So very glad you filled this mother in on what was happening with her daughter. And you educated me too! My late husband , who was a quadriplegic, never informed me there were different sizes of trach tubes- just about the different sizes of tubing used to suction.
You are SUCH a blessing to people!

I know this isn't directly related to the video, but wow, I just came across your channel, and I have to say-what you're doing is absolutely inspiring! You perfectly demonstrate to people that life isn’t confined to just one path, and even when things don’t go as planned, there’s still so much possibility waiting to be explored and things to be done with your life. Your life and the way you've handled your own challenges is such a powerful reflection of that mindset.
Your videos have genuinely motivated me in ways I can’t fully express. They’ve reminded me to stay positive and committed to making a difference in the world, no matter the challenges I face. Thank you for the passion and effort you pour into your work-it truly makes a difference. I hope to see more of your videos in the future!

I'm glad she's okay. I'm glad you filled in the mother on what happened. Tracheostomy tubes are so confusing sometimes. But I'm learning so much from you. ❤

We carry the box my tracheal tubing system came in from the hospital and and extra inner canula. 1. My inner canula clogs all the time and carrying my suction machine is not always an option. But I always have it with my medicine list, everything in case of an emergency. This is terrible this happened to a little girl. Luck mom did what she did. ❤

The inner and outer diameter are printed on every box and should be referenced. A 2mm difference should not have caused a catastrophic failure in an adult sized patient. A ventilated patient would have seen higher pressures if it were going to be a problem but the smaller tube would have allowed for more space to breathe around the trach in a patient that could breathe on their own. I actually preferred the smallest possible trach that I could be ventilated through precisely because it was so hard to breathe around it off the vent and I wanted to be able to wear a speaking valve to have at least some time free of the machine.
You should always have a complete spare trach and ambu bag at bedside and in the car if you can get around.

Insane, how the therapist just left without monitoring the patient or leaving someone on call who could monitor the patient. That is actual negligence.

My (late) husband got a shiley 8 when he first got his trach. When they went to downsize him in an attempt to decannulize him, they went to a portex 7 (thats all i know about it) and then they said that wasnt fitting him correctly so they put him on the shiley 6.0 xlt.

@LifewithaVent thank you. It was and will continue to be. It was his time. God said he wanted him.
It had nothing to do with his trach though.

Not sure why youtube recommended this video to me and it’s my first time here. A couple observations:
    1. Your a very pretty girl :)
    2. You’re a very good speaker so maybe start a second channel which has greater appeal to the masses. Philosophy, motivation, travel or any other subjects you have a passion in?
    take care 👍

Try carnivore diet and high doses of vitamin A. I had the same issues, almost died this year (also a med student also had to drop out) and turns out i have a gene that causes me to not be able to convert beta carotene to retinol efficiently(BCMO1 GENE) and makes me obly able to use animal sources of vitamin a, so i had an extreme vitamin a deficiency that no doctor could diagnose, i did it myself with elimination diet. Its been a week since i discovered that and this is what works for me:
100.000 uis of beta carotene capsules as my body will convert only a small amount, bovine colostrum, meat, dairy, eggs, and other supplements like multivitamins, NAC, omega 3, etc
My heart was at 140bpm at rest, now its 90bpm, had tinnitus, memory loss, fatigue, breathing issues, gi issues, diarrhea, etc now im slowly recovering but also struggle with the same depression as you described... my story is very long and the way i came to my diagnosis took me several years... but i feel so validated by your story as it reminded me of what ive been through

Hi! You are probably already familiar with N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and its many beneficial effects. I am not sure but it may also interact with mitochondria in a positive way. ( ? ) It might be worth looking into.
NAC is also known to reduce mucus viscosity and may also help with other respiratory problems.
