I recently started looking at this. I checked the value a couple of years ago and most of them were worth 3-10 bucks (Holos). I looked just yesterday, and those same cards are going for 10-15 now. Some especially are worth more. I'm trying to decide if right now is a good time to sell or if this trend will continue. But its worth looking right now. OG MewTwo, Charizard and other popular ones can each be worth over $100. Check it out
Sealed products from what I can tell are the best way to get a profit but they’re so hard to not open haha. Personally if I came into a Base Set or a much older set like that pack I would definitely hold on to the item and wait for it to go up even more. Or just immediately flip it.

I would recommend checking a place like Troll and Toad, on the right of their website it lists the hottest cards, you can also sort by most popular on TCG Player, both of these sites provide useful information on the Trainer cards worth the most.

You can send cards (after paying a fee) to a company called PSA (Professional Sports Authenticators) and they give each cards condition a grade on a scale of 1-10. Then they put that card in a sturdy plastic case with a label telling you what the grade is. Cards that have been graded can go up to 10 times more valuable if they get a ten! I would recommend using a middleman like ludkins collectables because they are cheaper!

Charizard GX isn't that great of a card in the TCG just because it takes so long to set up and you have to discard Energy, if you were building a majority Fire type deck and used multiple Burning Energy and Kiawe Trainer cards, it could have a chance at being good.

I have a potentially super rare card...German Magneton holo from the fossil set (not base set). I cannot find this card for sale ANYWHERE. I find the ones with the base image but not with the fossil image. Only card I COULD find that was the same as mine was a heavily played card. Mine is Near Mint with the slightest signs of edgewear on the reverse side... I really think I've got a really rare card here. Something that really isn't out there... Unfortunately the card is worth very little, for two reasons, first the card is in German, not English, and second, there are tons of Fossil cards in circulation.

@@BobBob73271 not cards, i think I was talking individual sun and moon booster boxes. Though boxes seem to have settle at the $250 range. This would be team up, and unbroken bonds. Also the price for Ultra Prism is ridiculous at $500. I've seem that the other sun and moon set booster boxes are starting to pass the $100/box mark into the $140 range.

It is almost impossible to know, the rarest cards in the Diamond and Pearl series of sets, reprint and Shiny Holo cards are worth very little, Shiny Legend cards from Call of Legends could be valuable, but they're only in one set, right now I can't pinpoint anything that has the potential to go way up in value.
if i buy a booster box do i well the whole booster box or the individual packs and when do i sell it like do i wait for it to go out of standard form because surely then it will be less in demand
If you save a booster box for 5+ years, sometimes selling the individual packs is more profitable than the entire booster box as a whole. The reason it is better to wait to sell booster boxes until they're out of the Standard Format is because the supply of the boxes goes down.
Took a lot to think about doing this, I have the black and white case from when I got some cards for my birthday so I have 10 years worth of cards that I collected, and to me they're memories. But I do wanna do this, I hardly collect them anymore and don't have anyone to even battle with not that I even know all the rules really, let alone of I even want to battle with them. They were mostly just for collecting. I'm still gonna but letting go of a few wouldn't hurt.
Ah ok the only problem i have with ebay is the fees and i have to pay 3.50 tracking for every card so i don't get scammed. And with Facebook people like to low ball me.
I think the adage that booster boxes will always be profitable may soon become untrue. I completely agree with that statement before Sun and Moon. Evolutions saw demand that has been pretty much unrivaled throughout the history of the TCG, and this has caused **mass** printing of Sun and Moon era sets. I think that it will probably take at least a decade or more for supply of these newer boxes to dry up, and I'm not sure if the future value is really going to be there with the amount of Ultra Rares printed in each set. I could be totally wrong though!
Booster box prices on S&M sets are 10% or more lower than they have been historically. Distributors are pretty irrelevant right now since you can buy a box on eBay for the same price as a distributor. My profits on box selling are at an all time low due to razor thin margins. Also prices of bulk cards right now are 1 cent vs the historic 6 cents which also indicates a much higher print run. :)
Grant Shudun It doesnt mean they printed an insane amount. Pokemon is very nostalgic give it a decade and sun and moon base booster box will be worth around $500
It is hard to believe that the trend of booster boxes increasing in value will change after 18+ years of producing boxes. Although it seems like the new sets are available everywhere, these boxes will still become harder to find soon.

I feel very fortunate to live near a card shop that will buy non-bulk Pokemon cards for usually decent prices. Of the other two shops, one only buys specific things, and the other, well, I haven't bothered to ask because I feel their prices are terrible considering they have a box of commons/uncommons on the counter for $1 each, ouch. I am happy I purchased my play-set of full-art Leles back in June or so, but the price is about the same. I'm guessing Guardians Rising is being printed a lot more than Roaring Skies, considering full-art Shaymin hit $90 or so if I am correct.
I'm sure that infomation will never be released to the public. I'm also sure most collectors have always suspected that certain cards are printed less than others, even with the same rarity. People like to throw around the word 'rare', such as when talking about Base Set Charizard. Rare? Yes, that's what that star in the bottom corner means. Desirable? Certainly. More rare than any of the other 15 holos in the set? Nobody outside WotC would ever know for sure.

I just pulled the new Rainbow rare Vmax Charizard from the Champions path set. Would it be better to sell now or get it graded and hold?
Getting something graded is always the better option.

English booster boxes are worth more, then Japanese would be 2nd, all other languages are worth much less.

@@BobBob73271 not cards, i think I was talking individual sun and moon booster boxes. Though boxes seem to have settle at the $250 range. This would be team up, and unbroken bonds. Also the price for Ultra Prism is ridiculous at $500. I've seem that the other sun and moon set booster boxes are starting to pass the $100/box mark into the $140 range.

It is almost impossible to know, the rarest cards in the Diamond and Pearl series of sets, reprint and Shiny Holo cards are worth very little, Shiny Legend cards from Call of Legends could be valuable, but they're only in one set, right now I can't pinpoint anything that has the potential to go way up in value.
if i buy a booster box do i well the whole booster box or the individual packs and when do i sell it like do i wait for it to go out of standard form because surely then it will be less in demand
If you save a booster box for 5+ years, sometimes selling the individual packs is more profitable than the entire booster box as a whole. The reason it is better to wait to sell booster boxes until they're out of the Standard Format is because the supply of the boxes goes down.

Took a lot to think about doing this, I have the black and white case from when I got some cards for my birthday so I have 10 years worth of cards that I collected, and to me they're memories. But I do wanna do this, I hardly collect them anymore and don't have anyone to even battle with not that I even know all the rules really, let alone of I even want to battle with them. They were mostly just for collecting. I'm still gonna but letting go of a few wouldn't hurt.

eBay is probably the easiest place to sell cards, otherwise look for groups for selling Pokemon cards on Facebook.
Ah ok the only problem i have with ebay is the fees and i have to pay 3.50 tracking for every card so i don't get scammed. And with Facebook people like to low ball me.

I think the adage that booster boxes will always be profitable may soon become untrue. I completely agree with that statement before Sun and Moon. Evolutions saw demand that has been pretty much unrivaled throughout the history of the TCG, and this has caused **mass** printing of Sun and Moon era sets. I think that it will probably take at least a decade or more for supply of these newer boxes to dry up, and I'm not sure if the future value is really going to be there with the amount of Ultra Rares printed in each set. I could be totally wrong though!

Booster box prices on S&M sets are 10% or more lower than they have been historically. Distributors are pretty irrelevant right now since you can buy a box on eBay for the same price as a distributor. My profits on box selling are at an all time low due to razor thin margins. Also prices of bulk cards right now are 1 cent vs the historic 6 cents which also indicates a much higher print run. :)

It is hard to believe that the trend of booster boxes increasing in value will change after 18+ years of producing boxes. Although it seems like the new sets are available everywhere, these boxes will still become harder to find soon.
The value will be there, but I don't think its ever going to compare to WOTC or early Nintendo era stuff :)

I feel very fortunate to live near a card shop that will buy non-bulk Pokemon cards for usually decent prices. Of the other two shops, one only buys specific things, and the other, well, I haven't bothered to ask because I feel their prices are terrible considering they have a box of commons/uncommons on the counter for $1 each, ouch. I am happy I purchased my play-set of full-art Leles back in June or so, but the price is about the same. I'm guessing Guardians Rising is being printed a lot more than Roaring Skies, considering full-art Shaymin hit $90 or so if I am correct.
I don't know if there is much information out there how many prints of each set are produced.
I'm sure that infomation will never be released to the public. I'm also sure most collectors have always suspected that certain cards are printed less than others, even with the same rarity. People like to throw around the word 'rare', such as when talking about Base Set Charizard. Rare? Yes, that's what that star in the bottom corner means. Desirable? Certainly. More rare than any of the other 15 holos in the set? Nobody outside WotC would ever know for sure.

I read that charizards were being sold for a huge amount. I dug around the storage room and found my collection of pokemon cards stored in a NBA basketball binder. Thinking of selling them but man it's hard... it's like throwing away a piece of childhood memory
It is tough to sell childhood memories, but now is a great time to sell.
What do you mean with Standard format ?
That has to do with the competitive TCG, the Standard Format is the main format used, it means cards from the BREAKthrough set and newer.

That card is still somewhat valuable because of the Expanded Format, if it ever gets reprinted, those old N cards will be worth major dollars again.
