The faction guides will continue, but I wanted to bring these essential tips to you first as I noticed quite a few questions being asked out and about that I thought needed answering. In my games I notice my opponent is always able to build a military waaay quicker than I am and ends up wiping me out. I usually build as much villagers as I can without sacrificing proper military but still am not able to build fast enough
About the market distance. This has been discussed extensively in AOEII forums with excel files an such. The general idea is indeed to have them far apart but the reason is that you need to avoid the carts delaying each other by "crashing" on each other while moving back and forth. If you manage to have them closer and avoid delaying the carts then you should also have good results. Apart from that, I would like to add to the tips that shift clicking a unit, queues up 5x of that unit. That used to work the same when buying and selling goods at the market. Shift clicking would buy/sell 500x of that resource instead of 100x. However this doesnt work, at least yet in AOEIV
yeah, it seems like it was only partially implemented - units queueing works just fine, but using market to sell any bigger amount of resources is a pain. BUT, I found out you can actually hold down any key responsible for buy/sell, eg. buy stone is D. if you hold down this key, you'l buy incrementally raising amount of that resource.
Maybe as a little addition to the waypoints: If you play as the Mongols you can also set a waypoint for your pens so your villagers don't have to run around to collect the sheep.
in regard to game not recognizing incoming change in scout's status by picking up carcass - I've managed to make it work several times, although it does seem to be buggy and it doesn't always work. I noticed that the direct indicator whether you'll be able to queue deer kill & deliver carcass or pick up relic & deliver to monastery is a change of cursor's face - if it remains an arrow and doesn't switch to hand with a little triangle, scout or monk will in fact only walk towards specific building but they won't deliver their payload.
Oh man yeah memorizing hotkeys is _key_ :D hqqqq (select 2 vills) qq (select 1 vill) qq (select scout) ctrl+1, shift+clickclickclickclick The start of every good AoE2 match (if you use the DE layout that is... and unless you play Huns, Chinese or Mayans of course ^^)
I started playing RTS about 3 months ago. I’m honestly fascinated about early civilization wars so this game is just badass. Think I’m getting addicted to playing it
Hi, anyone has any idea how to manage the farmhouses after being invaded? Like I get invaded I tell my villagers to run away from farmhouses but then when I want to assign them again to each farmhouse, I get confused about which farmhouses are already in use by another villager, cause they might be out delivering food to the town center so they are not in the farmhouse so I don't know if I can put a villager in this farmhouse or not, any ideas??
I assume you talk about farms, so wheat or rice. You just need to select all your villagers and rightklick on one farm, the villagers will spread out evenly, if they can't find a free farm they will go idle, so you see the icon light up. This also works with the rallypoint of the towncenter. Take one villager and give him the order to build multiple farms with the shift klick, now if your rally point is on a farm the new villager will automatically search for an empty farm. And as a last Tipp, if your farms are around the townhall and you get raided, just select your villagers and hit the g key and your villager will run to the nearest garrison, which usually is the towncenter. If it's save again select your towncenter and press d and your villagers go back to work.
What's the best way to "select one of many". For example: I selected multiple villagers and I want them to build a tower each. I selected multiple scouts and I want each of them to go to a different place. I selected multiple horsemen and I want each of them to atack a different vilagger.
@@odium5288 not sure how much it is, i did that with flight simulator so i think I lost/used the $1 deal already but thanks for reminding me, I'll check how much it is currently.
Other than the campaign, I am finding the game to be very hard. I get crushed in skirmish mode even in easy mode. A lot of things are hard to learn when your scrambling to stay alive. I would like a nice slow game so I can figure out how to build, advance and use all the pieces. For example, how to use traders and priest. These are probably useful but I am scrambling to react to attacks and keep things productive. My brain is not as fast as the computer.
I never figured out how after building a mill, one can just spam a button and farm-orders are automaticly placed around it? i've seen it on streams and cant figure it out. and are there other tricks like that? Thanks in advance, anyone :)
@@MournBringer0 Thanks, my guy!! Haha, tried it right away, and its sooo much easier. Is that Just for farms, or can we do it with other buildings aswell?
Don't know how I bumped onto this. All in all Damn good video 🙌🙌. I also watched those similar from mStarTutorials and kinda wonder how you guys create these vids. MStar Tutorials also had amazing info about similiar make money online things on his vids.
Such an useless video. Make one talking about stuff people don't know like: pressing F1 selects all military buildings, CTRL+Shift+C selects all military units, H selects the town center. You know, stuff specific to aoe4 which people might not know. Those are essential tips. "shift click queues order" is not -- this is a fundamental thing which every single RTS game out there has and if someone doesn't know that, then this is definitely their first game of the genre. Literally low effort in this video. Had to go out of my way to dislike this.
@@qoe_shiro Beginners to AoE 4 or beginners to gaming? Granted that this is a gaming channel, I guessed the first one... Yeah, for a "beginner who hasn't ever played a RTS game before" that is a essential tip. You got me there. What other essential tips for beginners are worth making a video about? Right click gives orders and you can hold left click to make a box and select multiple units? Maybe you can press CTRL+1 to make a unit group?

One thing empire earth 3 did was allow you to tell specific troops to prioritize specific types of units
Nice, the usability is the problem, need confirmation line or icon when U are moving to the fog area for example. the icon doesn't change-

making long distance trade routes increases gold brought back, but isn't that equally offset by the time it takes each trader to complete the run?
If it is anything like the other games in the series, the scaling is not linear and favors longer routes.

First step for beginner: Play the "Art of war" chapters.
how do you get it ot show you the hot key per item piece etc> is that a setting ? 12:38

How do you set up a “hot key” what is a hot key?
How to select all the barracks at once?
i just wish they would put a pause button on this game. I hate trying to learn keybindings

how to activate hotkeys keybord in game like in 12:22 ?

Create a Custom game with no opponents. Then you can play with everything in the game and learn with no pressure.

Select a farmer, choose to build a farm, hold Shift, several clicks on mill ... done. It gets virtually instant if using hot-keys
