    TH-cam Censor Police: I am no longer diabetic thanks to his advice in diet knowledge and nutritional knowledge. We love Dr Berg! It was his channel that has helped me achieve my goal of getting off most all my meds that made my life miserable. Stop persecuting good people who have remedies to help others without costing all our life savings.

    I love keto but on holidays (like Thanksgiving)…I’ll be eating carbs/ sugar and feeling happy about it looool. For me, I just got on a 48-72 hour fast after the holidays to get back on track. It’s never been a problem 👍🏾

      I ate very well. And, I chose to eat sugars, grains, and cranberry’s for the first time in 2 years. I loaded up on digestive enzymes and berberine. My energy stayed high and I stayed active. Decision now for me is BBB& E, Sardine, or water fast. Decision to come in the morning. Have you gone 5 day fasting?

    • @stephanieilluzzi7355
      @stephanieilluzzi7355 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I went on Dr. Boz’s 3 day sardine fast once. I chose mackerel instead of sardines because I prefer them, and figured they are probably pretty similar. I never made it to the third day because I wound up with a horrible full body rash! I’ve eaten mackerel many times without a problem, but maybe because it was the only thing I ate on this “sardine fast,” it triggered a reaction. Who knows. But now I shy away from eating only ONE thing for an extended period. Although I have done egg fasts where all you eat is eggs and an ounce of cheese per egg. No problems there. For Thanksgiving I was about 80% Keto, and 20% carbs I never eat (2 1/2 years Keto.) Happy to get back to my Keto way of life that has served me so well! 🤗

      i tried that but failed. i had pumpkin pie and cake on thanksgiving then i tried fasting but my addiction was too strong and bought a bag of chips the next day. if i eat carbs and sugar I cant help myself. i either fast before thanksgiving or disappoint family by avoiding sweats them. only having turkey and ham.

    • @ga8065

      I fast on Thanksgiving, started about 4 years ago with a 24hr. I'll do a 48 this year. For health but also respect for the first indigenous people. Pilgrims landed here and couldn't make it, the first people brought food, taught them survival skills and no good deed goes unpunished. Thanksgiving ended up being their Last Supper, and they lost their country.

    Hi Dr. Berg. I just want to say that your videos and advice are so valuable and life changing! I’m a type 1 diabetic and I have been on the healthy keto diet for a little over two months now with intermittent fasting of 18 hours a day. The carbs I get is only from vegetables and nut butters and flours. Since I have been eating this way, I no longer experience sugar highs or lows and I was able to reduce my insulin doses! My blood sugar average for this period is 130! I lost 8 pounds, have more energy, my chronic shoulder pain from playing violin is almost completely gone and I have been able to sleep all through the night for the first time in YEARS! Thank you so much for your healthy keto videos and intermittent fasting and all your videos because they are life changing!! Anyone thinking about trying this, take it from me, it is life changing! You can live without consuming grains, sugar and carbs and feel amazing and improve your health dramatically!❤❤❤❤

      Thank you for your summary 😊 I have IBS recently, it flared up. My stomach and gut on fire. It may have been the iron tablets I was given by my GP as levels low. Had a camera down my stomach and found nothing. Had a celiac test and negative. Sensitivity to gluten came up as extremely low in my blood work but from biopsy there was a level of inflammation. I started fasting, included magnesium and omg like a new person. And yes. I still eat my sourdough wheat/rye bread, it is homemade. It is all these commercial breads with zillions of ingredients. I no longer buy anything with more than 3 ingredients in it. For me I don't think it is gluten. But so far, touch wood, I feel OK. Good day.

    Thank you for including oxalates as one of the things to be concerned about when consumed in excess. I've correlated oxalate consumption with skin issues (like rosacea) and issues with my eyesight (an early appearance of macular degeneration). This came about when I included some highly recommended foods which I learned are high in oxalates. Specifically, almonds, spinach, chard and cinnamon! I reduced my intake of these foods, and I noticed a reduction in rosacea and the "anomaly" that was appearing in my eye has diminished greatly.
    I'm not strictly on the ketogenic diet, but I have pretty much eliminated sugar, grains and over-processed foods. I keep an eye on the quality and source of my food, and I practice a time-restricted-eating plan. I've already reached my goal in five months of losing 50 lbs. and I feel great.

      @@Spiceydame me too: what especially makes me mad is how they use the most extreme torturous treatment (radiation) on cancer when it NEVER cures it and when they KNOW there are SAFE METABOLIC methods to get rid of it and there is thousands and thousands of medical evidence for it: stopping glucose and going on a keto diet because cancer cells CANNOT use ketones, only glucose, so keto effectively starves the cancer and strengthens the other healthy cells (ketones is a cleaner fuel to burn for cells and preferred for the brain, ketones help make new neurons). So doctors HIDE the cure and treatment and instead give patients the CRUELEST method of treatment that doesnt even work: radiation.

    Thanks for the vid Dr Berg, I have found all your information very helpful and life changing. I was a unhealthy lacto ovarian vegetarian as I didn’t really like vegetables just ate a lot of bread and pasta eggs and cheese. 3 years ago I went keto and intermittent fasting with long fasts up to 6 days every month. I lost 120lbs in 8 months my BP plumeted and I came off the BP meds which was great. I became more active and my insuline resistance and inflammation dropped as well and I found I actually do like vegetables. I fell of the wagon last Christmas and have been eating more refined grains and sugary stuff this last year. My weight stayed the same and my BP climed a little but my inflammation went high. I stated needing to urinate at night and thought it might be a prostate problem starting but it was actually kidney disease, as I found out after a bood test 4 weeks ago. I went straight back onto a strict keto diet and now 4 weeks later, no night time urination and my inflammation has dropped considerably. I am glad you covered whole grains, as I was avoiding them when on keto, but I love organic oats and ancient grain cereals with no gluten and added them back into my diet last week with some organic yoghurt and berries. I now know I cant cheat on the refined carbs and sugar now as I need to repair my kidneys and keep them functioning well.
    Keep up the good work people need this kind of truth and help.

    • @sheep1ewe
      @sheep1ewe ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I want to know that too for the same reason, but this is my current conclusion from trial and error in my personal journey so far: I don't know how food is processed in India, but in Europe things like canned beans do often contain added saccaros for some reason that is one thing to check for, other than that it seem like the fiber content is somewhat self regulating in that it may cause runs or constipation if one owereat the less good things, for me it usualycause terrible runs if i owereat that type of food as bulk, same thing with grain products after i started my diet, but i can still eat my pancakes a few times a year, however now i can just eat two or tree of them before my stomac start to protest... which i think is good, beside grain products another thing i did not know about before if to not owerload the liver with fructos, which mean one should probably be careful with sweet exotic fruits, but as i understood it is ok to eat things like dates as long as one try to keep it a t minimum and not eating those praticular types of fruits every day. (i am not sure exactly which types of fruit does, but i assume it is primary those owerly sweet ones, or if one live on a diet primary based on sweet fruits, i think fruit like apples and cherries, etc are ok, at least i do not experience problems from them whan they are in season in my own garden, those fruits are also slef regulating in thet one gert runs if one eat too much of them anyway and they also do contain a lot of vitamins and minerals which are good for the general helath, i see gardenfruits (perhaps You can get them from local farmers if You don't hawe a garden) as an important food supplement, way better then the artificial pills!). (Sorry for My English, it is not my native language)

    • @aproductofboredom

      As a fellow addict I can only tell you what works for me and the only thing that works is not having any. If I have something like dark chocolate I'll have cravings for sweet things for at least 3 days and my addiction wins(which happens a lot) and I have anything else those 3 days may end up turning into a week. Then I go through the phase where I feel horrible physically and mentally from the sugar and carbs again which I'm sure you know about and I get stuck in the I'm gonna stop the eating this trash and then failing loop. I don't know if it'll work for you but for me avoiding it is what works best and frozen blueberries are the only thing that can satisfy my sweet tooth without any side effects of cravings.

Well fast forward and I don't do that anymore, I look at things in the store and just am repulsed by most of it. It will get easier and then you won't even miss it.

    • @captnse
      @captnse ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’re not going to die an early age because you ate a little dark chocolate or an extra piece of keto bread!🤣. You might even live longer because of all the antioxidants dark chocolate contains…..The answer is to gain more will power to not consume the whole container of chocolates or the whole loaf of keto bread in a single day….portion control is key!

    • @aproductofboredom
      @aproductofboredom ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @captnse Portion control doesn't work for addicts. I'll use alcohol as an example. Some folks can have a couple of drinks and be okay, whilst one drink for someone else will lead them down a long road of multiple alcoholic beverages. Some people will say it's a choice, but with addiction, the best and only choice is to avoid whatever you're addicted to at all costs, because if the addict makes a choice to try and indulge even a little bit in their addiction it often ends badly.
      Food addiction isn't taken as seriously because it won't kill you immediately, but if you look around especially when you go shopping you'll see it's rampant among people. So the problem isn't consuming 1 bar of dark chocolate. It's trying to stop after 1 bar of dark chocolate. For me my biggest vice is dried fruit which sounds silly on the face of it, but if I consume even a handful of it. That starts of a cascade of me consuming all sorts of sweet things afterwards. Whereas you may be able to indulge in sweet things and control the portions, that's impossible for some and it's not by choice.

    I would change the negative phrasing of YT at the end. It gives them more power by you supporting that statement. I would rephrase and just focus on the ask and redirect. Btw thank you for the info, learning a lot. Also appreciate your supplements.

    I am sugar free, but I have one question. Now I do a experiment eating the Dutch version of rye bread (dark roggebrood or Pumpernickel) , except a faster metabolism, I do not experience side effects. It is made with rye, water, salt, wheat bran. Is rye bread healthy?

    I’d love to see a video about the “least of the evils” dessert or food choices from commonly-problematic special meals. For example at Thanksgiving if you are going to break keto no matter what, which are the least problematic foods to do it with? Is pumpkin pie or apple better, for example.

    Thank You! I wonder is it ok to eat boiled vegetables from preboiled deepfreesed commercial stock ( i know they are not the best, but it is the only fresh vegetables i can get here without being a bilionaire in the winter, i grow potatoes and onions, etc my self) and skip some of the fasting? I did skip out exotic fruits except for bananas once in a while, but i am not eating them daily the wole year, but i do eat a lot of apples from my own garden whan they are in season in the autumn and at least to me i imagine they does not contain that extreme amonth of bad sugar types as some of the imported specimens do. I just feel so darn hungry if i don't hawe any bulk to fill the plate beside the amonth of protein food i can obtain, that's why i use the vegetables. I did skip canned beans after i discovered that they do contain added sugar. Fiber is pretty much self regulatin in my case since i use to got terrible runs if i eat to much of it. (Sorry for my English, it is not my native language)

    The down side with eating carrots is that most of the beta carotene is locked up in the woody, cellulose material so although you get plenty of fiber to smooth the sugar spike you will reap very little beta carotene. In one end & out the other. By having the carrot juice you acquire the beta carotene & also the soluble fiber. Maybe cooking the carrots breaks down the cellulose & you absorb a good amount of beta carotene that way as it is not that sensitive to heat as Vitamin E.
