I was in a store as lockdowns lifted and while browsing I saw a guard player level a deathwing focused army with a baneblade. Canon wiped out a squad and heavy bolters got lucky dealing with another couple squads. Lascanon and demolisher helped finish off a few. Got a lucky charge and those adamantine tracks leveled one of the last terminators. This guard player was the luckiest player I've ever seen. And both had a laugh. Makes me want a baneblade
If you like jank the baneblade is where it's at. The entire game can be determined by a single roll of the attack amount dice on a unit that hits on a 4+. Rarely have I seen a baneblade roll 'average'.
The trick is to have sooo much dakka... that not only do you shred the enemy to ribbons... you also shoot their bullets out of the air! My orky thought for the day...

Yes PLEASE try it agains my 30-40 necron warriors list + some immortals and scarabs and some tomb blades! Please! That is easily over 80 shots with - 1 /-2 ap str 4 to 5 per turn while reanimating and engaging in pointless combat your most threatening units witg scarabs! Beautiful!

I do kinda dislike that there are those weapons that just outshine all the others in terms of usability (normally being the variety of plasma/melta equivalents when it comes to shooting) I understand from a meta standpoint that’s what you want to use but I just wish other weapons had a space somewhere.
I find the opposite is true. A volcano cannon that hits a grot SHOULD kill it, but fortunately they roll a 1 failing to wound the grot Oo 40k with its increased scale really does need auto wound implemented into it
I mean there are still places for sniper rifles (can hit characters), artillery (ignores LOS) and flamers (anti-infantry and always hit) - ordinary weapons can't fill the same niche they can. It's just that people in tournaments aren't very daring with variety.
I agree with the others, honestly volume of fire is generally much better than powerful few shot because of the ability to fail the hit or wound roll. Volume is incredibly consistent in landing wounds
One of the things I think get rather underutilized are Grenade Launchers. Because they're a versatile choice, able to do either anti-infantry (frag) or hard single hits (krak).
@@Bluecho4 I honestly think that many grenade launchers could use a bit of a buff, too often they fall flat and a buff would mean lists like Custodes could run Allarus custodians without sacrificing as much
I think Lightning Lock Moirax are the best overall unit in the game for their points, they can kill anything with the decent strength firepower, They have an inv, high toughness, mobility and decent armour combined with some strong strategems and house buffs. .

A fully buffed squad of Bloody Rose Repentia will kill pretty much everything. When a problem is faced with 36 S6 AP-4 D2 attacks with full rerolls on attacks, exploding 6s, auto-wounds on 6s and +1 to wound, the problem WILL die.
Ah, but you're forgetting both the exploding 6s and the fact that Morty's a psyker, meaning the +1 to hit strategem comes into play. So 30 hits on average (24+6), of which 6 will be auto wounds, making for 18(24/2+6) wounds. If we can get really cheeky and assume that's there's a Canoness with the Word of The Emperor ability nearby, Morty is denied his invul for the phase. The AP-4 denies him a normal save as well, meaning that average rolls will JUST give him the necessary 18 wounds to kill him. Sure, he has a 5+ FNP. But he's also 490 points, meaning that there's plenty of room for a second and third unit of the chainsaw ladies.

Very good advice and video as usual. Been struggling a lot against marines bringing 20 Vanguard vets and 5 (FIVE) Dreadnoughts with both -1Damage AND invuls... Looking at your video it seems the best way for both defenses is mortal wound spam, and lots of Fire dragons\Bright Lances with Jinx.. (I play Craftworlds). I end up removing most of fix damage 2 Weapons from my army as against Death Guards they are just too costy for the use. Keep up the good work, you''re truly helping players become better :)
There's a reason DG players don't often use them. I don't think assault centurions are very good against the field, though. Also, any flat 3 grinds up plague marines pretty easily.
@@davidbowles7281 Sad that they are supposed to be the generalist dudes in the DG roster, who can kinda do anything, from object camping, to shooting, to melee, to action monkeying, but all that means is, you can find someone WAY cheaper / more efficient to do any of those actions in just about any given situation. What kills them for that role imo, is their special weapons are way too expensive. 5 per weapon would have been pretty good, but 10 is just too much. A decently kitted out melee 5-man PM squad costs like 145 points. You can get 3 Deathshroud for 150, who do that job waaaaaay better, and are much tankier to boot.

I've found that the best universal weapon profile at the moment seems to be S6, Ap-1/-2 Dmg 1/2 with tons of attacks. It chews through most things in the meta and with rerolls it threatens anything up to T8/9. My custodes list spams this in the form of venatari and guardian spear allarus - with anti tank being filled in by a telemon and a bike captain w/missiles
My favorite profile as guard Str 8 (or higher) Ap -3 (or higher) D6 damage Haveing 2/3 of these things are a minimum preference It forces things on invuls, punches through -1 damage, and punches through -1 ap things. It wounds most things on a 2 or 3+ Demolisher cannons or multi meltas or lascannons are my favorite. Followed by battle cannons and plasma

Above poster is correct. The rule does NOT counter the reinforcements rule in the core rule book and thus that still applies. But it's not a big deal. What you do is: put your unit that you want to pull in a corner of the table. You CAN beacon units turn 1 from the BOARD. E.g. Terminators start on the board. You advance the biker with the beacon turn 1 and NOW you beacon the terminators forward. Just put them on the table. :)
10 Red butchers terminators with 2 lightning claws. Charge and watch as your enemy need to weather 61 hits with rerolling wound rolls. Use Veteran of the Long War and Stoke the Nails if necessary. If the target somehow still alive, dont't worry as you can fight ONE MORE TIME

Several ways. E.g. shove a rhino in their face. They are cheap fast and chonky and even if the opponent destroys it, it's 80 non-essential points as opposed to valuable rubric marines. Other cheap chaff units that form a perimeter to block CC units are also fine.
So I've been playing the game wrong then. I usually move to shoot dakka. Then move and shoot more dakka. Then charge and krump. Then repeat until Orks iz best or I lost.
This is wrong. The mighty lasgun kills everything with the same efficiency. Guardsmen, first rank, second rank! Death guard, necrons, admech. All die to mass lasfire.
Funny enough... the lasgun at S3 is just as effective at hurting T4 and T5. This makes things like the Hot-shot Lasguns surprisingly effective with their AP-2. Of course, if they have that aura of -1 Toughness, they'll wound you on 2s with their S4 Bolters, but hey, a squad of 5 Scions is just 45 points without upgrades, not terrible.
I'm guessing some find the statistics a bit bewildering ... there is hitting, hurting, wounding, killing, and at least as importantly, the effect of attrition on what some call "unit cohesion (integrity") in this Game (leadership ... morale) so yes they are right "BIGGER GUNS!!!" and when they look at a multiplication table, they yell "Numbers!" But, two dice and a calculator, there are some pretty cool aspects to this game between not drinking the paint and ten vindicators. 1d4, Goonhammer's Mathhammer, others. Or, for the "More Guns" and the "Those are Number's" crowd - understand the value of one or two low damage flamers in a squad "that hit automatically" is because Overwatch is 1 in 6 - Boneheads. Force: Stave, Sword, Axe or Maul - a 20 Point Hammer or pay for another dude altogether? "NUMBERS!!!!" But I play Murder Clowns with a Morale Bomb and my Alpha Legion did not have all of the latest Primaris stats for Weapons and ours sucked so we stole it. There was a LEGEND of a CSM Alpha Sorcerer "Headhunter"on a Bike with Hydra's Teeth and a 20" move that was one of us but the Primaris Chaplain on a Motorbike did not know it until activated, and there were Mauler Fiends and Forges Fiends out of Astral Egypt more powerful than ours, so we stole some of them too. I suppose it sounds 'Heretical' but it's just Numbers and Guns dude, and knowing what is really going on in the really "real" Meta. Nevermind - It's only paint, plastic and dice, but I owe the purity of that to Trovarion. Get good enough though and you are no longer playing the opponent's army you are playing against your adversary. Food for thought.

Plague Marines. High damage melee worked great against them. My Assault Centurions destroyed a squad of 10 of them.
And that is why they don't have Core anymore

Playing as TS and I just smite tanks with cabal rituals and that 3 MW from TS stratagem. By turn 2 they're dead.

as a guard player, bringing 5 shadowswords should be enough
So I've been playing the game wrong then. I usually move to shoot dakka. Then move and shoot more dakka. Then charge and krump. Then repeat until Orks iz best or I lost.
This is wrong. The mighty lasgun kills everything with the same efficiency. Guardsmen, first rank, second rank!
Death guard, necrons, admech. All die to mass lasfire.
Funny enough... the lasgun at S3 is just as effective at hurting T4 and T5. This makes things like the Hot-shot Lasguns surprisingly effective with their AP-2.
Of course, if they have that aura of -1 Toughness, they'll wound you on 2s with their S4 Bolters, but hey, a squad of 5 Scions is just 45 points without upgrades, not terrible.
I'm guessing some find the statistics a bit bewildering ... there is hitting, hurting, wounding, killing, and at least as importantly, the effect of attrition on what some call "unit cohesion (integrity") in this Game (leadership ... morale) so yes they are right "BIGGER GUNS!!!" and when they look at a multiplication table, they yell "Numbers!" But, two dice and a calculator, there are some pretty cool aspects to this game between not drinking the paint and ten vindicators. 1d4, Goonhammer's Mathhammer, others. Or, for the "More Guns" and the "Those are Number's" crowd - understand the value of one or two low damage flamers in a squad "that hit automatically" is because Overwatch is 1 in 6 - Boneheads. Force: Stave, Sword, Axe or Maul - a 20 Point Hammer or pay for another dude altogether? "NUMBERS!!!!" But I play Murder Clowns with a Morale Bomb and my Alpha Legion did not have all of the latest Primaris stats for Weapons and ours sucked so we stole it. There was a LEGEND of a CSM Alpha Sorcerer "Headhunter"on a Bike with Hydra's Teeth and a 20" move that was one of us but the Primaris Chaplain on a Motorbike did not know it until activated, and there were Mauler Fiends and Forges Fiends out of Astral Egypt more powerful than ours, so we stole some of them too. I suppose it sounds 'Heretical' but it's just Numbers and Guns dude, and knowing what is really going on in the really "real" Meta. Nevermind - It's only paint, plastic and dice, but I owe the purity of that to Trovarion. Get good enough though and you are no longer playing the opponent's army you are playing against your adversary. Food for thought.

use a sledge hammer, your opponent can't use the model in the game when it is in tiny pieces on the floor
