    Thinking out loud here.... I would recommend using red curtesy lighting. It will preserve your night vision. Perhaps use LED lighting that you can switch to any color...even white if you needed it in a tight situation. I think they even have a remote which would allow you to switch lighting from anywhere near or on the boat. Easy for me to say, haha.

    That all looks awesome. One question. Those rear tackle hatches. Why mount the hatch cover backwards? I'd think it would be awkward having a door you have to reach over while grabbing a tackle box.

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They couldn't flip the opposite way due to the molded in pole holders, the rear bilge exit pipe, and the transom mount corner braces. It looks awkward but when your in the boat your reaching in from the middle, not over the hatch, if that makes any sense.

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah man It won't. Mine came out light fir what it is, western red Cedar is feather light. With 2 batteries full build was roughly 200 pds added. Just add more foam to compensate for the weight added. It won't make it float better but it will keep it afloat longer if it takes any water.

    Question, I see you’re running thinner decking. I’m running 3/8ths and have some pretty big hatches. How does doubling up you’re hatches with additional ply work for you? Does it keep it sturdy when standing on it?

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It works ok for me but to avoid headaches I recommend 1/2 inch w runners as well. 3/8 or 15/32 ply gets tricky and if not done properly ad with attention to detail, can flex or warp. With that said, I have had no issues.

      I do not have an exact amount because I never knew I'd have a TH-cam channel and get asked that so often. So when I started, I was just buying stuff. My new build im keeping a spread sheet for every single purchase to give an exact amount when complete.
      To answer your question as a rough guesstimate that I feel is pretty close is 1750-2000 grand max. That's for everything in the boat including motor repairs and new electric motor and 2 batteries and build materials. Keep in mind, the boat was a gift so I'd say if your buying a boat you could build a similar boat yourself for 2500 or less.

    A good place to start one of these projects is with a 14-48. 14 feet long and 48” wide. Hunt to find an old 15hp OMC. These are great motors , weigh 75# and will plane the boat. An 8hp will not plane this boat. This boat is set up up very nicely built but will take a long time to get out and back. Gorgeous boat but it needs to plane.
    Functionality first, cosmetics second.

      Motor came with it, does fine for me, not buying a new one.

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't be opposed to a bigger motor but this one came with it, it was low budget build, not worth the investment for me to upgrade motors for a boat I don't get to use as often as I'd like. Maybe one day but honestly I'd go brand new Mercury and if I'm going to spend that I might as well go brand new bass tracker for 10 grand and get a much bigger motor with that. Just how I see it man.

    • @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
      @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lastly, lol, I forgot to mention I do go to a river with HP regulations of under 10 but more often times I fish electric only reservoirs. This boat has seen 90% of its usage in electric only lakes to this point. Basically, a lot of reasoning behind this particular set up but I do agree a 15 would be really sweet.

      It's a 14. This was my first boat build, currently building my second build, a 12 footer on my channel.

      Anthony Jones just watched all the episodes of the 12ft build going on ! Awesome content!! Makes me want to start mine now . Just not sure a 10ft boat will hold up with the extra added weight of the casting decks and compartments .

      @@zachlawson8758 it can vary depending on the scope of work and how "built" you'd want it. Full paint, wood or aluminum framing, carpet or sea dek, how many electronics, all things to consider which increases material cost and labor.

    Hate to be negative but looks like a nightmare when something starts leaking. Looks good though hope ya catch a bunch.

      @@undeserved1781 True that man! Yeah if I ever have to make a major repair for a leak it wouldn't be fun. What I'm more worried about would be fixing a wiring issue because I'd have to pull the whole boat apart to get to the wiring. Good news is I did spend a lot of time prepping the exterior, doingbody work, heavy paint job , so unless I hit something hard, it shouldn't leak and has not yet after a dozen trips. The wiring, I took my time and heat shrinks all connections with marine grade shrink so hopefully it will be ok! Lastly, the decking and floor system are actually put in in such away to be removed in case of repairs, upgrades, or redesigns. I tried to think ahead there as well! As far as my comment , just something I try to practice! Appreciate you tuning in man!

      @@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats Was not being critical, I've modified 3 jon boats, 2 -14 footers, the 2nd twice. The last a 16 foot, all aluminum welded the braces and decks, the 16 foot hull is riveted, the deck to bracing riveted. Always wanting more out of limited space. I'm on some rough water from time to time, all the weight and the twisting the hull absorbs causes the hull rivets to loosen. Been fortunate not to hit anything hard enough to damage anything, other than the top starboard corner of the bow. A boat ramp story of it's own. Keep a tight line, nice build, hope it works well.
