    I have the net gear Orbi and I hate it. It’s non stop issues. Very inconsistent wifi coverage and stability. Don’t buy it.

    Just know you can't change the channel width from 40MHz on TP-LINK Deco Mesh systems (BAD) and you also can't manually change the channel of either band (ALSO BAD). Bottom line, look for a product that can set these options automatically, but does allow you to manually change them if needed.

    My biggest issue with ORBI is that you can't select or limit the band preference per device. On my TP LInk decos I can, so I'm able to force 5ghz on certain devices and it increases the chance my device will be handed off to another mesh router as I move. VS orbi which will always dictate it and sometimes it'll throw devices onto a "3 bar 2.4ghz at slow speeds" vs keeping it at a "1 or 2 bar 5ghz at fast speeds". In my case, 2.4 = 20mb vs 5ghz at 60 with those bars respectively.

    Given that WiFi 7 routers are going to remain expensive for some time, is it of any significant benefit to people with internet service available at max 1Gbps, and not a single device supporting WiFi 7?

  • @BenDMitchell

    So I have Xfinity internet and I am still renting out my gateway. Do you suggest me buying my own modem and router? And is the modem you mention in this video the one I should get? And do you think the Orbi is the best router/mesh network?

    Purchased a Linksys Velop 3 node system which was barely mediocre, so I purchased 3 more nodes for a 3000 sq ft home.
    Not horrible, but nothing to write home about...and it was expensive.

      Looking to replace our Velop mesh (3 nodes), if you don’t reset them every 6 months they consistently lose their connectivity and the speeds slow. It’s incredibly annoying

    • @bearnuggets
      @bearnuggets หลายเดือนก่อน

      The whole point of a mesh router is to get away from a standard router, you are better off purchasing a regular router. Mesh transmits the signal more evenly throughout a home, which starts with 2.

    I have a problem with most of them. I live in a high rise building which means the last thing I want to to blast my wifi all over the place. What is important to me is how many high speed ethernet connections and how to mask my wifi so that other don't see it. On any given time I can see atleast 50 strong wifi signal while I am on the 10 floor of a 17 story building. Anyone with a crack device can easily hack into any of them. I already had 1 person hacking into my router faster than I could change passwords. The following are my requirements:
    1) High Speed Ethernet 10 GPS
    2) at least 4 more ethernet ports
    3) at least able to support 3 wifi devices with password protection and block from being seen by others.
    I do not need a mesh system. Any suggestions?

    TP-Links lose connection intermittently after a few months of use. Because the TP-Link specifications are good but in use they are bad because they have a lot of bugs.

    • @e2rqey
      @e2rqey 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is you house wired for Ethernet? If so, the best solution is to get an additional router which can be set up as an extender over Ethernet. That way you aren't reliant on connecting your extender via WiFi. Since that basically puts you in the same connection problem, just with your extender instead of your endpoint devices.

    • @viniciusataidedealbuquerqu2837
      @viniciusataidedealbuquerqu2837 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      wifi creates 50/50 bandwith between the nodes. since wifi is not full duplex. so every node in between will decrease speed by half

    Thanks for the informative video. Are you able to change which Wi-Fi channel you want on the deco mesh systems? I have an old Orbi AC3000 triband already reached its end of service per the website and it all allows me to change which channel I want in the settings. Just wondering if Deco allows it. I’ve been considering a new mesh system. Thanks

    Don't buy Netgear if you care about MLO technology. Wifi7 standard has been finalized back in January of 2024, a year later and Netgear support still using the excuse as wifi7 is not finalized why MLO has no been added in a firmware update. I doubt they will ever enable it on current product line.
