As the owner of the van, I cant thank Tony enough for sorting this mess out for me, the amount of work he has put into it is was far more than was expected but it shows in the quality. I saw it today for the first time in a few weeks and it blew me away!! I can't wait to get it back now and get it built up ready foe next year. Thanks again Tony!!
Well we agreed at the start mate that no matter what we would make this something you loved again and I hope we’ve managed that for you , was my pleasure mate
yes tony did a great job for you and I know you will recommend him, to all your friends, I've never advertised always word of mouth that brings work to me, do a great job for someone goes a long way.
Don't spend a second worrying about the lost footage; Your body prep and spraywork are the best I've seen: Great results as always. Look forward to the next vid.
Loved the info on air pressure painting nooks and crannies on the bus, now I know why my fairing mounting holes wouldn’t cover doh 🙄 Keep the vids coming.
Dear Tony. I think it is very, very important to cover some parts of the car before painting, which I noticed you pay very good attention to. While some car painters do not care. This is the difference. Thank you Tony . Magnificent Tony👍👍👍👏👏👏
I'm doing one at the mo.. done many vans over the years.. it don't matter how much you block it out.. to get perfect straight panels..soon as it driven on uneven roads the shell will flex putting ripples back in it...
Hey Tony I figure you were spraying with a 1.2 at 1.8 bar or a little less. Were you also about 2 turns out.or less. spray looks really fine and good coverage. that is why I figured that you were maybe 1.5 to 2 turns out. max. Nice and slow so you can see that you got everything painted and covered.
L345 is the original colour of my bus. Kinda sorry I didn't go back to that. Its a lovely colour that's very different in various light. Great job as usual Tony 😁
hi tony I like that you put that bit more effort in for your customers, and to be honest so do I would rather be highly praised than slagged off and the word of mouth for the extra bit of work pays off in the long run, nice job bud.
I always learn something when I watch your videos because I am a novice when it comes to paint. It may be too late to ask but can you include a clip about how you compound and polish it and what products you use to do that.
A cracking job as always mate like I said before if people watch the whole van paint from start to fin people will then realise just how much hard work and how much time goes into a paint job especially a full quality paint job like you do, so like I said a good job mate I know its daft but I miss painting cars vans and trucks the biggest thing I ever painted was a 18 wheeler combo people have said to me why do I miss working , I've worked all my life you can't just switch off doing something you love doing, keep up the good work mate
Il be honest this one was about what I expected in some ways we knew it was going to be a nightmare from the start abs that wasn’t down to the customer but people Who have let him down in the past , the honest answer is on most jobs like this I give a price range from one to another and it usually ends up then somewhere in between
Wooow Tony you go hard on this one boy o boy what a finish and those masking spot on Tony classic job keep up the good work and am waiting on the next part of the video Tony lol 😂 much love and respect ✊ Tony 👍👍👍👍👍👍✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊💪💪💪💪💪💪👊👊👊👊👊🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌👌👌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Honestly man you’d laugh if I told you lol , they were that bad we cut them out paint stripped inside it all painted it , then welded it all back up over it , then plugged the gaps all the way through the rear of the process so we didn’t mess it up inside lol
@@TonysRefinishingTV that is funny. The only other guy I knew who fixed the problem on a beetle cutv the shelf out from below and chromed it. All the others I see look like hell. Nice job. Thanks for reply.
Looks fantastic. Just checking, was that the same MIPA epoxy you used at the start you have also used as a final coat to seal in the primer work? I’m Also working with the MIPA 4+1 primer and will be a few months before I do the final colour so thinking I could seal the finished, flattened primer work before I get to the final paint? Thanks for the great content!
@@TonysRefinishingTV yes I already have epoxy over my bare metal. I thought that was a thin layer of epoxy you put to cover the patch up putty? I’m concerned about leaving the primer exposed to the elements.
Fantastic job mate the old bus looks mint and has to be better than new. Please don't beat yourself up about the lost footage Tony I know it's a shame but it's not your fault plus there is nothing you can do about it now, it seems to be a built in feature of the gopro it's aim is to piss it's owners off, all the years these camera's have been out it's really annoying as to why they don't sort these bugs out 🤷 You were using the green fine line tape so can you tell me what the JTape Orange 6mm is like and what the difference is between the colours, someone has given me a tin of blue candy and a new reel of orange fine line so was wondering what the orange tape was for, cheers mate 🤗👍
The way I like to mask with paper or foilwrap is to put the paper or wrap slightly below the actual line I am working on. Then I add another layer of tape on top to make the fine line. That allows me to pull the tape around the line while the paint or topcoat is still little sticky, but leaving the paper/wrap in place. Easier to pull tape than flapping with paper sheets around a tacky car. Gives a better finish too
in the process of a full resto on my 73 Bay, all the welding/new panels in, epoxy, fill/flat/fill/flat etc and now I am thinking of using the Evercoat Optex superbuild or the Slick Sand to seal it all up and give me enough build to get straight - have you ever used either on a VW Camper?
Hi, just like a little advice from an experienced painter. I work in the furniture/kitchen refinishing business and currently having problems with the level of our 2pac gloss level being reduced once it has cured. The paint rep has advised us that we are applying the correct amount of build which is 200 to 250 microns of paint yet the problem still occures. I was thinking that the amount of thinners is a little to much @ 30% of a 2/1 mix which might be taking out the body/gloss of the paint? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Tony, I notice your boys at SP Supplies don't carry Sagola. David told me in an Email a while back that they were trying to get Sagola but hadn't yet been able to. Do you know if this situation has changed and if it will? I bought several Walcom Carbonio guns from David when he was "at that other place" but Walcom's prices have gone insane. In my view both Iwata and Sagola are the best bang for the buck in the current market and I sure would like to find a reasonable source for Sagola.
Not yet mate I believe talks are going on but no word as yet fella if there’s any change there though I will mention it on the channel so you guys know if they are being stocked
