    I used pvc trim boards in my boat for the floor. They have them at Lowe’s and Home Depot. They are pricey but plastic doesn’t rot.

    Awesome new content! Been wanting to give you props for a while, but you know, comments unavailable. You're one of my favorite boat guys.
    I've got two 10' Jon boat projects currently. A 32" and a 40". The 32" was a free takeaway! I love your blue baby project.
    I've got a metal manufacturer/ retailer here. Scraps and partial cuts can save one lots of money. Wood is intelligent. Carbon or Glass fiber and molds can be fun. Getting out there and fishing can be fun. Lots of options for each person 👍
    Hey and Cheers from the PNW!

    I appreciate you posting these videos. I like watching a bunch of different video to help me learn new techniques. I plan on building a transom brace for my tracker 1436. I agree with your opinion on tracker. I have leaking rivets, welds are poor, and the over all quality isn’t as good as it should be. If you ever do a transom brace with angle and rivets I’d watch it.

    Howdy from Sacramento! Cool vid. When I was a kid, I tried to do a wood floor in an inflatable sea eagle. Needless to say it didn't work out. Thanks for sharing!

    Spay a little wd-40 on the blade. It will keep the aluminum from gummen up, and sticking.

    Why didn’t you make the back deck and the new flooring meet flush?

    You could spray glue that foam together so you didn’t have to cut twice. 🤟🏻

    First I enjoy your channel have learned a lot thank you for the time and effort you put into these builds. Second talking about floors I am currently experimenting with using solid top plastic pallets got mine from a local shipping company 40x40 for 8$ weight rated for 4,000 lbs so stiff for sure not far enough along yet to have pictures nor have I tried to put hydro turf on it (will take a heavy grit sandpaper to scuff it first see how it does. But I chose to go this route because it won’t rot like wood and is lite weight and relatively easy to cut to shape.
    Say all this to get your thoughts have you tried this route and if so what where your results ??
    Thanks again!

      To clarify I cut the solid top off the pallets don’t use the braces underneath

      I haven’t used anything other than wood or aluminum. I’ve seen a lot of people using poly though. Problem is, no one near me sells sheets of it and shipping is insane.
      I don’t see why it wouldn’t work though. Peep that Weldbilt boat video I did last week, it had some type of poly floors someone put in it, but they were bowed up pretty bad. Not sure why they did that

    New to this... Does the foam just add rigidity to the floor? Or is there a different purpose?

    • @backwaterboatrehab
      @backwaterboatrehab  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Main purpose of the foam is to aid in floatation in case you get a hole in your boat. This way it won’t sink to the bottom of the lake. You boat comes from the factory with foam under the seats, but when you start adding a lot of extra stuff to your boat you can exceed the factory foam limits. So adding foam will help compensate adding extra weight. But it does also serve the purpose of filling the void between the braces when you floor a boat.

    Wonder where a guy good buy some aluminum mesh to floor a boat with ?

    • @marklivingston7324
      @marklivingston7324 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats called 'Expanded Metal/aluminum' I would not advise using this for flooring unless you get a very heavy gauge. And Expanded sheets pull a premium. And, they will, under the weight of you walking around, start to bend and thats no good. Save your money, and buy 1/8" thick aluminum (5052) You'll thank yourself in the future. I was given this advice by a welder who showed me a trailer with expanded metal in it and their were bows and bends due to the weight. And a peice of aluminum expanded would most certainly bend. Hope this helps!
