 yzf 750r was dyno jetted to 110+ bhp, but later on it used to bog down if you gave it a handfull, so i took it RLR (ricky leddy racing) turns out the emulsion tubes and needles were badly worn (common on yzf,s) jesus what a difference, it was smooth/fast/felt like rocket ship in comparison to how it was before, that induction noise was epic on your dyno run,.so your problem was the exup valve being disconected !, just goes to show how we miss the simple obvious things when trouble shooting , i took mine to the ring with the yamaha riders nurburgring expierience 1995 , probably the best 3 days of my biking life, i hope you have as much fun as i had, i went back there a few years ago on my R7 OWO2 it all came flooding back, good memories/good times/good mates/good bikes, enjoy 44T,...P,S,.why is it you remind me of sue perkins, lol,.

It’s taken me about 4 years of watching these videos to realise that Chris not only sounds like, but is the spitting image of Tom Ellis, the UK actor who starred in “Lucifer”
I can certainly understand “Baron Von Grumpy’s” attitude!!!! It makes so much sense!!!!
Keep it up lads, love the videos!

I was feeling your pain there at the beginning lol similar dealings with my GSXR K1 1000, except mine was the fuel injectors, fuel pump. Always a great feeling when it all comes together and they run how they are supposed to.

Superb content as ever! Really glad you’re getting the bikes properly sorted prior to the trip. I know that the trials and tribulations of a breakdown or poorly performing bike make for good content, but I’m looking forward to a straight up battle between these two brilliant bikes without one being handicapped 😊✊

I had one of these in my early 20s with the same problem, local mechanic had my pants down trying to solve the problem and in the end I ran out of money and had to sell it. And here James in a day got it sorted. What a legend lol
