What if a Factory Automation Game was a Roguelike?

- ShapeHero Factory is a game that fuses the factory simulation, roguelite, and tower defense genres. Use different shape combinations to mass-produce a variety of heroes, who will then fight all on their own. All you need to worry about is building the optimal factory to manufacture them.

Man… this would make for an incredible DS game, factory on the bottom battle on the top.
And the artstyle would also fit so well on a DS.
"You were probably screaming at me the whole time."
Yes.
Yes I was.
same
There's clinically insane and then there's whatever I just witnessed you doing with your conveyor belts in this game. Pure unadulterated madness
It's like Olexa NEVER played Mindustry
The way my brain tried to understand how his brain works gave me so much headaches...
Olexa exuding confidence and not reading everything directly followed by sheer panic and failure *chef's kiss*
Not hating, you gotta make dialogue and shif but also that was hilarious
Stop posting such interesting rogue likes, my wallet is burning
Time to eat white rice this month

Random Unwanted Advice: Joining two paths just to immediately split them is a bit silly, and seems like a waste of resources.
That's not necessarily true:
If the inputs have wildly different rates but you want to split the output 50/50, a merge followed by a split can be just what you need, as long as the single line in between can cope with the rate of both inputs.
@@entropyzero5588 In that case, yes... I had thought about that, but I was speaking of the case where the inputs are the same.
@@Bluhbear Likely a habit from factorio when everything is chaos and the input rate is just all over the place lol
The combat angle gives a new form of motivation for optimizing your factory for speed and efficiency.
Thats the rule of the internet.
If it exists,
theres a rougelike of it.
Can we have a r34 rougelike? Like is that even possible. Seems like it would cause some sort of spacetime duplication glitch
@@shadowofdeath8000 That depends on what one means by the term "rougelike".
In the more traditional sense one could call Portals of Phereon such. By traditional sense i mean the only thing you keep from "run to run" is your understanding of the game gained from previous attempts, with a lot of things being random.
Not truly r34 as its not art of preexisting characters though, but a good game, really, even if you stripped all the sexrelated stuff out of it you have a combination of Battle for Wesnoth style turnbased combat with Creatures that you can catch and breed (and find interesting results of combination of crossbreeds, i believe it was magical girl crossed with centaur that gives unicorns, plantgirl and mermaid... or merewhateverthemale term is, obviously it has to be male and female respectively... or one of them futa, that would work, too. That gives its been a long time so i dont quite recall, but it gives you oxygen under water.
In more recent times, many have come to understand "theres progression between things" as rougelike, when in my view thats kinda the opposite and makes a rougelike into a rougelite, but if thats what one was to mean by it, you keep assets, skills and such of the owner in Slavemaker 3 between slaves you train.
And yes, i couldve mentioned a lot more about portals of phereon such as resource management, base building, war with one of the gods, either evolution or creation, satisfying the kings demands or facing issues there,... Good as only a game not restricted by conventions could manage which well such a game is not that marketable so it isnt constrained by those conventions, and as such...
Very suddenly in agreement
God, you do not understand the level of pain you're giving me.
This feels like a game you could totally do a full series on!!
Thank you Olexa, for making me realize I can never be in the same room as you while you play a factory-like game lmfao. Like bro I love you and everything. But GOD D A M N the spaghetti lmao
Spaghetti always go nicely with a side of sushi!
@@GamingStepByStep there aren't two lanes of items on the same belt tho, unless you mean like mixing and matching on the same belt lmao
sphaggeti my beloved
The funny thing is- that was the entire demo! It ends when you press the next level- so... perfect timing on ending things there, haha
Please do more! This is a fun series!
Also, it looks like a lot of outputs can’t be directly linked to other inputs, they seem to need a conveyer belt. Your horse production got stopped up because the duplicator seemed to be having this issue.
Its kinda funny you stopped right there as the demo ends the moment you try to go on :D
very fun game definitely wishlisting.
I ended up with some super combo of getting duplicators together with a mega unit that took a lot of time to produce, lots of choices.
This is almost great, they just have to iron out those frustrating cases like machines not being able to output directly from one to another.
Also just have a factorio-like splitter, it's one item instead of 2 and you don't have to worry about flipping it all the time.
Also add a cut-and-paste for when you need to move your build a few tiles and the game will be great!
2:54 on the other hand, having access to much of the final content gives players a much better understanding of the game and iff it's for them
Not to say coming soon tags are bad, rather both ways of marketing a demo are fun and great to attract attention
Every factory Player had a heart attack and died when they saw you'r factory Design
I love how you stop right before the demo kicks u out of the run
This is not a gripe, just an observation:
Some of the menu sounds are exactly the sound my nose does when I'm stuffed and try to unstuff it without using my hands and my mind hears this and processes "wow, my nose is stuffy, feel feverish" until it realises "Hey, my nose isn't really stuffy, stop fever" and loop.
But I feel like this is a very niche problem and nothing the game needs to fix in any way
The system is so damn space inefficient, I was yelling at my screen for most of the damn video!
so after playing the demo, olexa ends RIGHT as the demo ends, it ends after the first boss but ascensions exist
I need more of this. I love this game.
this game looks good, I just dont know if I can handle the time limit. if they remove the slow time feature and just let you build while the game was paused, I would be all over this. maybe they will make that an option at some point lol.
EDIT: you mentioned shapes 2, I so cant wait for that. not sure if youve been following development, but theyve done some really neat things.
There is an option for you to build while paused
I dunno, tried the demo myself, had tons of time to do everything needed to beat the levels... like by a large margin. Even if you find yourself a bit slow I'd imagine just doing what you can in the time limit and then getting used to the patterns you'd be fine after a few attempts.
I really don't think the game is as chaotically hard as Olexa makes it seem, but I guess that depends on how you plan this stuff.
@@rosicap.5142 I will have to try it then. from the playthroughs ive seen they only have a time slow feature that is limited. being able to build while paused would totally subvert that mechanic. but I will try it, thanks!
@@myclamish well ive watched a few others play as well. even if its not that hard, the fact that the timer exists just frustrates me. its not the style of game I enjoy. if the timer is so lax that its not a struggle, then why have it? I do think I will give this a try though.
@marcbennett9232 Yea the option that let's you build while paused restricts you from getting some achievements, but it's still nice for playing
After playing factorio everything seems irrational and i'm screaming inside "wyd??!?!?"
FACTORY BELT GAME NUMBER 13!!!! LETS GOOOOOO!!!!
Great looking game. Wondering how do you find these. I love rouguelites but not good at reflex based ones ie shooters
What a madman, calling „circle“ an „O“…
i tried the demo and it was honestly amazing
i was so confused during the whole mage creating tutorial oh my god what were you thinking
Those genres usually NEVER permute, and competent people tried their best.
the genres have mutually-exclusive gameplay mechanics in their core (loops).
factory size must stay limited and mostly mobile-modules, hard constrain to fatroy-genre.
combat must be separated, and be mostly auto-battler.
As someone who doesn't like factory games or whatever they're called, I think they did a really good job
I won't lie, It was painful at the start but you learn fast
It would be called "Plateup!"
bit random but emberward (the cute tower defense game with tetris blocks) releases in like 2 weeks, do u perchance plan on playing it?
That would be interesting, perchance.
Yo, I really like this one
Love the videos although have to say there are not working symbols for a reason 😂
Cool shapez-like. At least, here your decisions have consequences.
When he noticed he made enough normal dudes to unlock the upgraded one and he then chose not to pick it, I cringed so hard 🤣
Also the fact that he did not pick up on the fact that the odd smiley that shows up is because it cant output kinda annoyed me, but it is a understandable error, you would expect it to be able to output directly into a machine, splitter etc, so its fair that he did not know it has to be a conveyor belt
Still annoying to know some parts was not working for a large part of the video 🤣
more please
It was looking really cool until the match started and it was just a top down version of that game where you click enemies as they charge your castle.
I mean, the point of the game isn’t the combat lol
@@OlexaYT I love strategy games where you build, endure and repeat. Throw me a spell or a couple in game actions and that's cool. Making me click every single enemy though is just not my type of mechanic. Feels like a distraction or punishment from the more engaging factory elements.
I think it’s moreso something to do so you don’t have to just sit and watch it. You’re doing a borderline irrelevant amount of damage by clicking after the first wave. Your units are way stronger than your mouse. You saw by the end I would just spend the fight time in my factory refining stuff because me clicking wasn’t doing anything lol
I consider how useful the main bus strategy would be ⚙️
Cool. Play geodepths maybe plz?
dawg, I don't think that's how you use dupers. I think, like everything else in the game, the output needs at least one conveyor.
place 2 identical producers, join them into a single path, immediately split that path in 2.
GENIUS.
I mean, i get it, its the time pressure, but damn that was funny.
imagine calling circles "oh's"
My favorite letter of the alphabet, circle

this seems genuinely awful
This looks like a mobile game…
Lol it doesn’t at all. There’s so much going on here
@@OlexaYT there’s plenty going on in mobile games too but they are just rehashes of existing concepts with no real creative substance in them.
This gave me that vibe, thats all
