      G'day Robert,
The saga of how 3801 got listed for preservation is an interesting one.
It was naturally iconic. I have been in the cabs of both 3801 and LNER 4472, the 38er being far more spacious. Swinging the banjo on dainty 3112 was hard enough yakka, keeping the Jolly Green Giant puffing woulda been a big chore, especially on the Melbourne Express dragging 550 tons.

      G'day CSX and Rex,
Hopefully, the ever lasting boiler debacle will be resolved at some stage in the future.
And, our Jolly Green Giant can re-appear and strut it's stuff.
      Just gotta wait and see.
      Steve.

This footage of 3801 is included on my DVD titled Steves Steamy Stuff and is available from Alcoworld at Ingleburn NSW,. A number of steamers currently not in action are featured.
      Steve.

      G'day Ausmanis,
Yeh, the big bloke was naturally there.
You can squiz him standing beside it while taking water at Wang.
And, his voice can be heard in another part.
After all, he did regard it as HIS engine.
      Steve.
