Lack of diverse microbes can lead to symptoms, including:
    • Diarrhea
    • Gut inflammation
    • Toxins
    • Obesity
    • Slow metabolism
    • Mood changes
    Potential benefits of diverse microbes:
    • They help you make vitamins
    • They provide immune protection
    • They help keep inflammation low
    • They feed colon cells
    • They help produce amino acids, neurotransmitters, and other proteins
    • They help keep your energy high
How to increase the diversity of microbes in your gut and boost your health:
    1. Consume food that has been grown on soil that has a diverse microbiome
    2. Increase the diversity of plant foods in your diet
    3. Exercise
    4. Get plenty of quality sleep
    5. Do intermittent fasting
    6. Consume phenols
    7. Consume sprouts or microgreens grown on soil
    8. Consume probiotic foods
    9. Consume raw foods
Top things that lower microbiome diversity:
    1. Broad-spectrum antibiotics
    2. Glyphosate
    3. Animals fed on a monoculture
    4. Stress
    5. Artificial sweeteners
    6. Inflammation
    7. Liver issues
    8. Sterilized foods
    9. Radiated foods
    10. Overly processed foods
    11. A lack of variety of foods in the diet
    Thank You Dr Berg! 🐱👍🏿

I am almost in disbelief of what a difference Kefir has made in my life. I started drinking it about 4 months ago because of what Dr. Berg had been saying about it. The digestive problems that I have been dealing with for the last 5 years are now gone. I also had cut out the sugary foods, bread products and I am eating cruciferous vegetables. However, when I started drinking Kefir it was, literally, an overnight change in my bowel problems. It’s incredible. Thanks, once again, for helping me through and rectifying another health problem. I highly recommend trying Kefir. Thanks, again, Dr. Berg!

I have to tell you a story. It's a story about enlightenment. Not in the ethereal sense (although I think it bares some relevance) Long story short; I was raised on a farm, we grew and ate our own food (free of poisons) Left home, moved to the city, went to school, changed my way of life completely. Fell into the trap of the commercial "food" industry. Sick a LOT. Met my guy who was practicing holistic health to manage an autoimmune disease. He educated me on FOOD and HEALTH. We practiced together. We healed each other.
We hadn't been to a regular grocery store to buy our FOOD in a long time. One day we had to go out of town. We needed something so stopped at a mainstream grocery. I had what I would describe as an out of body experience. It was something that I was completely thrown off by. In the middle of that store the realization hit me that there was NO REAL FOOD in that whole place. They didn't even have anything organic. I looked around as if in a foreign land and things may as well have been in slow motion as I watched people shuffling by with their carts stuffed with all of this Non-food garbage. I wondered to myself; do any of them know what they are consuming? Do they? The vast majority did not look healthy. Mainly they looked tired and over-weight. That was a true awakening to me. I pray that people will awaken to the evil that has captured our lives. FOOD should heal not kill.
Cheers to you Dr. Eric Berg. Keep fighting the good fight.

Now I understand why American folks are keen on growing their own vegetables.

Over use of anti-biotics can set you up for things like; C Diff. The more antibiotics a person takes the more likely a person is to have an overgrowth of the bad bacteria. It's a viscous cycle. C diff does not need O2 to live or reproduce so it is hard to get in check.

Doc, I can say first hand that the incredible health improvements that I have experienced by going KETO with intermittent fasting have been absolutely life changing! I have a complicated loss-of-domain hernia that requires me to have a abdominal wall reconstructive surgery to fix. In order to do that, I have to drop from a weight of 450lbs to under 300lbs. By getting onto a KETO diet with 18hrs of daily fasting, I have lost 110lbs thus far and I have only been on the diet for 7 months. I feel better than ever. Issues that I have dealt with for decades are fading quickly and I feel a vitality being restored that I thought was merely middle age...it isn't. Its the addiction that we have with certain accepted poisons, and I am so happy to be free of them. Its not a diet...its a way of life.

If you want to see a huge diversity of fermented food, study Korean cuisines. Staple foods are gochujang, soybean paste, kimchi (which means ANY veggie that's fermented in a certain way), pickled veggies (fermented), salted fermented fish (added to season dishes before or after cooking) and that's just a list off the top of my head. Japanese umeboshi is a powerful fermented food for gut health. The intense sourness helps with digestion. All cultures have traditions in fermenting food. You just have to look at cultures who still have knowledge of these traditions

Processed sugar is poison. Doesn't matter if it's cane or raw. If you do remove it completely; you might want to add a bit of natural sugar to your diet. Ie. Honey, (making sure it's completely un-processed) Unprocessed Pure maple syrup and fruits like blueberries, apricots, apples. (in small portions) This has an affect that also can help in digestion. For a person who suffers from low blood sugar levels; this may be a way to keep that in check. This is what I do. You have to make your own decisions. Good that you kicked your diet soda!!!! Bravo!!

Omg it helps me!!! I'm addicted to sugar free Pepsi Max, just cutting right down on it this past week. I'd heard that aspartame is bad for gut flora but didn't really put too much importance to it in my head. You think but it's better than sugar NO it's not. It's just as bad.
I had to take antibiotics for a tooth absess last year and now I'm realising the aspartame has probably hindered my good flora repopulation attempts.
Your comment just made a lightbulb go off in my head to cut out aspartame for good, no more fake crap, I need good guy flora for my immune system to work optimally as I think I've retriggered the glandular fever I had in 1993. Back then pre-glandular fever I had gastroenteritis 6 months beforehand AND a dumb GP pumped me full of 5 courses of antibiotics in a month thinking it was tonsillitis without ever doing an EBV test. It took 2 YEARS to come good again.
Same thing happening now, strong antibiotics for 3 weeks last year over my tooth. Recurring diarrhoea. I need to take my gut health more seriously, no sugar is a no brainer but I also need to STOP aspartame to get better

Was taking a stronger probiotic but it seemed to upset my gut so stopped taking it. Just have had a hard time figuring out what I can tolerate and what is helping with healing.
And this seems to be a bit of introduction to your possibility of information channel on farming which I’m anxious to hear about your discoveries!!

Try fasting. I find eating a simple diet helps. I eat mostly big green salads with spinach, kale, carrots, zucchini, avocado with olive oil and some sort of fish like salmon or even shell fish.
I don't eat sugar or processed foods. I eat basically one meal a day. I may eat a few nuts later or maybe an apple. Mostly your gut just needs time to heal. So do some fasting. Start off with intermittent fasting and work up to a few days every so often. Drink water and some herbal teas. Drink some lemon or lime water in the morning.

      @Joyful-lw2ky ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@jerrylisby3440 I’ve done plenty of fasting. In fact, I made it to 7 days doing a water fast after my diagnosis but my blood work showed my vitamin D levels were too high, ended up in ER even though I didn’t feel bad and all that they did was give me a couple of drips to rehydrate me and told me to quit my supplements. Grrr!! Not sure what my main issue is but just seems when I eat most anything, I have a difficult time digesting it. I do eat almost 100% clean. It surely is a learning process……. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ya Ya. A great fellow to also hear from on this topic is Zach Bush MD. He is all about the soil... he even made a product that is composed of bacteria & more from ... like in the millions of years old "dinosaur dirt" (as he says 🙂). It contains the pure, balanced highly signaling microorganisms that help balance your microbiome bacteria etc. He also started a program called "Farmers Footprint" and works with many smaller farmers (the farmers aren't short or small.... their farms are). The total focus is Soil LIfe and balance and diversity.

Just as you can increase diversity of veggies you eat, you can diversify your ferments as well: veggies + herbs + seeds (my favorites: onion + thyme; peppers + onions + oregano; cabbage + apple + scallions; onions + fennel seed). Consider also various strains of bacteria for your yogurt (ala William Davis' Super Gut ;^)

I went to the hospital for a week with what ended up being a mono and cmv infections. They didn't know what I had at first and treated me with antibiotics before tests came back. Those antibiotics caused c-diff. Took me a year and a half to recover because I kept getting colon infections that they treated with broad spectrum antibiotics.
Everything Dr Berg is saying is 100% correct. I had to do the research myself but you can rebuild healthy gut bacteria.

      @eleven903 ปีที่แล้ว

I just made a comment above to someone. When you are diagnosed with C diff at a mainstream medical; the first thing that the "doctor" orders is an antibiotic which in turn helps to kill off your good bugs that help to clean up and rid you of the over-growth of that bacterium and it becomes a viscous cycle. I hope that you're building your gut to ward it off and interrupt the cycle. cheers.

Since I relocated, I got food poisoning a couples of times, and I cannot eat properly since then. I got diarrhoea, indigestion, gas, dandruff, sleep loss and ect from time to time, I try to take probiotics but it relieves the symptoms as long as I keep taking them, and it doesn’t improve much. I had lost weight rapidly to only 36kg since and struggle so much to gain weight, but I can’t eat well. 😢 videos on TH-cam only talk about how to lose weight, but no one is really aware that people who need to gain weight find eating hard the same. 🙏

One small comment, E-Coli are not pathogens as stated in the beginning. They are in fact essential for a functional lgut. However occasionally people can ingest a rare pathogenic version. In Switzerland it’s possible to buy in a pharmacy E-Coli tablets based on an E-Coli version SF68. This variant was discovered originally in Sweden in 1968. sourced from breast milk. it is completely susceptible to all modern antibiotics, meaning it has never developed resistance. It still functions like it should. Brand name is Bioflorin. Best health hack for a healthy microbiome.

Dr Berg, can you please do a video on how to lower the ratio of pathogens in the microbiome? For those of us who have been on birth control for way too long, etc...

30 Hz vibration Whole Body Vibration----> The rodents received 20 minutes of WBV each day of the week for 4 weeks. The WBV had a frequency of 30 Hz and an amplitude of 3 mm. After the 4 weeks had ended, the team collected and analyzed the rodents’ adipose tissue.
The researchers also performed similar experiments with WBV and assessed the rodents’ microbiomes by examining their stool.
The experiments revealed various changes as a result of WBV. A crucial finding was a 17-fold increase in a gut bacterium that plays a key role in inflammation.
The bacterium goes by the name of Alistipes, and its role is to raise levels of short-chain fatty acids - compounds that lower inflammation in the gut. Previous research has found low levels of the bacterium in people with Crohn’s disease and inflammatory bowel disease, explain the researchers.
Among the short-chain fatty acids that Alistipes bacteria help release is butyrate, a metabolite of dietary fiber, which can reverse the negative effects of eating a high-fat diet.
Drs. Yu and Baban also explain that Alistipes help ferment the food in the gut and improve metabolism in general, helping the body use sugar to create energy.

"antibiotics... taking probiotic at the same time" - it would seem to be better to take a probiotic spaced ~ centered in between the time points when the antibiotic is taken, so it won't be deactivated immdiately by the antibiotic presumably when taken literally at the same time, basically to rebuild some of what the antibiotic did to the gut in between / at least provide a reasonable placeholder, to prevent fungus taking over.
