Haha im glad im not the only one that noticed the scoring on that piston, if your gunna put this much effort in then damn replace the tiny piston they cant cost much for that bike.
What blows me away beyond the restoration is that he’s not just restoring these things, but making sure camera angles are all good and edited correctly. Masterful work. Deserves more subs
I owned an actual DT50 back in the nineties, it sat outside in the rain and sun for years abandoned and looked a million times better than this bike. 😂
Dear Colleagues, this is an almost perfect reconstruction of this two-stroke motorcycle. Honestly, the piston looked pretty good. Maybe you should measure the compression pressure. I give it 9 out of 10 points. Congratulations and best regards 💖👋😀.
Nice effort. There are a few things that were not very good though. For sure I would have replaced the piston (and maybe a cylinder overhaul). Being an off road bike a correct air filter also matters a lot, so I would try to find an original filter housing. At 20:50 I just cringed when he puts the grinder in the fork bracket (seriously?!?) There is obviously a bend in at least one of the fork legs (you can see it when he turns it while putting it in). Then there are the wheels.. bent rims, not even taking off the old tires to check the inside, and not replacing the way too old tires. Now.. when you are on a budget I see that you must make choices, and some of the things you could easily do later on, like changing the chain and sprockets and the tires.
Not the creator answering but they used paste-like paint remover you find at any hardware store, and the front sprocket can be painted over with spraypaint, same thing with the steering bar
This is not Complete restoration, you spent a lot of time on this bike which is good, but you made a lot of mistakes such as: you should change clutch, piston, piston ring, cylinder, all the bearings, all the seals, and many more mistakes were done during your assembly, your one of the rims was bent, and you just respray them. Try to make a quality content next time. I’m restoring the bikes and i love it.
Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Team, Valentino Rossi, Cooper Webb, Fabio Quartararo, Alex Rins, Eli Tomac, Justin Cooper, Calvin Vlandereen, Andrea Locatelli, Remy Gardner, Jonathan Rea, Dominique Aegerter, Bradley Ray, and Philipp Ottl, will gonna love this.
Very pretty, but what about the state of the bearings, the bore of the cylinder, the piston? That engine could be totally shagged but you didn’t check. Or did you already know that it was ok…………?
Nice restoration BUT as motorcyclist, why did you reuse those sprockets. There hooked so bad. There only good for the bin. You should of changed them while you had the wheel off.
Cool video, but why not replace the worn out parts while you are in there? That piston should have been relaced and the sprocket. It's one thing to make it look pretty, but why not make it WORK well too?

Saved from the scrapyard and given new life. All that work paid off wonderfully
Unless this motorcycle had some personal meaning to you, I am not sure it's worth that amount of work.
@@theelephant2887 for an old yamaha dt its worth, they dont make dt 50s anymore

I think so ...
A new piston & rings would have restored much power maybe a new air filter also.
Haha im glad im not the only one that noticed the scoring on that piston, if your gunna put this much effort in then damn replace the tiny piston they cant cost much for that bike.

The tyres and the air filter. Are they the old ones my friend???
step one, take a decent bike , sand all the paint off the steel parts set outside to rust claim total restoration
Rusty plastic and aluminium too... faked.

Very good thank you 👍👌♥️🌺
871k subscribers and you still didn't shout that old bike a new chain and sprocket set....smh
Nice, my first bike was a DT50 back in the mid 80’s. Brought back some fun memories.
Old school ❤
In a full restauration using the same tires and painting the rims with the tires on it????!!!!Only me that think this is suspicious???!!!
Can never understand that there would be more grip in an ice cube
And the rear sprocket is completely done 🙃
Indeed, this is a respray... Cleaning the crap Chinese airfilter.. 😂
What a visual restoration..
This guy is a clown, using power tools to install bolts and not actually restoring anything just painting and cleaning

The inside of that engine (transmission, clutch etc) looked very low hours. Great find!! And nice job!
Why go to all that trouble and leave the obviously worn out rear sprocket on? Not to mention the rusty pitted forks!
Jesus loves you,Jesus saves ✝=❤
And Jesus rides Yamaha?😂
You didn't even realize that the motorcycle stand was dangerously low, almost touching the ground.
The sproket is death😮😊
What was in the glass to remove the fuel cap rust? Vinegar and salt?
I think it's water and citric acid
Very nice😀

what paint stripper did you use? and on open metals how do you keep from rusting like the gears and/or bar etc??
Not the creator answering but they used paste-like paint remover you find at any hardware store, and the front sprocket can be painted over with spraypaint, same thing with the steering bar
Nice!! 🎉 end the next! Maybe a Triumph 74??
This is a derby or someting similar.. not a Yamaha dt for sure .. only the seat cover

what solution were you using for the rust and on radiator cap and bucket of bolts?
You can use white vinegar and baking soda. Let it sit overnight and/or 24hrs and you should be good.

Good restoration journey but could have given good colour scheme / original colour scale
Hey great vid you did an amazing job.
What paint stripper was that you used as it seems really good.
How come you replaced the cylinder after last video? Didn't just cleaning it work? And it doesn't seem to rev too well either

I know you're trying to restore and not replace, but a new stand spring and a new piston wouldn't have taken away anything from the video
This is the first time I see a radiator on a motorcycle.
hi man, what have you added with salt in the glass to clear that part from rost
Cool video, but why not replace the worn out parts while you are in there? That piston should have been relaced and the sprocket. It's one thing to make it look pretty, but why not make it WORK well too?

Ficou show a restauração. Abraços.
What chemical are you using to remove the dirt on each engine part?
That's amazing
The back sprocket is junk
Mas será que o escapamento não ficou podre por dentro depois de tantos anos?
Why have you added rust?
Nice restoration. Owned a similar bike to this when I was young, but massively trimmed with an extra gear. Pretty fun
