    0:00 History of Mandalore
    2:14 Easter Eggs
    Okay, they cover most of this in the recap and in the episode-and we’ve also talked about the history of Mangalore in our recap video. But I’m going to go over everything very quickly, skip to the next chapter if you already know everything about the history of Mandalore.
    People settled on a planet called Mandlore, a field with giant monsters called the mythosaur-that’s the beast we see at the end of the episode. The early mandalorians learned to ride them [your people rode great mythosaurs]. The planet is also the galaxy’s only source of a super hard metal called beskar. They were all unified by tarre vizsla, wielder of the darksaber, which is why it’s a symbol of mandalorian rule. But then the mandalorians fight civil wars for several hundred years, until finally they choose a pacifist government.
    The non-pacifist group, called death watch, is exiled to mandalor’s moon Concordia. Bo-Katan, from this episode, is a member of death watch, while her sister Satine ruled mandalore as a pacifist state. The clone wars happen, death watch and darth maul conquer mandalore, Bo Katan teams up with Ahsoka Tano to reclaim it-and like BoKatan says [i ruled here briefly]. Because the empire forced her out when they took over the planet.
    Years later she’s given the darksaber by another mandalorian, she leads her people against the empire, and then this happens [explosion]. Scattering mandalorians across the galaxy, with Bo katan losing the saber to moff gideon, which is all the backstory before this show begins.
    There’s a bit more to it than that, but we’ll cover more lore as we go along.
    The Armorer’s previous monologue is from an episode of the Book of Boba Fett. I’ve said it many times, but it was really silly to haveDinand Grogu reunite on that show, just sayin’. Anyways, her dialogue is key [foretold mythosaur heralding a new age]. Now we talked about this last week, but the Mandalorian seems to be moving away from the western and samurai influences of season 1 and 2, and now expanding into a story that is a full-on biblical epic.
    Which is a good band name.
    Chapter 17 was titled the Apostate, which is a person who has left or been exiled from a religious community. It begins with the baptism of a child, and this episode ends with a baptism. And the stone tablet that Sin has contains a passage from the Book of Exodus-and to paraphrase, it’s about the Jewish people being promised a good land to live in, after they escape slavery in Egypt.
    And, in a very brief summary of the book of Exodus-the Jews were enslaved in Egypt, Moses was the chosen one who God appointed to lead them out of slavery and lead to their new home. There's a lot more to it than that, but for the purposes of this episode, that’s what you gotta know. So all of this comes together in this episode.
    There’s a prophecy of the mythosaur rising from the waters-and here we see the mythosaur still exists. The real question for the series is, who is going to be the Moses figure in the show? The armorer says [bo katan wanted to rule by blood]. See, the darksaber works like the elder wand-you can only win it by taking it in combat. Bo Katn didn't come by it honestly.
    In the canon we’ve seen, Pre Vizsla had it in the clone wars [clip]. The darth Maul on it formed pre vizsla, and left it in a temple on Dathomir. There it was found by Sabine Wren, who just sort of claimed it for herself, and eventually gave it to Bo-Katan [clip]. Because bo katan didn't win the saber, she failed to unite the mandalorians under her rule-because groups like the children of the watch don't recognize its legitimacy.
    Now, gotta point out that the rules are funny here. Obi wan beat pre vizsla, didn't win the saber. Ahsoka tano beat maul, but didn't win the saber. Obi wan beat maul, didn't win the saber. Moff gideon beat bo katan, and then Diajarin beat moff gideon-but since Bo Katan never should have had the saber, that means no one wins it, right?

      If Din just fell off, he would have fell down straight, vertically. For Bo-katan to reach him, she was diving at a downward slope, jot straight down (which she would have if din simply fell directly down from where he was standing). There is no way Din would have drifted that far from where he was standing to where he ended up if he just sank.

      100% that is the way they are going with the series which is something new and cool in the Star Wars universe, at least I have never heard of a Yoda's species as a Mandalorian. It would also be cool now that I think of it is they finally revealed what species Grogu and Yoda are, that entire things presents a huge possibility for deep back story etc. I think everyone has wondered what species Yoda is, and now with Grogu it's even a bigger mystery really.
      But I do love that he teaches him as a Mandalorian father would teach his son, and Grogu while using the force, is serious about learning 'The Way', and considering the timing, once again big events seem to happen around Yoda/Grogu's species, in the original series Yoda was tied to the fight against the evil Republic which without Yoda likely would have taken over the galaxy, at least for some time, and now again just as we see possible the rise of the Mandalorians species, and likely the start of seriously bigger events... which Mandalorians will be clearly at the canter of, rise of a great power in the galaxy again.

    I love how tender Din is with Grogu this season. Prior, you could tell he loved him but kept a part of himself at arms length because he knew he was going to have to give Grogu up. But now that’s all gone. When Din told Grogu “it’s Mandalore, the homeworld of our people” my heart melted. ❤ He’s totally in Dad mode. 😭😭
    As others have mentioned, Peli lost the tooth during the battle in Bobba Fett and you missed how the oath was interrupted (like with the kid in ep. 1) before we got to the “removing your helmet” part. I think that foreshadows how Din will focus on the important things of the Creed - honor, community and bring some tolerance - instead of the trappings of the religion, which at the end is what never removing your helmet is. It doesn’t serve any practical purpose other than ceremony and division.
    And I mentioned tolerance because instead of fighting with each other, Mandalorians will learn to respect how each practices the religion instead of trying to kill each other. I don’t think Din will ever get to a place where he’ll show his face all the time but maybe with those with trusts and love.

    I think this episode is hinting that Grogu is able to communicate/connect with different life forms and sometimes able to 'encourage' them to act without realising they were stimulated by The Force. It's also possible he can achieve the same effect with non-organic life, such as R4.
    It's all subtle things Grogu does during the episode... but they happen a few times, suggesting that it's not coincidence!
    He may be a lot more switched on than he has shown before!
    We might get to see this season being the teen Grogu years, and then next season the adult Grogu.

      It’s not great that we got basically the same episode on two different shows starring the same actor.
      That is a defining trait of lazy writing…. and this proves it’s systematic

      Hes not Pulled under, the weight of his armor pulls him down to the bottom of the hole as he steps off the ledge of the bottom, and he took off his jet pack, so she had to save him with hers. then they just see the Mithasour on the way back up, it doesnt just touch him and then let him go, that wouldnt make any sense.

    Mama Bo, papa Din and baby Grogou fighting a Mythical Mandalorian Beast from the history of Mandalore and taking over as a family is something I'm totally behind, plust both Din and Bo have taken the plunge into the waters of mandalore, so technically speaking the only thing between Bo and Din as far as ruling goes is ownership of the dark saber.
    And also dave Filoni and Jon Favreau do know how to do star wars and "strong female characters" Ashoka, Bo Katan, Barriss Offee and the likes are proof, they are like all other people badasses but flawed not fucking Rey, let's just say that the Mandalorian and the Bad Batch are giving me Hope star wars is not dead

    I really think Din can make the case to Bo that SHE now is the rightful owner of the Darksabre. It was taken from him, and she claimed it back and used it to defeat the thing that took it from Din. I'm not sure if he's aware of that though, but if they talked about what happened, I think the "logic" of ownership puts it into her possession. I also think that her having seen the Mythosaur that it could spark her to either (a) trying to tame it, or (b) it inspires her to be more like Din...no longer removing her helmet. She too bathed in the waters, so she could be seen as redeemed by The Armorer.

    • @daefaron
      @daefaron ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The thing about helm is an extreme view of the creed, not a correct one. It's also noted in this episode how little Din knows of the culture of Mandalorians, like the soup or other aspects. He vaguely knows of the planet, but nothing of the history.
      At some point they'll have to sort out the creed, because it's impossible to unify the Mandalorians with the Children of the Watch's belief.

    • @jeanettecarnell8933
      @jeanettecarnell8933 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @sentinel7672
      @sentinel7672 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@daefaron Beyond this, even if they could unify the Mandalorians with the Children of the Watch's belief, it would just doom the Mandalorians to a slow death. After all, the Watch's view on the creed essentially limits the Mandalorians to foundlings (basically children they discovered and adopted) for their cultural survival.
