Thanks man ! Playing since aoe 2, now I can enjoy this masterpiece without having to buy a crazy pc. Still need a lot of training on a controller, but your tips helped a lot ! Greetings from France ;)
Man, the left trigger hold for queue action is exactly what I've been looking for. I've been manually controlling my scout around the map wondering where my shift click was on controller. Thank you for that!
Great guide, thanks a lot!! I have only two grioes with the selection/microing on console: 1) you can't select units from a larger group through icons (there's no similar action as cycling with tab on PC), which I hope they'll fix somewhere dow the road; and 2) you can't check the units' stats when you click on them. The in-game manual does state that you should press A on a single unit to show it's stats, but that sinply does not happen: what you get is the simple (example) "horseman - light melee cavalry", but no stat whatsoever. No attack, no attack speed, no armor, etc. That really makes it harder for people to study the civs in-game, train and plan ahead. Other than that, this seems like a VERY GOOD controller implementation for a very complex RTS game, which is no small feat. The Relic guys (or was it other stufio) really outdid themselves.
The D pad switching should have been right stick directions, you have to take your thumb off RS to then press D pad, but you can roll LS in the menu, then use RS to change it to economy/military etc
Best way to control units? What happens when I have 3 armies attacking on different sides of the map? How to flick between them? As far as I can tell the best way seems to be the 1-10 preset radias but that's slow/cumbersome and I'm hoping I'm missing something easier.
Im really loving this on console. the controller is not as bas as i thought it would be. Killing it atm with HRE fast castle into burgrave men at arms spam been doing me very well
Do you mean build a town center? You can do so in the 2nd age. It cost 400wood 350 stone and is located at about 8 o clock on the economic building radial
@@FitzBro nah it’s in the Russ campaign you gotta buy three trade posts and turn them to settlements literally doesn’t tell you how to do it so I’m just stuck and the pc version has a menu that you use that doesn’t exist on xbox
@@FitzBro appreciate the reply! Closest I can get is selecting a group, then hold down B. A read cicle appears and allows you to direct a think yellow line in a direction. Once I have the direction, while still holding B, I hit X. Troops form in the direction I want. But, it's a bit hit or miss. Hopefully we get an update one day!
How do you remove units from a group without deleting the entire group? Like if I had 50 archers in a group, and wanted a few of them to go join a different group.
To remove specific units you're seeing on the field, you just hold LT and press B. It's really the opposite of selecting them with A. However, if you're not seeing them (such as when you select all of your military and want to send just one specific type of unit somewhere), then... I don't know how to do that. It would be the equivalent of cycling the icons with tab on PC.

@@jamesmiller8262 dang, I haven't played the campaign. Hopefully someone else knows!
@@jamesmiller8262 I've got the exact same problem, and can't find a solution.
@@jamesmiller8262 that's a campaign only thing. Settlements don't exist in Multiplayer. I'm guessing it's either from the TC or a villager
Did you cover the setting for numbering groups of units? Im completely lost trying to find it.
Should be l1 r1 at the same time. Select a group of whatever. Press the l1r1 then select 1 through 10.
How do you get to the technology section? I am having a lot of trouble figuring it out and cant progress
How do I upgrade my Town center to increase the population, after building few houses it maxes out. Thanks

Anyone figure out how to rotate groups of troops so they face the enemy? Really hard to fight when they are facing the wrong direction 😂
I don't think it is possible on Xbox sadly. I've seen others asking the same question.

You have to use a monk to complete that action, or destroy the monastery.

Annoyingly when you rally like this it also rallies your docks which is not ideal if your training fishing ships
